Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
Yes! Got up early to see it! I'd gotten up years ago to see Charles and Diana's as well. Kate looked beautiful, loved her dress! Her sister looked amazing in her dress. The kids looked incredible, the Abbey looked enchanting...just beautiful.
Question...why doesn't the Queen wear a crown, instead of a hat?

not sure about the queen but Kate wore one of the Queen Mums tiara's

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
I watched it still am. The Queen only wears a crown to State Political events the wedding is a family thing and in the day. Nice of Prince Andrew to give her that tiara she would have got one from the Queen as well that is a tradition. I thought the dress was nice especially the top but it lacked sparkle and wow for me. I have seen many like it and no real surprise she always looks nice, makeup could have been a little more subtle. I didn't like her sister being in white people actually gasped when she got out of the car it looked too bridal and not like a bridesmaids dress. The little ones reminded me off the dresses Dianas bridesmaids dresses same colouring etc. William and Harry looked very smart! Did anyone see Princess Beatrice's hat? Looked like antlers or a tree limb stupid hat her sisters outfit was bizarre as well.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
lol! the Princess's hat made her look like Cindy Lou from Who Ville! I thought the tiara she wore was one of the Queens?
Still watching also....just saw the kiss-es!!! They're sooo cute! Diana would have been so proud.
Re-watching it...they just said that the tiara was from the Queen, and that she'd received it from her mother when she was 18...

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
Got up at 3am just to watch, remember C&D's so I couldn't miss this one. I'am so happy for Will, that un-like his parents he is marrying for love. That they've taken the time to get to know one another. She looked beautiful, her dress was simple but elegant, everyone in wedding party was so happy and relaxed. Kate's got a good-looking family. Going to watch later today to she if I can catch a better look at Fergies girls, I missed their arrival at the church.

I watched some of it while I was getting ready to work out. I thought Kate looked very beautiful and elegant. I love that her hair was down, a big no-no with royal women getting married apparently. Poor William, going bald so young but he looked very handsome.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
The BBC managed to miss our Belgian Royals, not one camerashot ! Really !!! We've got a really funny couple and not ONE SHOT !!! Britttssssssssssss !
Pippa's dress was great and she looks so much better than Kate.
And yes loved that one special hat of that nutball !
And William had a touch of Ireland there, a costume from the Irish garde.
Watched 3 hours of history of British Royal Weddings on the ZDF.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
I watched some of the replay, and my favorite, as always, was the Queen! Her yellow, snazzy suit! Her hat was sharp and smart. I want that hat!
The Queen is no one's b.itch! At one point, when she and her hubby were about to enter the carriage, she motioned to him to go first, and he did! Because she wears the pants in that family.
And she has all the jewelry at her disposal! You want a tiara, better be on good terms with the Queen. She's my girl.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
Pippa is getting as much attention as the bride I don't think it was a good choice for a bridesmaids dress she looked like the bride! Bea and Eugenia are being ripped apart between their hats and outfits gee that sure got Fergies bad dress sense gene! Loved watching Phil and Liz people were taking bets on if he would fall asleep poor guy he is 89! Harry may off got the red hair but at least he still has all of it!

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
I thought Pippa's dress was way too much. Too sexy, too slinky, too evening. Not that bridesmaid's have to go with the frumpy ugly dress, but what she wore was a little OTT.
Loved Kate's (sorry, Catherine) dress but her makeup was a little too heavy for my liking. And yeah, there wasn't a great deal of love or passion in the peck on the mouth on the balcony. Maybe both were more distracted by the crowds than by each other so I guess we can give George a break on his lack of affectionate PDAs if Prince William can't do it either!

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
I loved Pippa's dress, she looked beautiful without stealing the attention away from the bride. The way they do it in UK, with wedding party(females) wearing similar styles, and coloring, I wish we had the same tradition here in US. If you've ever been to a wedding here you know yanks have some of the ugliest maid of honor-brides-maid dresses, it's our tradition.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
It's one of our traditions too - usually bridesmaids dresses are fugly. I've worn some monstrosities in my time!
It's more fashionable now to have matching colour schemes and allow the bridesmaids to buy their own dresses so that they look stylish but I've got to say Pippa was definitely husband shopping in that dress!

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
Actually people are saying that Pippa stole some of the limelight wearing that dress which she did. It was more a brides dress to me and there are lots of colours besides white she could have worn. I just thought it was too safe with the colour scheme a little colour would have been good. She has a bloke not sure how long she has been with him for but maybe she will be the next Middleton to marry.

