Ah, if it makes you feel any better I'm plagued by the local wildlife so it's not all glamour. My desk is crawling with ants - we realised way too late in the game that they're getting a real sugar high from my cough syrup that I've been using since I came back to work on Monday. On the plus side, none of them appear to be coughing.
I can't use the loo in my bathroom because a gecko has taken up residence there and my dinner at home was ruined by an inquisitive cockroach that wanted to get really up close and personal with my plate. Oh, and I have mosquitoes everywhere.

Do you know the weirdest thing I noticed when I was back home? The fashion for men to wax/pluck their eyebrows into shape. I saw a number of men with perfectly groomed eyebrows and it looked so weird to me.

Oh lordy, don't say that too loudly, the guys on this side of the pound might decide to take it up! Wierd!!
And as to your various "creatures" I think I'm glad I live in Los Angeles. The racoons and possums only come out at night and I haven't had an ant issue in years. Also, it's not humid enough in my area for mosquites and if a fly should happen to wander into my place during the summer, it skedaddles quickly as soon as I open the door to the outside!

First time, I give a pass and "inquire" if they got it.
Second time is the last time. If they can't say "Thank You" I'll save it for a more deserving fm.
I 've had it happen a couple of times - and no good reason. Live away from me, but don't call either unless want something. It's amazing.

Re: January Chit Chat
They say the truth will set you free but sometimes it doesn't pay to tell the truth. Example:
Tax time is just around the corner!
Last year, I sent my return in on time, I told the truth, and the IRS sent it back as 'incorrect'!.
My tax return?
When I received my tax return for 2011 back from the IRS, it puzzled me!!!
They questioned how many dependents I claimed. I guess it was because of my response to the question: "List all dependents"
I replied: 12 million illegal immigrants; 3 million crack heads; 42 million unemployed people on food stamps, 2 million people in over 243 prisons; half of Mexico; and 535 persons in the U.S. House and Senate."
Evidently, this was NOT an acceptable answer.
I KEEP ASKING MYSELF, WHO THE HELL DID I MISS?

Katie--Just read your description of the bugs you keep company with! You made me feel much better about my humble abode!!! Although your place sounds much more adventurous.
Hope your cold has abated and that you're feeling better. That flu is going around here in the US. I got it but lucked out--it was a lighter version. Took copious amounts of vitamin C and echinasea which I swear takes the edge off of my colds. All my friends laugh at me, but they're still sick!

Re: January Chit Chat
NEWTOWN -- The gift of song can help to heal hearts, and 20 Newtown children hope their recording of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" will bring a measure of peace.
The children, including a few Sandy Hook students and survivors of the Dec. 14 mass shooting, performed the song live Tuesday morning during the closing minutes of "Good Morning America" on ABC. They recorded the song Jan. 9 in Fairfield, at the home recording studio of Talking Heads' and Tom Tom Club's Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz.
Singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson accompanied the children on ukulele at both performances. The song is available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon, and all proceeds from the project will go to the nonprofit Newtown Youth Academy and the United Way of Western Connecticut.
The project, called A Song From Sandy Hook, was produced by Tim Hayes, co-owner of the former music mecca CBGB's, along with Newtown-based music teacher Sabrina Post.
"We came here for the purpose to give our talent as a gift to so many of the people who live around us, to help them move forward and to keep memories alive," Post told the children at a rehearsal for the recording. A video of the recording was posted to YouTube on Monday.
It shows 16 girls with green ribbons in their hair and the four boys with green patterned dress shirts. During the video, some of the children can be seen making snowballs on the lawn in front of Weymouth's and Frantz's barn.
"Like a lot of people, we moved from New York City," Frantz said. "The idea was that we'd be providing a more wholesome environment for our children to grow up in, with fresh air, green grass and good schools. You think you're in paradise, but maybe it's not really that way."
Frantz said Tuesday about 60 people were in his home for the recording session, including parents and technical staff. "It was a festive, almost joyous atmosphere; it wasn't somber at all," he said. "There were some moments when parents got choked up. It's an emotional song to begin with."
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow," by Y.A. Harburg and Harold Arlen, was first sung by Judy Garland in the classic 1939 film "The Wizard of Oz." The song includes the lyrics "Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue; And the dreams that you dare to dream, Really do come true."
The song, "Sandy Hook: Over the Rainbow," featuring Ingrid Michaelson and the children of Newtown, is available for digital download from iTunes and Amazon for $1.29.

Re: January Chit Chat
This isn't a joke but certainly words to live by:
SIMPLE TRUTH
Lovers help each other undress before sex. However after sex, they always dress on their own.
Moral of the story: In life, no one helps you once you're screwed.
When a lady is pregnant, All her friends touch the stomach and say, "Congrats". But, none of them touch the man's penis and say, "Good job".
Moral of the story: Hard work is never appreciated.
FIVE RULES TO REMEMBER IN LIFE
1. Money cannot buy happiness, But it's more comfortable to cry in a Corvette than on a bicycle.
2. Forgive your enemy, But remember the asshole's name.
3. If you help someone when they're in trouble, they will remember you when they're in trouble again.
4. Many people are alive only because it's illegal to shoot them.
5. Alcohol does not solve any problems, but then neither does milk.
Bonus:
Condoms don't guarantee safe sex. A friend of mine was wearing one, when he was shot by the woman's husband.

Re: January Chit Chat
Just want to say Hi to everyone! I am ktsue2002, and I have to give a shout out to Katiedot, since she is also a Katie and a clooney fan to boot. That is just awesome. I have seen some of you on other Clooney fansites, and I love getting the scoop about our favorite May 6 baby. I too am a May 6 baby, gotta root for the birthday twin. I have met GC, and he is as wonderful and better looking in person. I am one of those fans who is more than ok to love him from afar. I know he won't show up and sweep me away, but I can fantasize. I will not comment on his private life. That is his business. Out of respect, I wouldn't want someone to analyze my own relationships closely. However, I do love his movies. He and Grant have a magical touch. He has had some bombs, like The Good German, woof!, but most times he hits it out of the park for me. I am also a kidney disease survivor. I spent a year and five months on dialysis, then my good friend got tested and gave me a kidney. That was three months ago, and I am looking to the future. I am planning on going to graduate school to become a dialysis social worker. I feel strongly that I should help my fellow kidney survivors. I look forward to talking about my favorite birthday twin with all of you.

Hello ktsue2002 and welcome.
Great to hear about your transplant success and your desire to help others! I've had that issue in my family and I certainly can understand what you've gone through!
Wishing you continued recovery and health.
Oof Oof - hope your sister will be okay. Will keep both of you in my prayers.
