Hi Everyone
Im (and my state of Victoria) are  now into our 4th day of temperatures over 40 degrees (have been house bound with air con).  Yesterday there were 39 fires burning around Victoria (the state I live in).  The map shows the many big, small, controlled and out of control fires currently burning.  Several towns have been evacuated, one of them is the same place my brothers camp in every year, both are home safe now.  A cool change is coming so hopefully that will make the firefighters jobs a little easier, but have been told the wind changing direction could be an issue.  Our firefighters have done an amazing job in shocking conditions to control quite a few of them over the last 2 days. Got my fire plan ready just in case, which is basically grab our 3 children, mobile, purse, briefcase with all our documents in it then drive as far away as possible.

That's scary...please stay safe...glad you have a plan....

So far (touching wood) no fires near my town yet, hope it stays that way. The reality is that I can replace almost everything, have insurance and I would never stay to defend my property with 3 children who would be terrified.
I am a little worried, conditions are perfect for fires - so I check the Fire App from time to time - I get emails as well when any fires come within 20km of my house so as prepared as I can be.

Just had 4 alerts for bushfires (small) that started in my area - must have jinxed myself - one is 5 minute drive from my house but the helicopters and fireys are taking care of it -

We walked around the corner from our place to see how close it is, so going to put some things together (just in case). One theory is that an arsonist is driving down the freeway and throwing matches out the window, as the fire is travelling opposite to wind direction so looks as if the ones nearby me are deliberately lit. These morons should be locked up...

That's so wrong! You've got to wonder what makes people do this!

We had a young volunteer firefighter here who deliberately started a fire so that he could work on putting it out to impress his dad (who was a seasoned firefighter).  It got out of control and caused much damage.  He was arrested and is now in jail and ordered to pay restitution.  Asshole!!!!

Apparently the police are looking for a driver who was stopping and lighting fires according to a policeman I know. If true, then this person should be locked up.

The fire status at my place changed to Watch and Act so Im doing a lot of watching out my window. They have closed all major roads that border our suburb so if there is a evac that should prove interesting. Im just chilling at home with the air con on, if power gets cut then the kids and I are going to jump in our bathtub - 44 degrees is a bit much for me without air con.

Hubby is finishing early and on his way home cause he cant stand the idea of me evacuating with the kids without him - Ive told him to go to his Mums if he cant make it to our place with all the road closures and I will meet him there if I need to leave.

Kids are on their ipads as they have decided if we have to leave they want to save them (which is good as they cost me a fortune), my 4 year old has decided to save the first teddy bear I gave him, so adorable and cute. Im going to put on all my jewellery and save that along with the usb sticks in my purse which hold all the kids photos LOL.

Stay safe theminis!  We had a wicked fire here in LA today some homes were lost.  The three homeless guys who started a campfire during our high winds warnings let it get out of hand!  They were arrested today.

They've been fighting that fire all day.

I just don't understand people. We have been warned all week that this week will be Severe/Extreme Fire Risk - Total Fire Ban days etc yet there are still some idiots out there who do risky things such as lighting a campfire or open barbecue in their backyards. My neighbour next door just spent half an hour hosing down his roof, getting rid of leaves etc and I pointed out to him that in this heat of 44 degrees wont all your efforts just evaporate?? Anyhow he thinks anything will help with embers etc so he just watered my roof for me so I we shared a beer - damn it was nice and cold

Nothing like an ice cold beer on a hot summer day. Yum!

Isnt it the best and ultimate is when you add lemonade and make a shandy - god I want another one but will wait till later...

Just thought Id pop on and let you know that the fires near my house and threatening our town are now under control - cool change came and it went from almost 44 degrees to around 30 at the moment - woo hoo, even got the tiniest amount of rain. Our fireys did a brilliant job of getting the fire under control and yes as feared it was confirmed that out of the 60+ fires burning in our state at least 12 were deliberately lit including the 5 that threatened where I live - hope they catch the idiot(s) and lock him up for several years....

Going to bed now for hopefully a good nights sleep -

Great news the minis...still, I will cover you and your beautiful little family in prayer for safety and protection, throughout this dangerous weather condition. Praise the Lord for those brave men and women who do not consider their own safety but do everything in their power to serve and protect the public. I pray for their safety and protection here in LA as well as your country.

Thanks Lighter - our situation in our town was nowhere near as bad as what is happening in other parts of Victoria (The Grampians - Mountain Range), ours was a grassfire opposed to a bushfire, but with that said, watching the smoke out your back window and knowing we were only about 3 houseblocks and one road from it was a bit worrying. Full of admiration for our firefighters, considering the conditions they had to work in, they did a fabulous job containing it.

WWHS I didn't even bother to look at what to save to be honest, I guess I was just sitting here hoping that they would get it under control before the wind change and they did.

I was on holiday in a static caravan right next to the beach. During the night a major hoolie blew up and the van was rocking from side to side.
So at 3.30 am I'm lying in bed, planning what to grab if it went over.....my dog and my jewellery box.
I decided my husband could look after himself !

A good action plan!

well i was talking about marriage as Blunt is taking that step...brave man, congratulations!   

This year my new years goal was to start a karate course and I did. I had my first lesson today. Because they had not enough people for a beginner course I was in a course with people who had the green, brown and black belt. I must say I did pretty well for a beginner. But now I feel every little muscle. It was funny when they did the warm up everybody started with 50 sit ups. I did 6 LOL.

I'm afraid to wake up tomorrow. I will feel every bone for sure........

I can't wait for next Monday

I swear this was like my course today. Really no kidding. I just didn't look so good like these guys. At the beginning you hear them all say OZ meaning in karate "OK I understand" LOL Yes I learned something

Good on you Nicky, my 17 neice is a black belt with those extra things on it, degrees I think they are called, and she has 3 or is level 3 degree (sorry don't know enough about Karate), just that she is very very good. So all the best, hope you enjoy it...

Planning my Feb hols - I think it'll be Dubai again. I did want to go to Myanmar, but that just seems like way too much effort.
