Can't say I've ever seen this show - or even heard of it before I became a George fan. Was it any good?

TV Land presents Pop Culture Award to Facts of Life
April 11th, 2011 7:42 pm ET .
TV Land presented the Pop Culture Award to the 1980s sitcom “The Facts of Life” on April 10, 2011. The TV Land Awards in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and will be broadcast on TV Land on April 17, 2011. Series stars Mindy Cohn, Kim Fields, Nancy McKeon, Lisa Whelchel and the beloved Mrs. Garrett, Charlotte Rae, reunited for the first time in 20 years to accept the award on Sunday.
“The Facts of Life,” a coming-of-age sitcom that ran on NBC from 1979-1988. Set in Peekskill, NY, “The Facts of Life” ran for nine seasons and was a spin-off of the sitcom “Diff'rent Strokes” featuring the Drummonds' housekeeper Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae) as she becomes a housemother at Eastland School, a prestigious all-female boarding school.
The house of live-in girls included the wealthy and beautiful Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel), the gossipy roller-skating Dorothy "Tootie" Ramsey (Kim Fields), innocent Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn) and streetwise Joanne “Jo” Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon). The friends share the ups and downs of growing up – from teenagers to young women – all while leaning on each other.
Later in the series, the girls go on to help Mrs. Garrett open her own dessert shop and are introduced to Garrett’s contractor George Burnett (George Clooney). After a devastating fire, the business is remodeled into a gift shop and ultimately Mrs. Garrett’s divorced sister Beverly Ann Stickle (Cloris Leachmen) moves in to look after the girls and eventually adopts a young man who works at the gift shop, Andy Moffet (Mackenzie Astin).
The TV Land Awards recognized icons of classic TV. The cast of "Welcome Back Kotter" were on hand to mark the 35th annniversary of the series. Welcome Back Kotter at TV Land Awards

I use to watch it. It wasn't what I would call 'good' but I was much younger then so my tastes were different.

Yes, came another source stating the same fact.
I fell in love with this cutie way back then when I was a teenager even before he became famous! He had gorgeous black hair and was so gooooood around those girls! Yummylicious. Looked forward to the show every week. I still watch some of those clips on youtube sometimes.

Re: The Facts Of Life
I started watching the show back in 1979 when I was 17. I was in high school then, and I went to an all-girls Catholic school in Cincinnati. I liked to watch the show because I could relate to a lot of the action in the show, i.e., the culture of being in an all-female environment. Blair was my "verbal punching bag," because she reminded me of the girls who were catty and b*tchy at my school.

George was SO HOT in that series. When I was watching ti back then, and realizing that he and I were in the same hometown city a few years prior to his first appearance on the show, but never crossed paths, made me wonder, "Well, What If?..."

Well, saturday I watched The Millionaire's Matchmaker and surprise, surprise our little Matchmaker had someone on her show from ... Kentucky, he had a dog and a parrot and he didn't know how to communicate with a girl. She said he was as lazy as a whale on the beach and other kind stuff. I couldn't but associate him with G.C. and I laughed myself SILLY all day.

Remembering 'The Facts Of Life's' Now-Famous Faces, 25 Years After The Finale Aired (VIDEO)
The Huffington Post | By Chris Harnick
Posted: 05/07/2013
It's the 25th anniversary of "The Facts Of Life" finale on Tuesday, May 7. Yes, it's been a quarter century since Blair (Lisa Whelchel), Tootie (Kim Fields), Natalie (Mindy Cohn) and Jo (Nancy McKeon) signed off of NBC after 209 episodes.
"The Facts of Life," which was a spinoff of "Diff'rent Strokes," starred Charlotte Rae as Mrs. Garrett, the dorm mother at an all-girls school. Over the course of the show's nine-year run, "The Facts Of Life" welcomed many famous faces. From series regulars Molly Ringwald and George Clooney to guest stars David Spade and Helen Hunt, a bevy of now well-known actors got their starts on "The Facts Of Life."

Well this forum would go piss to hell if we couldn't say anything negative about George.
But that's for another topic.
As to Facts of Life - I watched that show and have to say I don't remember George on it at all. Probably that floppy hair he was sporting at the time.

