Re: SUMMER REWATCH: Syriana discussion
Syriana is the film that I have to think about while watching, with one scene that I cannot watch !
And I don't really understand the ending and why
he had to be there trying to stop the cars with
the white "flag"? Maybe someone can enlighten me ?

He found out that they wanted to kill the Arabic prince (or whatever his title was). That's why he went there to stop the caravan he used the white flag that they didn't shoot him I think while he started stopping them and a way to show he comes in peace. But then it was too late anyway...

Re: SUMMER REWATCH: Syriana discussion
I haven't rewatched yet because this movie bothers me. I thought George was great in the part, but like IOM, the ending annoyed me. I knew exactly what was coming. Evil government and industrial interests destroy real hope for change in the name of profit and power.
I'm not saying it isn't true, but it also isn't new. Just too predictable.

Re: SUMMER REWATCH: Syriana discussion
I'm putting this here and hope it's the best thread. Can't provide the link but if you google George there is a WGN Radio interview with Robert Baer, the CIA guy who wrote the book that Syriana was based on and whose character George played. Anyway besides talking about his work he talks about George and his crazy life and the fact he had met Amal before George even knew her. It's about an 18 minute interview. Very interesting.

Here it is. Radio interview is in the link
at 13:25 minutes it starts about George
Robert Baer: CIA agent-turned-author talks assassination, ISIS and George Clooney
Robert B. Baer is one of the most accomplished agents in CIA history and the author of four New York Times bestsellers, including See No Evil—the basis for the film Syriana. He joins Bob and Marianne to talk about his new book, THE PERFECT KILL, which looks at the history and theory of political assassination. He also weighs in on the real danger of ISIS and the crazy life George Clooney leads.
