George Clooney Says Wife Amal Is 'Smart One' in Relationship
George Clooney dons a fedora while exiting the Carlyle on Wednesday (March 4) in New York City.
The day before, the 53-year-old actor was seen holding onto some mail while out and about in the Big Apple
Earlier in the week, George made a speech at the SeriousFun Children’s Network Gala, saying, “Today, there isn’t just one camp, but there’s a thriving community in the U.S., in Europe, in Israel. Since 1988, these camps have brought over a half-million sick kids and their families from over five hun… – over 50 countries – five hundred countries would be too many. There aren’t actually that many.”
He added, “My wife’s the smart one.”

Hats off to him! George Clooney looks like Professor Higgins in My Fair Lady as he steps out with an old-fashioned lid
He has said My Fair Lady ranks among his favorite films of all time.
And George Clooney appeared to be taking inspiration from the musical when he exited The Carlyle hotel in New York City on Wednesday.
Looking dapper wearing a classic-style fedora, the 53-year-old channeled the gentlemanly likeness of the character Professor Henry Higgins.

Hat's all folks: George Clooney appeared to be taking inspiration from the musical My Fair Lady when he exited The Carlyle hotel in New York City on Wednesday looking like late actor Rex Harrison's character Professor Henry Higgins (at right)
The spirit that George seemingly brought to life was played by Rex Harrison in the 1963 big screen adaptation - who famously gave elocution lessons to Eliza Dolittle, played by Audrey Hepburn, in a bid to make the ill-bred lady presentable to London's high society set.
The forever-heartthrob completed his ensemble with a black pea coat, jeans, tan shoes, and a grey scarf.
A female onlooker was so enthralled by the sight that she stood rubbernecked in the cold and did not take her eyes off his topper as he made his way on the Outing.

Meanwhile, it was the dashing actor's charming ways that was on show days earlier that saved him from being left red-faced while flubbing his lines at a charity gala for SeriousFun Children's Network on Monday.
While talking about how many countries the charity has served, the Oscar winner overestimated the number of nations there are in the world by a few hundred.
'Since 1988, these camps have [helped] over a half million sick kids and their families from over five, from over 50, not just 500 countries... that would be too many,' he trailed off, realizing he committed the gaffe by doubling the correct number.

He likes it: In an interview with Parade magazine, George named My Fair Lady among his favorite films of all time
'There aren't that many... Are there 500 countries?' he continued, before admitting defeat: 'My wife's the smart one.'
Ahead of his speech, the silver fox spoke to Extra about why he stepped out without his 37-year-old lawyer wife.
'She's trying to get a guy out of prison in Egypt I think, so she's working,' he said. 'She's got her own, she's got a lot of stuff to do.'
Speaking of marital bliss with the beauty, who he wed in September last year, he added: 'I'm very happy. It's exciting. I really love my wife, I’m having a great time and I’m very proud of her. I couldn’t be more proud of the things she does.'
A day later on Tuesday, Amal joined George for dinner at Greenwich Village Italian eatery Carbone.
However, in a surprising move, the A-list couple was turned away two hours ahead of attempting to snag a reservation because the trendy restaurant was full, New York Daily News reports.
The newlyweds were keen on dining at the pricey restaurant and inquired about being seated an hour later than they had hoped, but they were denied again.
'They tried to get reservations at 8:30, which was a no-go, so they tried 9:30,' a source revealed to the tabloid.
'It says a lot about New York restaurants: If a dining room is full, that’s the end of the story. They don’t care if you’re an A-lister or a regular - they treat everyone the same.'
The restaurant eventually did allow the couple to 'sample delicacies' at a 'quieter' time.

I only wish, Jo, but it wasn't me.
A. I'm taller
B. I'm, a New Yorker - we haven't seen the sun for months, so no west coast tan - real
or sprayed.
C. I wouldn't be caught dead in fur - let alone mink with chinos - totally tacky!
D. I'm a born and bred New Yorker and she's a tourist. How can I tell? We NYers live in
black from November til April. Our winter weather is way too sloppy/dirty for light
colored clothes.
Other than that, add a few inches, darker hair, and a not-quite-so-idiotic look on her face (what on earth is she so puzzled about?) and it could definitely be me!

Nah! I'd be the hat destroyer! Don't like it at all.
Besides, I'm hibernating! It's snowing AGAIN and we're due to get at least another 3-5 inches. Then the temperatures are supposed to drop and everything s going to freeze over so walking will be lots of fun! I HATE THIS WEATHER!!! I'm not going out again until it all melts!

All of it Lizzy? Here on SI, I figure that would be about April 30, or so. If you're in the city itself, maybe April 1.

Seriously, have the plows been out where you are? They've been through here on the main road, but the side streets are just filling up. I can't wait til they pile it all up at the curb so we can't cross the street without a forklift! Phooey!

I love my George, won't say a bad word about him....he is always beautiful.....on the inside more than the out.....However THAT hat....It's bad in every sense of the word...bad fit, bad taste, bad bi-coloured trilby.....wtf!!!
He should stick to baseball...or the winter alternative Irish flat cap, Irish wool great in cold weather!... (never ever wear in Ireland unless you live and breath in the Country...or you look like a yanky tourist circa 1969-1989 i.e. A plonker)
Fine looking fella in his cap;

Jo, he might have been flying to UK, with that hat he won't look out of place at Bury Market or Cheltenham Racecourse......Sorry can't help thinking he is going to sell me a dodgy second hand car.....Arthur Daley is alive and well and living in LA under a trendy(?) bi-coloured trilby.

Why do you think George was flying out of NY? Thought he was off from the hotel to go to work filming. He's pretty much dressed the same and carrying the same sack he used for the first day of filming.

I agree with Annemarie. He was probably on his way to work. If he was planning to fly somewhere he might well have been disappointed, because the weather is causing delays and cancellations all over the place. - And it's STILL snowing!
PS - I don't necessarily dislike him in a trilby, I just think this one is ugly.

I don't care if he does look like a cold-weather Inspector Gadget. Under that ugly-ass hat is George Clooney. He could wear a do-rag, for all I care. I'd laugh my wide ass off and wonder what the fuck he was trying to prove, but I'd still take him.

BTW, I wonder if the pic of him in the dress slacks and shoes and carrying the suit coat is on the way to the Newman fundraiser thing. Definitely not the same time as the other pics. Which means he packed the damn hat and he's staying with it.

Lizzy, they're doing pretty good out here. Our street (our whole area) is being plowed regularly. Don't know about main streets, but with the new "program", we've been getting great service (they've been down our block 3 or 4 times while it was still snowing. Can't complain in that respect. As for "piling ", too many people park in the street here so they have to push it on down the street to the end. As I haven't set foot outside since Saturday (went to great grandson's 1st birthday in CT), I don't know what bottom of street looks like. There is a YMCA ball field there so they can probably pile it up against the fences there.
Stay warm and snuggly under those covers and dream of hot summer sunshine.

Pattygirl - Glad to hear they've finally realized that SI is part of the city! I have friends out there who tell me they feel like the only time they see a plow is when one gets lost on its way to one of the other boroughs. Be careful when you do go out. It's really cold and it's slippery out there.
Back on topic. It might have made sense for them to try and find somewhere for the cast and crew to stay in Queens. Then they'd be closer to the studio and wouldn't have to deal with weather and traffic problems. I guess it's too far from all the a-list amenities of Manhattan.
