I just realized why Amal's dress looked so familiar to me: It's quite similar to the dress she wore the day after their wedding in Venice, I think it was Gianbattista Valli.

Lundi, l'avant-première du nouveau long métrage des frères Coen, «Hail Caesar!» (sortie prévue le 17 février en France), était organisée au Regency Village Theatre de Westwood, à Los Angeles.
De passage pour fouler le tapis rouge des festivités, répondre aux questions des journalistes et partir à la rencontre de leurs nombreux fans, les acteurs vedettes se sont volontiers prêtés au jeu des caméras. Channing Tatum, accompagné de son épouse Jenna Dewan, était ainsi présent, à l'instar de Jonah Hill, Alison Pill et de Josh Brolin, lui-même accompagné de sa jeune fiancée, Kathryn Boyd.
Également repéré à l'événement, l'un des couples stars de la planète Hollywood : Amal et George Clooney. Vêtue d'une robe fleurie de la maison Giambattista Valli et chaussée d'une paire d'escarpins de la griffe Christian Dior, la brillante juriste de 37 ans a attiré toute l'attention des photographes au bras de son époux.
Il s'agit de la première apparition officielle du couple depuis trois mois, la dernière remontant au 26 octobre pour la première du film «Our Brand is Crisis». Au cours des dernières semaines, Amal et George Clooney ont été très investis dans leurs engagements respectifs. L'avocate britanno-libanaise a notamment été aperçue à Londres pour défendre le cas de son client, l'ex-président des Maldives Mohamed Nasheed.

I always loves it when he does interviews and selfies and autographs on the red carpet. He knows whom he owes his fame: his fans and the press.
And there are some celebs who seem to forget that...

(To clarify: I'm not talking about laying in wait for a celebrity when he or she's around on a private ocasion, I'm talking about events like this premiere.)

And the dress may be cute, but it looks like she forgot the tights and ice skates that go with it.

Great to see George happy and in his element. He has the movie idol hairstyle again, but I can't hold that against him. He looks good.

Such great pictures from last night. They look very happy and sweet together.

Sometimes I really do think George is the last real movie star. He is so charming and affable!

That picture of Amal in front of the Hail Caesar poster is a great shot. The red in her dress looks like it coordinates with the Hail Caesar signage. I also liked that she did her hair differently ... pretty and glamorous look.

The dress is by Giambattista Valli, he made the dress she wore the day after her wedding it is very similar in design. I like this look old Hollywood glamour.

I've cut the dress to ballerina length, above ankle length (maybe and inch or two higher than red arrow)...perfect for Amals dress above...No white gloves. Kitten heels. The pink dress below shows how mass pleating CAN work if the dress is long enough and provides weight to keep them flat... Amal's skirt is puffing up, giving it a Barbie vibe...not sophisticated....

David wears a white shirt and tie....it shows respect!!!.....NO TURTLENECKS...OMG...

We saw George last week in white shirt and black coat....orgasmic!....HE CAN ROCK THE LOOK BETTER THAN BECKHAM EVEN....

Just want you to imagine....that amazing car gliding into view, George gets out adjusts his tie walks calmly to the back, stands by the number plate waves to the crown....opens the door for Amal this elegantly woman alights.....not the legs, please God not the legs, the cheese straws....it could have been a real Hollywood moment....instead it fell flat....

The George of my dreams, the elegant, sophisticated, genteel Gent from Kentucky, he would not have missed this trick.....but he seems to be gone....

This is business ppl! get your act together....

She seems to have bought into the idea that 40 is the new 20 (which it is only if you have amazing genes and a plastic surgeon on call Very Happy

). Maybe she's insecure when it comes to dressing for these public occasions, so she lets the designers or stylists make decisions for her. Either way, she needs to actually think about the impression she makes on the red carpet and stop listening to the media types- who would love nothing better than a wardrobe malfunction or crotch shot they could put all over the front page.

I've noticed that when they're out together he usually dresses much more casually than she does. As if he doesn't have to try anymore because he's married now - and she overdresses because she has something to prove.