It is only 2:15 minutes long. And at 1:30 minute it starts about George

THE FACTS OF LIFE!
I am such a huge fan of Facts of Life, seriously, it’s one of my favorite shows. As a kid, I used to watch the show everyday in syndication. I can’t believe that it lasted nine years! It was never a huge ratings smash but it was a reliable hit and anchored several nights including the difficult Saturday night comedy block on NBC.
Pinky is also a huge fan of the series and was able to meet Natalie Green herself! So jealous!
Check out her full recap below![You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Hello, my lovelies. Pinky Lovejoy-Coogan here with my sincere apologies for the delayed post, as I was, well, NOT laboring yesterday (ha – see what I did there? It’s OK, I know, I know, it’s terrible).
Still, I was excited to write this week’s post as I recently met someone I’ve wanted to meet my entire life – and it was such a fluke! A few weeks ago I was meeting up with my girl Liz to explore some pre-Emmy parties and see how they’d be. When we met, she told me she’d ridden the elevator up from the parking garage with “someone you loved from one of your shows like Happy Days.”
Um, that was kinda vague, so I didn’t think very much of it.
Over the next hour, she asked me to name people from various shows, but none of them were who she’d seen. Finally, we figured it out – it was Mindy Cohn from The Facts of Life!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Now, this threw me a bit, as I don’t really classify that show in the same time period as Happy Days, but to my young, sweet, Liz, they’re all the same (bless her heart).
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I’m SO happy she figured it out, though, because I got to meet “Natalie Green” herself!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
As we weren’t sure where Mindy was – having dinner at a restaurant? Meeting someone for drinks? - I checked her Twitter and saw that she’d tweeted she was at an event in the same hotel we were at. Hooray!
I was worried we’d have to wait a long time, since the event had just started, but before we knew it, there she was, chatting with a friend outside. Natalie Green in the flesh! Before she went back in she was kind enough to pose for a photo with me and that’s when I totally “pulled a Pinky” and did my nervous talking thing.
I told her what a huge fan I was, how excited I was for the big Facts of Life reunion coming up, how I’d be bringing my lunchbox, and how we were having special shirts custom made. I have no idea why she needed to know this information, but I must’ve blurted it all out in like thirty seconds. Egads!
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I’m sure Mikey’s sad he missed that entertainment, because my “pulling a Pinky” is his favorite thing in the world.
(Editor’s Note: It so is! It’s so fun to watch! M-)
Either way, I was super stoked to meet Mindy and can’t wait for the reunion in a few weeks. In the meantime, I can reflect on the other cast members I was lucky to meet (although this was the first time it was one the four girls – hence my delight):

‘Facts of Life’ star: Clooney then was ‘kind of a kids’ drink’

It’s hard to imagine a time when smooching George Clooney could have constituted a forgettable experience.
But when he joined the sitcom “The Facts of Life” as an unknown 24-year-old, he was less a heartthrob to the mostly female cast than a big brother.
Clooney came to the show — available on the DVD set “The Facts of Life: The Complete Series” on Tuesday — in 1985 for a three-season stint as handyman George. During his tenure, the actor shared a kiss with Lisa Whelchel, who played Blair on the 1979-1988 show, but the actress was so unfazed by the moment that she forgot about it until she saw the scene on YouTube years later.
“I denied it,” says Whelchel, 51. “I don’t think that’s a commentary on him as a kisser, as much as a commentary on the fact that I’ve had three kids. They say the memory leaves with the placenta.”
Whelchel — who is two years Clooney’s junior — also says that the actor at 24 was very different from the playboy who emerged later.
“He wasn’t ‘George Clooney’ back then. He was [just] George,” she says. “He was grape juice — sweet, tasty, kind of a kids’ drink. There’s this incredible maturation that happened [later], both in his acting and his personal life.
“[Back then] it was, ‘I’m just a fun guy who likes to play basketball, and let’s hop in my Jeep and all go have lunch.’ ”
Whelchel says the cast never saw Clooney’s infamous jokester side — he’s admitted to pranks in the ’80s where he’d steal friends’ cameras and take a picture of his genitals with a pair of glasses on them — but his playfulness still got him in hot water back then.
“[He’d] get in trouble for not knowing when to settle down and do work,” she says. “It was a matter of, ‘OK George, it’s time to focus here.’ ”

George Clooney has a touching message for Charlotte Rae at ‘Facts of Life’ reunion
BY ANDREA REIHER AT 12:02 PM ON FEB 13, 2016

Hallmark Channel’s “Home & Family” is welcoming some special guests Monday (Feb. 15) when the “Facts of Life” cast reunites nearly 30 years after the sitcom went off the air. All the familiar faces are there — Charlotte Rae, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, Geri Jewell — but there are also a few surprise guests, including George Clooney.
Clooney appeared on “Facts of Life” from 1985 to 1987, his “first regular job on a television series.” In this sneak peek at his video message, Clooney has some kind words for Rae, a.k.a. Mrs. Garrett.
“Charlotte, well listen — I have to say, you were such an incredible force in the early part of my career. In mid-1985 I came on the show, it was my first regular job on a television series and you were funny and kind and you made a very young, not very skilled actor feel very much at home,” says Clooney, going on to tell a story about Rae wandering around the set holding a banana, which made the whole cast and crew crack up.
RELATED: Never forget George Clooney in ‘Return of the Killer Tomatoes’
“I couldn’t be happier for you, and I couldn’t be more thankful for all the kindness you showed a young, not very bright actor. Congratulations,” he concludes.
Also on the reunion are surprise visits from Todd Bridges, who appeared as his “Diff’rent Strokes” character Willis on “The Facts of Life.” He tells a crazy story about a time a crazy fan punched Fields in the eye because she thought Fields was stealing her “boyfriend,” a.k.a. Bridges. Fields also says that Mindy Cohn and Nancy McKeon will be making an appearance.
“Home & Family” airs weekdays at 10 a.m. ET/PT on Hallmark.

All the familiar faces are there — Charlotte Rae, Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, Geri Jewell — but there are also a few surprise guests, including George Clooney.

I think it's cool that he still participates in these things. I think a lot of other actors with his level of success would just say they were too busy or something.
