Oscar-Preisträger George Clooney war am Donnerstag mit einem achtköpfigen Team heimlich, still und leise nach Merseburg gereist, um für seinen Film "The Monuments Men" auf Motivsuche zu gehen. Der Domplatz, der Dom und der Schlossinnenhof wurden aus allen möglichen Perspektiven mit kleinen Digitalkameras fotografiert. Im Schlossinnenhof erklärte Clooney mit sehr sonorer, tiefer Stimme, wie er sich vorstellt, dass jemand aus dem Dom in den Hof tritt, und wenig später stand er schon auf der Treppe vor dem Altar im Dom, vor ihm seine "Jünger" und durch die Kirchenfenster fiel ein dicker Lichtstrahl direkt auf den US-Star. Möglicherweise wird man den Frauenschwarm ja bald häufiger in der Domstadt sehen - falls sein Film, bei dem er Regie führt und die Hauptrolle spielt, tatsächlich in Merseburg gedreht wird. "Was wir aber immer noch nicht bestätigen können", sagte Eike Wolf, Sprecher des Filmstudios Babelsberg, wo Clooney seit einigen Wochen sogar ein eigenes Büro hat, von dem aus er in Ostdeutschland agiert. Angeblich sei Clooney mit seinem Team noch immer auf der Suche nach den passenden Drehorten.

Die Roman-Verfilmung "The Monuments Men" handelt übrigens von einer Gruppe US-amerikanischer Kunstexperten, die beauftragt werden, von Nazis während des Kriegs gestohlene Kunstwerke wiederzubeschaffen. Clooney, der auch der Produzent des Films ist, hat noch einige hochkarätige Schauspieler ins Boot geholt: Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, Matt Damon und Daniel Craig zum Beispiel. James Bond in Merseburg? Auch keine schlechte Vorstellung, aber soweit ist es noch nicht, obwohl die Dreharbeiten ja schon Anfang März starten sollen. Und welche Städte tatsächlich im Rennen sind, darum machen Clooney und Co. ein großes Geheimnis.

Aber wenn es Merseburg werden würde? "Das wäre toll", schwärmte Domführerin Beate Tippelt. "Toll für unseren Dom, der noch nie in einem Spielfilm zu sehen war und natürlich für die Region."

Nur für einen kurzen Stopp im Café ben zi bena war neben der Motivsuche in Merseburg noch Zeit. Carola Jülich und Diana Oberbacher brachten dem Film-Team Kaffee und Espresso. George nahm übrigens einen Cappuccino. "Die Anwesenheit von Herrn Clooney scheint dabei regelrecht eine heilende Wirkung auf meine Frau gehabt zu haben", erzählte Klaus Oberbacher, Chef der Kunststiftung ben zi bena, lächelnd der MZ. "Am Morgen war meine Frau noch stark erkältet, aber seit Herr Clooney da war, strahlt sie nur noch."
