Hollywood's modern-day Clark Gable joins the 50-plus crowd

by: Bill Newcott | from: AARP The Magazine | May/June 2011 issue

The Big 5-Oh: May 6

He's still our generation's best answer to Clark Gable — women want him, men want to be him — but no one can address the matter of George Clooney's turning 50 better than George Clooney himself: "It's an interesting thing to watch yourself grow older on-screen," he told The Daily Telegraph of London. "I was watching Up in the Air and I thought, 'Who's the old gray-haired guy?' And it was me. I never wear makeup for movies, and now it's starting to show."

Don't fret, George. We're just happy to know that Hollywood's coolest guy is now on our side.

Is this just a story on George or did they actually interview him? I think it's a riot that George is on the other side of 50 (at least in some parts of the world for now). The moment I turned 49, AARP started sending me membership information, so George has probably received his invite in the mail already.

Carra, I think they are just using him as their poster boy!! Doesn't sound like an interview to me. And, with using that painting instead of a real picture, he probably turned them down for an interview - "I'm not old enough for AARP!!!"
