The stars are there: For the shooting of the film strip, "The Monument Men" run in Merseburg, preparations are in full swing. George Clooney and his crew passed the site and gave instructions for the first rotation.

There's George Clooney! "This outcry on Tuesday brought movement into the crowd in front of the cathedral in Merseburg, which apparently had secretly hoped to take a look at the superstar. And actually - the smart actor and director had come close enough to touch them. With part of his crew relaxed he walked out of the cathedral and was immediately surrounded by a crowd of people. Gently he signed autographs, posed for photos, even if this or that Bodyguard probably not like saw.

After visiting the cathedral, the convoy moved on into the moat, where Clooney was first instructions. However, the attention of onlookers focused on another actor of the film "The Monuments Men": Friendly smiling, John Goodman had mixed among the people. To Friday or Saturday some scenes for the film to be shot in Merseyside. It's about a special unit from the ranks of the Allies - Art protector that came to Europe and especially to Germany, to protect significant heritage from destruction and track down stolen-lost art.

At least one scene of the film is shot in Merseburg Cathedral. There, the choir and the altar area of the image that were already prepared on Tuesday afternoon. Six men laid wooden boards on which they laid the tracks for the major film cameras and fortified. On Tuesday evening, then closed the doors of the Merseburg Cathedral for the next three days - at least for visitors. What happens behind the thick walls, but you can imagine. Beside the altar stood a dozen huge golden candlestick, next to a more than a meter high golden chalice. The scene is mystical with a lot of candles.

Before Cathedral and Castle, meanwhile, sees many things from no longer business as usual. At the Willi Sitte Gallery labeling was unscrewed. Two men missed a power distribution box in the cathedral square, a war contemporary wood paneling. In the castle courtyard park about 20 trucks "keep clear exit" does not apply to courtyard doors several times for several days. But that was the message of the day: How the MZ found out was George Clooney at Wednesday all love set visit in Merseburg Cathedral. Well shielded from prying eyes rose in the afternoon his mother Nina (73) and his father Nick (79, journalist and former TV presenter) in the Cathedral Square in a black BMW. Employees of the film teams welcomed both extremely courteous and with a handshake, took their coat and bag. After a minute the two had disappeared already in the cathedral, where they welcomed their son.

Clooney plays dad or even yourself with at "The Monuments Men"? The unfashionable gray suit with flared trousers and the old-fashioned brown shoes he was wearing, could suggest such a thing. Maybe Nick Clooney yes actually a small supporting role in the film to get his son. Mama Nina does not seem to play along. She came in a chic pink blouse, put a sweater around her shoulders.

George Clooney himself came unnoticed by most of the cathedral. To 13.56 clock turned his black BMW in the street in front of the castle, a - a bodyguard in the passenger seat and the 51-year-old Oscar winner in the darkened rear of the car. Only in the castle courtyard of the Star got out. Outside the big gate was quickly closed and secured with its red and white barricades. Cathedral and Castle were a fortress.

Doch das war die Nachricht des Tages: Wie die MZ herausfand, bekam George Clooney am Mittwoch ganz lieben Besuch am Set im Merseburger Dom. Gut abgeschirmt vor neugierigen Blicken stiegen am Nachmittag seine Mutter Nina (73) und sein Vater Nick (79, Journalist und ehemaliger TV-Moderator) auf dem Domplatz aus einem schwarzen BMW. Mitarbeiter des Film-Teams begrüßten beide überaus zuvorkommend und mit Handschlag, nahmen ihnen Mantel und Tasche ab. Nach einer Minuten waren die beiden dann auch schon im Dom verschwunden, wo sie ihren Sohn begrüßten.

Oder spielt Vater Clooney sogar selbst mit bei „The Monuments Men“? Der unmoderne graue Anzug mit Schlaghose und die altmodischen braunen Schuhe, die er trug, könnten auf so etwas schließen lassen. Vielleicht hat Nick Clooney ja tatsächlich eine kleine Nebenrolle im Film seines Sohnes bekommen. Mama Nina scheint nicht mitzuspielen. Sie kam in schicker rosa Hemdbluse, einen Pullover um die Schultern gelegt.

George Clooney selbst kam von den meisten unbemerkt am Dom an. Um 13.56 Uhr bog sein schwarzer BMW in die Straße vor dem Schloss ein - ein Bodyguard auf dem Beifahrersitz und der 51-jährige Oscar-Preisträger im abgedunkelten Fond des Wagens. Erst im Schlossinnenhof stieg der Star aus. Draußen wurde unterdessen schnell das große Tor geschlossen und zusätzlich mit rot-weißen Absperrgittern gesichert. Dom und Schloss wurden zur Festung.

In Merseburg, since yesterday anyway, it's less about the shooting of the Hollywood movie "The Monuments Men" and more about its director and star. The cathedral city watches George Clooney (51) !

Each and everyone decides to move to the location of the historic castle ensemble, wanting only one thing: a photo with the actor. Or at least one of it. Or an autograph.

Great cinema, or even just because Clooney is a man of the people. His audience is the amino holy, he endures even the most intrusive attention with friendly serenity. "Even nicer than we had hoped," says a lady in her mid-thirties about the Hollywood star. Her boyfriend stays faithful despite the enthusiasm for "supercool".

