Nicky-- the instagram explains it. It's not calculations it's a list of details of test shots. Lens type, film speed, camera f stop, etc.

Quiet on the set! Jodie Foster bundles up for the cold as she directs the first day of filming for Money Monster in New York City

Jodie Foster had to bundle up carefully in order to begin directing her upcoming movie Money Monster.

The 52-year-old actress and filmmaker was spotted on the New York City set on Thursday, wearing several layers of clothing.

It was only the first day of production for the movie - which stars George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Dominic West - but Jodie was already working hard.

Experienced: Money Monster will mark the fourth time Jodie Foster has directed a feature film (earlier movies are Little Man Tate, Home For The Holidays, and The Beaver), pictured on Thursday in New York

Jodie wore her blonde hair loose and straight - when not covered by a ski hat, her locks hung freely to her shoulders.

The two-time Oscar winner did not appear to be wearing any makeup and stuck with glasses instead of contacts, letting her natural good looks shine through during the day's intense job.

For clothing, Jodie was all about layers and had at least four tops visible on the cold day.

Beginnings: With no set release date in 2015, Money Monster only began filming on Thursday

At the lowest level, she had a white shirt with a round collar, covered first by a red-coloured fleece and then by a puffy black jacket.

A black overcoat sporting a faux-fur-lined hood was Jodie's outer layer for the set.

The rest of this practical outfit consisted of blue jeans stuffed into black snow boots that rose to just above the ankle.

Warmth: Since it was a cold day for filming, Jodie was bundled up in multiple layers - at least four on top - with jeans and a ski hat

Money Monster marks the fourth time Jodie has directed a feature film, with her previous efforts being Little Man Tate (1991), Home For The Holidays (1995), and The Beaver (2011).

She has also directed three episodes of Netflix television shows: for Orange Is The New Black in 2013 and 2014 and for House Of Cards in 2014.

In this newest film, Clooney will play the host of a stock-investment show who makes a single bad call on an investment opportunity.

In charge: The actress turned filmmaker looked happy to be on a movie set again

After losing all of his money, one investor (played by Jack O'Connell) storms the TV studio and threatens to kill Clooney's character if he does not make his money back.

The CEO of the failing company (played by Cooper), meanwhile, guiltily tries to hide when the crisis erupts.

There is no release date set for Money Monster, which is expected to premiere late in 2015.

Even better known for her acting than her directing, Jodie Foster has been a public figure for most of her life.

George hasn't been seen yet in New York. Doesn't mean he's not there but knowing the weather was less than desirable maybe he and you know who decided to take a mini vacation to someplace warm before George starts this movie.

I'm with you LizzyNY and annemarie. We got more snow yesterday. More shoveling. Ugh. I'm done with winter. And we didn't get it as bad as NY or Boston but it's been just as cold. Stay warm!

Question: In just over a week three actors have "just" been signed to be in Money Monster. If the film has started shooting why would they be adding actors at this late date. I've always assumed before a film starts shooting the cast is set. Or is it that these actors had been signed at an earlier date but their names are just now being released to the media?

If scheduling is an issue, or there's a tight shooting schedule, or things have to get rolling by a certain date because of certain contract parameters, sometimes actors will be attached to a project with a Letter of Intent and a deal memo, while the final contract points get worked out. So maybe they were in the cast all along, but not announced until signatures were on the dotted lines.

Or, it just may be that the actors who were recently signed didn't have scenes to shoot early in the production, and the roles were indeed recently filled.
