George Clooney hasn't been shy about talking about new wife Amal Clooney during his Tomorrowland press tour.


As he winds up his first media blitz since becoming Mr Amal Clooney, we look back at some of the actor's most lovely quotes about his wife. From his marriage proposal to why he fell in love and even her 'eccentric' sense of style, this is the relationship of George and Amal in the Hollywood star's own words:

On his admiration for Amal: 'She's someone that I enjoy spending every minute of the day with and I'm very proud to be around, watching the things that she does I admire so greatly. I've always been involved in things other than this business long before I was successful at it, but she's been doing it kind of quietly and unheralded for a long, long period of time.'


On not being a power couple: 'I don't think of us as a power couple, because I don't know what that means. I would think a power couple is like... Bill and Hillary seems to be a power couple. I think we're just a couple with great interest in the human condition. I don't think of that as particularly powerful; I just think of it as our responsibility as people on the planet.'

On his marriage proposal: 'I knew fairly quickly that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with Amal (but) we had never talked about it so there wasn’t like a "Hey, maybe we should get married." Literally, I dropped it on her. And she just kept saying, "Oh my god," and "Wow" - completely unexpected. We just sat there and finally I said, "Listen, I’m 52 and I’ve been on my knee now for about 28 minutes, so I gotta get an answer out of this or I'm going to throw a hip out. I might not be able to stand back up."'



On dating Amal: 'I knew when I met her that she was super­extraordinary. I wondered if I would ever get a chance to date her. We were friends for a while and luckily she said yes.'

On why he fell in love with Amal: 'She's an amazing human being. And, she's caring. And, she also happens to be one of the smartest people I've ever met. And, she's got a great sense of humor. There's a number of reasons why [he fell in love].'


On Amal's sense of style: 'It's amazing, because she's always - since the day I met her - she's always had this insanely... it's eccentric but it's fun, sense of fashion. How she does it while she's got 11 cases she's working on, and she was teaching at Columbia, and she's still like, "I want to wear that dress." It's crazy. It has been sort of fascinating to watch, because she has such great taste.'


On how being married has changed him: 'I'm a much happier person and we have a very happy life. We enjoy many of the same things and I very much enjoy the projects that she takes on because they have real consequence.'

On the benefits of finding 'the one': 'I have someone who I can talk to about anything and someone who I care more about than I've cared about anybody.'

On how they keep their busy schedules under control: 'Our only adjustments are figuring out our schedules. Our deal is that we can't be more than a week apart. So far that's worked out pretty well.'


On arguments: 'The only way we resolve anything is by arm wrestling. That is my only chance of winning anything with her because if it's an intellectual battle, I would lose. She's the smart one in the family.'
