As you can see from this, Amal is a member of the the panel of experts for the British Government on preventing the sexual exploitation of women worldwide And has been since January 2013. And that is why she was at the Global Initiative in London last June

I think it was written about her being involved in this issue I can't remember where maybe someone else can.

We don't know what Amal is involved in she keeps things private even if we haven't heard it is a great that she is involved.

How does anyone know what Amal doesn't like are you privy to her life ?

I will echo what Annemarie said here. There is so much we don't know about Amal aside from the publicized legal cases she works on. Do we really think that is all that she does? If so that is a very simplistic assertion.

I also found the tone of your post ridiculous. You may not like Amal, you don't have to, but to allege that she just jumped onboard for PR is just nasty.
As PAN mentioned, Amal is a member on this panel since January 2013 - so way before she first met George. And it's right Amal doesn't let us know anything what she does apart from her cases. We don't know how much or less she works or how much she works on humanitarian issues.

It doesn't surprise me that Amal has an interest in the sexual abuse of women. In regimes where human rights are abused, the sexual abuse of women is common, it seems. Women are often degraded, humiliated and abused in such circumstances. I would think that being a woman and having an interest in human rights, Amal would have a lot of empathy with women who have been trafficked or abused.

No, Alison, I'm not an expert, but yes, I was there and pretty amazing it was too.

Those who organised it and managed to get representatives from the l00 or so countries involved to such a meeting and to sign the first ever protocol on the subject have to be admired.

JA already had a dozen of lawyers in his side , 2 of them are from Doughty Street , Only 3 of his Lawyers represented him in the UN , I believe Amal was hired - as others of his lawyers - for consulting - my english is horrible and I know .

Maybe PAN knows for sure but I thought that Jennifer Robinson, who is also with Doughty, is handling his case now. Same law firm.

Amal was associated with his case back in 2011.

Doughty Street Chambers are the lawyers representing Julian Assange. That team includes Geoffrey Robertson, QC, Jennifer Robinson (you may recognise her from the wedding) who also runs the Berthe Foundation for human rights and is an adjunct lecturer in law, Mark Stephens QC and Amal Clooney ( who was involved in his case against the Swedish Government). He can call on any other lawyers he likes depending on their specialisation.

As I said previously, the clients Amal represents are listed on Doughty Street Chambers website - in a pdf seven pages long. Have a look, Starlove!

I'm guessing that the part of Assange's case that Amal was working on has gone inactive for the time being. She's gotten involved in other things but will probably be available if her skills are needed.

I think Lizzy is right if and when she is needed she will work on the case. Amal has had her career well before meeting George I don't see him dictating to her what she should and shouldn't do. I don't think that would fly with her at all. I also don't think George is the kind of husband who would tell her what to do in her business.

You are entitled to your opinion starlove.

I completely disagree with you.

From what I know of George and everything I have read about him he would never dictate to anyone what they should and should not do. He took Amal to the White House when she was defending Assange. If he was concerned about how that would reflect on him he never would have taken her. She continued to work on his case afterwards and as far as we know she is still a part of Assange's legal team. That's my opinion.

1) I really doubt that George would say anything about whether Amal continues to work on Assange's case. She's part of the legal team hired to represent him and despite the publicity she gets - a junior member of the team, at that. If they need her to work on the case I'm sure she will.

2) George has never made a secret about how he feels about FB, Twitter and all social media. It's a matter of privacy and security for him. Anyone with him has to realize that and act accordingly. After all, why make his life (and yours) more difficult for no good reason.

3) George is obviously proud of Amal's work. If it embarrassed him at all he wouldn't be shouting her praises to the whole world. And, by the way, I"M one of the "normal" people who watches media of all kinds and it's hardly a shock to see who Amal defends. An annoyance maybe, but hardly a shock.
