Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
Google:
Armani will dress the "Yes" Clooney
And on the Lario an informal party
Giorgio Armani will dress up for the highly anticipated George Clooney yes the Hollywood star with the lawyer Amal Alamuddin. On the sidelines of the parade Emporio, it was the same designer to confirm the rumors.
"We did the last test a few days ago," revealed the king of the made in Italy.
And there could be another surprise if the matriimonio will be held in Venice, there will be something in Como: an informal garden party at Villa Oleandra and Villa d'Este. It remains to be seen whether it will be before or after the wedding in the lagoon.

Too many parties before the major event waters down the Big Event, yes?

Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
Nope. But then I'm a big believer in why have one party when you could have two! Double the fun.
Look at how most people's weddings are when it's people from two different countries marrying: stag night/hen night, maybe a quiet(er) night with family and friends who aren't party animals, the rehearsal dinner, the wedding, the legal bit, some post-wedding get togethers with people who couldn't make it/weren't on the guest list for one reason or another.

Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
Well, yes, but I think it depends how many hundreds of friends you have between you. And if your wedding is small of course
Anyway this story sort of confirms what Kathy Lette said in the Evening Standard - that they weren't going to the wedding, but afterwards to Como........

That has to be an odd invitation...
Dear PAN
While you aren't invited to our wedding ceremony, we'd like to invite to to a pre or post wedding party.
Very sincerely yours
George Timothy Clooney

LOL, only if you were dumb enough to phrase it like that!

Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
Regardless of how it's phrased, that's what it means! And since these guests had to receive some sort of invitation.....can you imagine how excited someone got getting the invitation ( and I'm confident he sent out formal invites, not a save the day email) opening it and reading something along theses lines...
Hi friend, don't take this personally, but you aren't good enough to share in the big day.. that's for really special/powerful people. But we'd love to have you over for pizza and beer, at a fabulous locale.

The smaller the party the more privacy they can have. Any friend of the couple would understand this. Sure it may be disappointing that you only got an invite to an after party and not the event - until you talk to someone that didn't receive any invitation.

Lighten up people... it's meant to be light hearted. Everyone is getting sooooooooooooooo serious as we near the end of September. He's really getting married NOW. Laugh have a drink or 2 ( or 5) and enjoy the ride

Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
If he sent out invites to an after party he would definitely not phrase it like that. people who have destination weddings often have parties for guests who weren't invited due to destination or size of the wedding. No one should be offended by that .

Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
You'd have to be really churlish to be offended. Everyone's used to the fact that weddings have different people invited to different events. In the UK it's common for people to be invited to the reception but not to the wedding itself. Likewise with other pre- and post-wedding parties.
People understand that there's an event in London for London-based friends who won't be at the wedding. George and Amal will have a whole group of friends and family in Italy, probably travelling from Como to Venice and back with them. What are they supposed to do? Not spend any time with them in Como? Of course there are going to be dinners, drinks and fun until the early hours of the morning when you've got a houseful full of friends on the weekend of your wedding.

Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
Here in UK it's become "the norm" now to have
a formal "after wedding celebration" with close family & friends.
Then later in the evening a wider circle of friends are invited to an informal
"bash" of some kind.
No one feels insulted because they're not there for the whole event.....they're quite often relieved as it can be a long day !
PS..PP.... I am very lightened up and enjoying the ride immensely ! LOL

Guess my sense of humor is different, particularly today. I was simply making jest of the situation. I don't actually care if they have 8 parties and 3 of them are raided.
(been in and out of medical jonnies all day.. have taken my clothes off more times since 8Am than a stripper on a busy night )

Re: Party at Villa d'Este and Laglio?
I only wish I could be a part of it. As it is I'll just have my own glass of champagne (or tequila) and have to toast him from home. I'm sure George throws great parties and makes sure everyone has a good time. I can just see him at all of these pre and post events going around making sure everybody has a drink in hand and wanting to know if he can get them anything. I get the impression he is very hands on when entertaining in Como anyway. Anyway, cin cin George and Amal!

PigPen - Hope everything's ok. A day at the doctor's can mess with anyone's head.
Would anyone here turn down an invite to one of the after-parties? Insulted or not, I'd be there with bells on!

I hope any "wedding parties" parties are memorable for all who attend.
I wonder if anyone will Tweet a TAY message in the future for us to enjoy ?
(Is that the right abbreviation ?) LOL

And I'll bet it's a bitch that you have to pay THEM instead of them throwing cash at you!
Hope all is well. :-)