One last thought. It seems that premiers have become a lot less formal than they used to be. It isn't just George who isn't all spiffed up. Not so much tuxes and gowns anymore - seems like almost anything goes.

I'm so predictable. Right? I'm here to defend Amal. From what I see and read about Amal she has always had her own style. It was evident before George. She certainly has expanded her designer wardrobe extensively since she has been in the public eye. But IMO I don't think she's catering to anyone but her own style. What she wore to the premiere is very much in line with her personal sense of style. Amal having something to prove is a matter of personal interpretation. I think she is just being herself. And having fun with her clothes without overthinking it too much. The white gloves at the GGs last year. Not everyone liked them but I liked that she wore them just because she felt like it.

Some people may not like the dress. There are others who do. It certainly is very appropriate for the event.
It's short. Yes. She likes short. She has lean legs and she can wear short dresses. She is a modern woman and not influenced by some unwritten rule that a woman in her 30s must not wear dresses a certain length.

As far as George's evening wear for this event ... well that's George being himself too. Not the first time he hasn't worn a suit to a premiere. May depend on the venue too.

I think Amal simply likes short dresses a lot of women do her sister also wears them. She is also one of the few women who put effort into how they look when out at an event, or simply out to dinner with her husband. No one dresses up anymore it's yoga pants jeans and sneakers even mature women dress like this. Looking nice is not a crime there was a time when women took pride in how they looked now just throw on jeans sneakers hoodie and done. Less I forget the awful leggings as pants.The same energy it takes to look like a slob is the same energy it takes to look nice and put together.
I think George just hates putting on a suit and tie he even said in one interview for the premiere they put it together so
quick there was not time , or they would be wearing tuxes and bow ties.

Donnamarie - Just to set the record straight, I think her work clothes and casual clothes are spot on. It's the ultra-minis she wears when they go out that I think are more suited to a young kid than a 38 year old woman. If that's her taste then so be it, but I think she could drop the hemline an inch or two an still get the same effect. It wouldn't ruin the dress and she would look more like the wife of a Hollywood megastar and less like a starlet trying to get attention.

Annemarie - My mom used to always say that just because everyone else is doing something doesn't mean that you have to. Hell, some stars are practically wearing spray paint or going nude. Should Amal follow their lead if it takes her fancy? And honestly, leggings bother you but crotch-baring skirts don't? scratch

I guess it's good that George's brain is still so awash in love pheromones that he apparently honestly believes that his wife is just "managing" to handle the fame and attention well, or that it's tough on her. She is now thisclose to doing the back-to-the-camera-pouty-look-over-the-shoulder movie star pose.

Question: Were any of the other male cast members' wives at the premiere? Was Scarlett Johansson (sp?) there? Amal is the only woman that I've seen pictures of.

As for George, he would have had to put on a Spandex tux and sequin tie to match Amal. His suit and turtleneck look fine to me.

Last thing. She has thin legs. Not pretty. Thin. Plenty of women manage to show off their legs but show less of them. Just saying.

I think this was a difficult choice for all as far as wardrobe was concerned.

It was really not a night for long dresses and tuxes, given that the Coens were definitely not going to go that way! Jenna Dewan-Tatum did and probably kept warmer in a quilt-like dress, but no sleeves! And you can actually see Amal saying she was freezing when she got out of the car.

Don't think she will ever give red carpet interviews as such. I think she just looks bemused at most of these things and is there, as George said, to support him. Given she's a vintage fan she would have loved those old cars

Scarlett Johannsen is in New Zealand filming. I don't think every cast member will be at every premiere anyway........

There are pictures of the other cast members at the premiere not just Amal. If the press chose to cover Amal more
than the rest that is not her fault. George was the biggest star in this movie of course he and his wife would get the attention.
Her dresses are not crotch baring short, short yes but definitely with enough length that we won't see anything. And yes leggings bother me I don't want to see any woman's vajajay or butt crack through their leggings.

Pan George said himself she doesn't want to do interviews. He is the star that is his job she let's him get on with it and he is fine with that.

i think they all were pretty cold by the time they got into the thearter.
