@LornaDoone ~ I suppose the idea is to get people in the spirit of Xmas already to start planning & buying gifts. Most store decorations are up. Time to get prepared for festive season cheer.   It does feel rather premature to me too. I'm not in that mood until December usually.

Well I have started something already. Right after halloween. Some dim xmas lights here and there, candles...(not outside yet). I hate the stress of buying gifts, remembering who to send cards and flowers...

I had to post this as I see these spiders all the time, very very common in my land and sadly my house. I know we shouldn't kill nature as my kids always tell me but I have no mercy for these particular spiders. Had one crawling around in my hair one night I practically peed myself with fright. The man of the house (thought he wont admit it) is frightened to go near these particular spiders, its hilarious watching him trying to man up whilst me and our 3 kids are screaming at him.....What works best if any more stow away and end up in your country is to spray them with hair spray, they just fall off the wall - easy peasy.

Outside my front door on the sign that tells salespeople not to knock, yep school cancelled staying home, it's raining and car window open don't care, staying inside.

My 4 year old son is not scared of any insects and he's too curious for my liking - how weird is that to read an article then to go the front door and see the exact same thing.....yucky off to get my hair spray, not taking the chance that it will try and sneak in!! Sorry nature.

OMG   I'm discusted. I don't care about family or property I would move countries no matter what.
Now i understand that thing with the hairspray you can't really kill them with a fly flap there are so big.

You can always wipe the architrave of each door & window with eucalyptus oil, theminis. That deters them as they hate it.  
I poured half a bottle of rubbing alcohol on one massive brown one that stowed away in my luggage from Seoul earlier this year. Turps will do the trick too. The one in your pic looks like a funnel web or a tarantula.   

With the humidity in Sydney every spring, you get plagues of swarms of moths, massive cockroaches...and 6ft white sharks too. Florida is like that too.

Haha, I had a mouse in my case from New York..... Jumped out the moment I opened the case...had to throw everything out......

On another subject, I was at the cinema Tuesday evening, I saw Philomena and loved it ...

I asked which theatre, they have about 12 rooms, is the best to see Gravity ... The guy was charming and said don't at this theatre, the projectionist in town will really work on getting (I think he said) frequency just right and that can make a huge difference.. is that true does anyone know ... Probably haul my A** into town anyway...  


I'm looking forward to it ... but eating ginger biscuits already.....

@ wwhs ~ definitely 3D. Try a surround sound, state of the art theater, with digital cinema projection.  
Projectionists will be obsolete in future, apparently. However, I think what you were told might have to do with frequency of projection for flicker fusion rate, ie, relating to visual effect.

thanks for tip of eucalyptus oil, have tons of thatand tea tree oil as I wash my sons stuff in it to kill of dust mites etc for his asthma - will now douse my entire house in eucalyptus, then for a long long walk.

At school today someone told me to place coal outside all my doors and windows, spiders hate coal but where the heck do I find coal in Australia other than a coal mine (seriously some people)

Its a variation of a huntsman, to my knowledge no tarantulas or funnel webs in my state (thank goodness)

When I read this it reminded me of that show called "Extreme Makeover"
where people who didn't look too pretty had their appearance significantly  altered. I used to say "what if they get married, have children and the kids come out looking like they did before the surgeries the other partner is going think that, that child is not theirs", crazy and funny!

I saw that story about the man who sued his wife.  

Imagine then what must go on in Hollywood, where so many people have had plastic surgery early in their careers and then later have kids.

I'm sure there are some surprises there too.

Perhaps if the woman had been honest with her husband prior to marriage, this might not have been such and issue.

But then on the other hand, perhaps had the husband not been so caught up on looks, instead of who the person was in the inside, he might not have been so disappointed.

In some respects you have to feel sorry for the woman.  She probably had such low self esteem that she felt she had to do this.   But she also should have had more integrity.  Was she really expecting her children to come out looking beautiful?  Or did she really not understand that.

Society probably played into this - perhaps this world wide impression of what a woman should look like, perpetuated by magazines, movies, etc. might have had something to do with her lack of self esteem.

Well lots of excitement if that's the word at my place last night - had the paramedics checking out my daughter at 1.00am, her older brother was so worried about her that he started an asthma attack (emotionally induced) while they were examining her, so nearly had 2 kids in hospital. But as it turns out she wasn't coping with her high fever so once the 2nd dose of Panadol at 4.00am kicked in she finally started breathing a little easier. Kids they age you in a matter of seconds. Off to the Drs today to get much needed antibiotics and hopefully its not the flu.. I had about 3 hours sleep so if I make less sense than usual, that's why.

No, Themi, you sound just fine. And we all know how overrated sleep is!!

Hope you're all fine soon. Know it doesn't feel like it now, but it's amazing what a difference twenty four hours will make....

Oh no poor you. I hope you and your kids will feel better soon.
