Prominent lawyer, human rights activist and author Amal Clooney is jetting into the UAE on March 19 to attend the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF). While she’s been a big name in field for years, she now has Hollywood status after marrying her movie star beau, George Clooney, making her an icon both within and outside of her profession. She will attend the forum, being held in Sharjah, as one of the Guest of Honours and give a speech.
She is just one of a number of influential guests and speakers attending. His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of National Media Council and HE Mary Robinson, First Female President of Ireland are also on the bill, as are HE Shamma bint Sohail Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, and Christopher Gardner who is an American entrepreneur, motivational speaker, author, and philanthropist.
Amal is flying in on March 19 and flying out on March 20, so it’s a short stop, but no doubt an important one. IGCF 2016 will bring together 2,500 prominent world leaders and legal experts specialising in government communication. The slogan this year is “citizens for prosperity”, and it looks at the relationship between governments and their people, exploring how government communication touches different aspects of people’s lives.
The Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre pointed out that the slogan stresses the integral role of government communication in socio-economic development, emphasising: “The slogan reinforces our focus to put a positive spin on this enabling relationship between governments and the people and highlighted their respective roles in pushing forward the development process.”
Speakers and guests come from many corners of the world, representing countries such as Sweden, the United States, Morocco, France, the UK, Pakistan, Ireland, South Africa, Lebanon and the UAE

Yes, what they give with one hand they take with the other - but at least they've got the story right on that one - except they omit to say he's right behind them saying goodbye too.!........Or what some would support and call it balanced reporting....

Most of the audience that I could see appeared to be Middle Eastern so I'm surprised she gave her speech in English. I thought she spoke Arabic. Maybe the men who had their eyes closed were trying to focus on what the interpreter was saying.

PGuests usualy speak in English. There are also a large numbers of the audience do not speak Arabic, in 2014 most of the gustes gave their speeches in English and some of them were Arab . I was hoping that she speak in french . She's awesome .
If you were Arab please help me in translating this word to english "هيبة " .

I also thought about why Amal didn't speak Arabic. Maybe it's this anti-islamic sentiment in the States at the moment, maybe she didn't want to approve that she comes from an Arabic country.
Or maybe there are so many 'dialects' within the Arabic language that it didn't make sense.
Or maybe it was as you suggest: the main speakers usually speak English...