Merseburg – Die schönsten Geschichten schreibt das Leben! Und wenn der schönste Mann der Welt darin mitspielt, kann man glatt jeden Spielfilm vergessen.
In Merseburg geht es seit gestern jedenfalls weniger um die Dreharbeiten zum Hollywood-Streifen „The Monuments Men“ als um dessen Regisseur und Hauptdarsteller. Die Domstadt guckt George Clooney (51)!
Jede und jeder, den es zum Drehort um das historische Schlossensemble verschlägt, will nur eines: ein Foto mit dem Schauspieler. Oder wenigstens eins von ihm. Oder ein Autogramm.
Großes Kino, auch oder gerade weil Clooney ein Mann des Volkes ist. Sein Publikum ist dem Ami heilig, jede noch so aufdringliche Aufmerksamkeit erträgt er mit freundlicher Gelassenheit. „Noch netter als erhofft“, findet eine Mittdreißigerin den Hollywood-Star. Ihr Freund hält ihn trotz der Schwärmerei für „obercool“.

13 Uhr begannen am Mittwoch die Dreharbeiten in Merseburg. Als erstes wurden Aufnahmen im Inneren des Doms gemacht, der dafür extra auf alt getrimmt wurde. In einer Drehpause am frühen Abend ging Clooney zu den wartenden Fans und schrieb fleißig Autogramme.
Noch bis Samstag sollen in Merseburg Szenen – vornehmlich im Schlossgraben – für den Kriegsfilm über amerikanische Kunst-Retter in Uniform gedreht werden.

melbert I agree, the first thing that I Love is George's eyes the next is his hair when it's not too short. When he did the "Descendants" now that was hair to run you fingers through, just wonderful. Having said that, I really Love him no matter how he looks, his captivating charisma comes from the inside. I don't think it will ever escape him.

Oscar winner attract attention

The two Oscar winners George Clooney and Grant Heslov linger currently filming their next joint film project "The Monuments Men" in Merseburg. Numerous fans try to catch eyes on the stars.

Such a thing has never experienced Merseburg. Two Oscar-winning work in the cathedral city on a new movie and probably on new Oscars: U.S. actor, director and producer George Clooney (51) and Grant Heslov (49), also an actor, director, producer and screenwriter. Only in February they won the Oscar in Los Angeles for "Argo" in the category Best Film - along with her co-producers Ben Affleck, who also directed.

Clooney and Heslov have for years been a team that already produced "The Ides of March" (2011), "The American" (2010) and "Men Who Stare at Goats" (2009) together (always played by Clooney). Heslov and it was he who made the right from Clooney Nespresso man. It stated as a director in the commercial with Clooney and John Malkovich.

Also on the movie "The Monuments Men" the two work together, have all been more than two years to the author of the book, Robert Edsel, prepared. Clooney leads not only directed but also wrote the screenplay with Heslov.

"We just asked if George Clooney would be kind enough to sign our Guestbook," said Kerstin Küppersbusch, the spokeswoman for the district administration of the MDGs. "We would then abandon the book and get it back sometime." The city Merseburg apparently similar before.

Can't wait for this movie! Have to admit, I used to watch WWII movies with my Mom and so I sort of have a soft spot for them. Wish it was coming out sooner.

"Go, George, go", shouted to the onlookers on Friday at Clooney as the leading man and director of the film "The Monuments Men" took a break from riding an old fashioned bicycle. While pedaling the bike across across the Neumarkt bridge the star made just as good figure as when doing the autograph-signing marathon on the set-barrier.

And this was despite the fact Clooney and his crew had worked hard on Thursday, working until the early morning on Friday filming in the cathedral.

The yard was lit up with huge lighting systems, several scenes of the film were played war - in the cast was British actor Hugh Bonneville (49, "Notting Hill," "Downton Abbey").

After only a few hours of sleep on Friday morning, Clooney was back in Merseburg. Wehrmacht vehicles travelling along the castle, soldiers marching in the courtyard of the cathedral - were filmed inside and outside of the provost until the wee hours of the morning.

And then Hollywood is gone, moving on to the Harz region.

Saturday morning George Clooney checked out of the "Climbing Mountain Grand Hotel" in Leipzig, at noon to move to the „Zu den roten Forellen“ hotel in Ilsenburg.

Again, there's no break; he continue to film in the Harz. In Ilsenburg roads were already blocked off for filming.

There will still be some filming in Goslar: on Monday a one-kilometer one-way street in the city will be completely blocked.

Samstagmorgen checkt George Clooney aus dem „Steigenberg Grand Hotel“ in Leipzig aus, um mittags das Landhaus „Zu den roten Forellen“ in Ilsenburg zu beziehen.
Auch hier gibt's keine Pause, es wird im Harz gleich weiter gedreht. In in Ilsenburg wurden schon Straßen für die Filmaufnahmen abgesperrt.
Ab Montag soll es in Goslar weitergehen, dafür wird eine ein Kilometer lange Einbahnstraße in der City komplett gesperrt.