I heard from my gf last night that the white dress Pippa wore was chosen by Katherine. I think it's in bad style for a bridesmaid to wear white but apparently she had no choice.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
It's was nice of Kate to give her sister some of the limelight. I wouldn't have done it but it's not like she needed any more attention and it was a knockout dress, although the orange tan wasn't great. Talk about putting her on the market though, I'm surprised her telephone number wasn't stitched in to Kate's train.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
I was going to say, Kate had to have known what Pippa was wearing - IMHO.cindigirl wrote:I heard from my gf last night that the white dress Pippa wore was chosen by Katherine. I think it's in bad style for a bridesmaid to wear white but apparently she had no choice.
About the gown -
The dress is made of French Chantilly lace and English Cluny lace throughout the bodice, skirt and underskirt. The dress, made of ivory and white satin gazar, was designed to emulate an opening flower. The train measures almost nine feet long.
The lace applique for the bodice and skirt was hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework. Individual flowers were hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create the dress' design, which incorporates the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock. The back of the dress was finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons fastened by Rouleau loops.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
Now my opinions - I was sooooooooo disappointed in her. She just became a Princeness with over 2 billion people watching. She has every day to look "plain", this is the one day that she has to look elegent. This is the one day any bride should look elegent within one's means.
Veil - It looked like the "old lady in church" style to me. 2 layers might have been nicer. The bottom to the top or just covering her and the top layer that falls in front, than flipped over, just past her shoulders and something to give it lift. It def should have been more poufy.
Hair - should have been up
Makeup - I know to be "photo ready" it needs to be heavier (the photos will tell, unless photoshopped), but the blush was all wrong. Sorry to say it was as if a young girl trying on makeup for the first time. Her eyebrows seemed extra dark, too. Between the brows and blush, I can't even remember if she had on lipstick. LOL! Read gossip somewhere that she and her sister did their own makeup.
Dress - back and bottom was lovely. The lace offset the "plainness" and it had a nice V-plunge. But, the "cups" could have been more rounder/softer. Maybe if they had used a demi-cup, uplift I wouldn't have kept thinking of Madonna's pointy-bra. LOL!

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
I thought the top part of Kate's dress was very pretty, but the bottom half looked dowdy to me. And I think Pippa's dress was a little risque to be a MOH dress, especially as formal as this event. I also think Kate should have done something with her hair, anything that made it look a little more glam than her everyday hanging hair style. But you can see in the images how in love they are, and that's what really matters to me. I also like that the vows said that they would take no others. If that is common, I dont remember ever hearing it before, and I have photographed weddings for a long long time. But I think it is a great addition to the vows. Yes, the chaste kiss on the balcony was not romantic, but I am not familiar with Windsor protocol, and maybe that is all that is allowed in public? I do truly wish them an amazing future filled with love, compassion for each other and their country, and the wisdom to balance it all.

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
They are love which is great. Wills didn't want to make the same mistake his father did. Pippa is supposed to be engaged but has been keeping it quiet by alot of reports. I saw a list of her exes all very rich well to do boys! I think the makeup was a mistake I remember Diana's and Fergies wedding neither wore makeup like clowns they should have gotten a professional who knew what they were doing. So far the press have barely mentioned the makeup but boring has been bandied about where the dress is concerned. She played it way too safe she has no excuse she could have really sparkled but I think safe and boring is and will continue to be her "style". But William likes her that way the press however will be another story. Wait till the honeymoon is over! Now at least they can't use Waity Katie anymore they will need to think of a new nickname for her. I predict in the next couple of months the baby rumours will start and if she eats anything and has the slightest bulge it will make headlines. LOL

I also liked the fact that their exes were invited. William sure loves blonds!
If George were to do this, nobody else could sit in front, all those chairs filled with exes !!!
BBC reported that William, just like his dad, was pressured to get married. Funny !

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
After so long together any pressure would coming from her. That is apperantly why they split a couple of years ago. She expected to be asked, Wills talked to Charles and he advised him to stop leading her on or to do it. Hence the little breakup at least he got a couple of years more to think about it. Kate was probably too scared to bring it up again. Harry on the other hand no pressure at all he can do what he wants and he knows it! LOL

Re: Is anyone watching the royal wedding?
A nice little anecdote about the Royal Wedding last year !
http://news.uk.msn.com/articles.aspx?cp-documentid=250052453
22 May 2012 14:36 | By pa.press.net
William 'tore up wedding guestlist'
The Duke of Cambridge has revealed how he tore up the official guestlist for his wedding on the Queen's advice.
William also revealed he got just half an hour's sleep the night before his wedding because of his nerves and the noise of the crowds camped out on the Mall.
The royal was interviewed by Alan Titchmarsh for an ITV1 documentary about his grandmother called
Elizabeth: Queen, Wife, Mother.
In an extract published in this week's Radio Times,
William said: "There was very much a subdued moment when I was handed a list with 777 names on - not one person I knew or Catherine knew.
"I went to her and said,
'Listen, I've got this list, not one person I know - what do I do?' and she went,
'Get rid of it. Start from your friends and then we'll add those we need to in due course. It's your day.'"
William admitted it would be a hard act to follow the Queen who celebrates her Diamond Jubilee later this year.
He said: "There's not much wriggle room left for me to try and find my own path but I will do.
It's just a matter of learning what's gone before me.
She's an incredible role model.
I would like to take all of her experiences, all of her knowledge
and put it in a small box and to be able to constantly refer to it."
Titchmarsh, who spoke to several members of the royal family for the documentary, said William will have to wait to become king.
He told the Radio Times: "The idea that the succession might miss out Prince Charles altogether, and go straight to William, just because he's a young man who's married a glamorous young woman ... I mean, come on, this isn't Hollywood. This is the United Kingdom, not Tinseltown; our history stretches back a bit further."
