George Clooney to be Dancing with the Stars?

George was just kidding, right? When he was talking to Lara Spencer on the red carpet last night before the Academy Awards about doing ABC’s ”Dancing with the Stars?”

Before winning his second Oscar — for motion picture of the year as an ”Argo” producer — Spencer told Clooney that he had tied Walt Disney for being nominated in six different Oscar categories. He then joked about trying for a nomination in a seventh category, perhaps best choreographer. Here’s the exchange:

Clooney: “I’m a trivia question now…. I’ve been thinking about choreography now. Is there a category?

Spencer: ”You ought to do ‘Dancing with the Stars!’ “

Clooney: “I’ve been thinking about that!”

One thing I’m sure about: Clooney won’t be in the “Dancing with the Stars” cast to be announced tomorrow on “Good Morning America.” He’s been busy directing ”The Monuments Men” in Berlin, the feature film about art historians and curators racing to rescue art treasures from the Nazis during World War II. He’ll also star in the film with fellow Oscar winners Jean Dujardi and Cate Blanchett, plus Daniel Craig, Bill Murray, John Goodman and Bob Balaban. It’s due in theaters in December.

Clooney, in addition to the motion picture of the year nomination, has been nominated in categories for actor, supporting actor, director, original screenplay and adapted screenplay. He won best supporting actor for “Syriana” in 2006.
