George Clooney on 'Gravity' director Alfonso Cuarón: 'He's unique'
Not sure if this is new. The artical came out today but the interview doesn't sound so new. Maybe I heard too many about Gravity LOL. Sorry if this was postet already. I had a look but didn't find this interview.
George Clooney on 'Gravity' director Alfonso Cuarón: 'He's unique'
Clooney stars in the science fiction movie as a veteran astronaut who is stranded in space when his shuttle is destroyed.
Discussing Gravity with Flicks and Bits, Clooney opened up about working with Mexican filmmaker Cuarón.
"Alfonso is one of the most interesting and talented directors in the game," he said. "If you understand filmmaking and if you understand his ideas and the kind of lensing he uses - these big, wide angle lenses, where everything's in focus... then he's famous for these long takes, which he did and were incredible to shoot and see how he plans them.
"I walked into this in anticipation of it being like that and it was incredible to watch."
Clooney also discussed the challenges of shooting the movie.
"Gravity did require a certain kind of discipline because you've had to pre-set these shots, not just because of the 3D, but because of all of the elements that took place," he commented.
The actor went on to say: "So everything on this film was pre-set so far in advance that you can't really change anything, so you have to make it look very natural even though it was something that was planned six or so months earlier.
"It was a very different discipline and it was fun working with that. And I really believe the cinematography in this and technology in this will change the game forever, it's that good. He's amazing."
Gravity will be released on October 4 in the US, and November 8 in the UK.

I saw Alfonso Cuaron last night and he explained lengthy what it is like to make movies and especially Gravity...
I really do question this "unique" thing totally.

Really? Well, as a techinoclue, I would have absolutely no idea where to begin on this sort of thing, and just the cost of the smallest piece of all this extraordinary equipment leaves me in awe. Never mind creating bold new ideas and stunning results with great actors (who are prepared for whatever is flung at them!) and devoting four years of your life to such an intense and groundbreaking project.
But that's just me
