Trailer is more exciting...

It seems a very bland poster for what looks like an adventure movie. I hope it's not the official poster, because I don't think it will attract a lot of people. It makes it look like one of those sweet family movies that are really just for little kids. - Nice picture of George, though.

Lizzy I think it looks like the poster of Interstellar.

Maybe it's not about what the posters will do...
The Avengers poster is utterly crowded and ugly, yet people wont stop rushing to the theaters to watch that.
Trailers are more important for that matter IMO.

Sevens - Posters are important in newspaper ads and at the theaters - especially at multiplex theaters - where the most eye-catching, exciting poster will attract the attention of people who haven't decided what they want to see.

I would imagine (hope) that the "world beyond" part in the background is more engaging in the original.

Maybe it's designed for moviegoers who like -- or don't dislike -- light fantasy, but draw the line at sci-fi. Especially considering the disappointing showings in the genre lately. I think it de-emphasizes that aspect, and makes it a "people" story. At least, that's what I see.

Anyway, I don't like fantasy or sci-fi, and I find it appealing. And not just because George is in it.

Sevens - Maybe they'll be using more than one poster. I hope so, because IMO this one isn't very effective. It should give you a taste of what the movie is about and make you excited to see it. I don't think this one succeeds.

If you weren't already a fan who knows all about the movie, just by looking at the poster what would you think it was about? Ignoring the fact that it's George, would you think this is a movie you'd want to see?

Yep, but then I LOVE sci-fi so anything even remotely futuristic pulls me in.

Shouldn't we be seeing trailers on TV about now?  I haven't seen any.  Anybody else?

I'm not sure where this belongs, but because it's about "Tomorrowland" I'm putting it here.
Something is strange about the release of this movie. I've seen three "best of the summer movies" lists on line and in the newspapers. Only one mentioned "Tomorrowland" at all, and that was only to list it as a release - no comment about buzz. I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with the  movie. I really hope not. Way2Old, what do you think?

I don't know at all. Maybe there is a glitch in post-production or something. Remember, Gravity had some issues, and it turned out better than okay because they took the time to make it right. Or maybe Disney has put a clamp on the rollout. Most 'buzz' lists are from critics who get screeners or extended excerpts, or invited to private screenings, and Tomorrowland isn't doing that kind of marketing. So maybe that's it. You know, "You don't give me something, then I don't talk about your movie, even if it does have George Clooney and is directed by Brad Bird."

Does Disney have another movie coming out in the next week or so,? If so, they wouldn't want to 'cannibalize' the marketing. But I don't know their slate or release schedule.

It could just be that the marketing guys have decided that Tomorrowland is a certain kind of movie that needs a short window of very niched hype to stay top-of-mind, considering the franchise superhero and fantasy movies that are about to bombard the market, and the advertising-in-overdrive that comes with them.

All of which is to say, "I don't know."

Those are all reasonable possibilities Way2.  You have such keen insight into the machinations of the movie business.  Any one of your scenarios could be the reason for no buzz.  But after all the hype last week over the new trailer for the next installment of Star Wars (which will release in December) I just thought hey what about Tomorrowland?  There has been such secrecy over this movie maybe the studio just wants to keep the public in the dark as long as they can.  Part of the hype.  But I would think even 15 second ads would be a terrific tease.

The 12 minute-clip in Disneyland and EPCOT has got really positive audience reactions. I saw a clip shot by a smart phone online(just couldn't help it) and agree-it's magical, awesome and amazing! I wont spoil anything here, but you should just check this out on the biggest screen possible.
If you search on Twitter, everyone was blown away by that preview. Some cried, some want to see the midnight showing and some already have to see the preview many times.
A guy says at his second screening of the clip, all the kids in the audience went crazy and shouted they want to see this film.
The most important thing in that clip seems to be its heartfelt core. In just ten minutes, you have fallen in love with the little Clooney.(George himself doesn't show up.)
The preview will continue in both parks until the movie comes out. The great audience reactions will get enough buzz for it by then.
