SINGAPORE - New York-based photographer Jennifer Graylock isn't content with capturing the miens of the pop culture icons like George Clooney, Madonna and United States President Barack Obama - she's immortalised them further by turning her images into pieces of furniture. Specifically, a series of chairs she's cheekily titled Sit On My Face.

The concept came as she was curating her works for a gallery and thinking about showcasing her celebrity photos in a kitschy way.

"The idea of the chairs began with the question of celebrity fascination," she told TODAY. "The creative process took me on a ride to examine the essence of celebrity fascination, all the pomp and circumstance … Then it hit me to use chairs as a frame for my celebrity images. Now I can say Angelina and Clooney are in my living room and I just sat on their faces. There is something a bit naughty about saying 'Sit on my face' which I find hilarious."

It's not only the humour that Graylock was attracted to. There's also a furniture aficionado inside her, a love affair which first started as a kid, helping her grandfather restore and craft furniture.

Describing her interior aesthetics as "modern, eclectic with a touch of Victorian", she chose the mid-century Thonet-inspired chairs for its simple, elegant style as she felt they made the perfect modern picture frame to display the photos.

There's a story behind each photo, too.

"It's not just their sex appeal, it was a combination of what I lived, felt, saw, heard and created while photographing them on the red carpet, fashion shows, private events and my personal stories behind each of the images selected. The Angelina Jolie photo was taken at the Oscar's when she bared her infamous leg, George Clooney was shot right after learning he was nominated for an Oscar and the Brad Pitt photo was taken when he was honored for Money Ball."

She's put these three chairs up for an online auction on Etsy last month, and is currently busy adding more to the collection, which will be for sale on Fab.com on Sept 15. While she played coy about who else might appear in the series, she did hint that there might be a president or two. In fact, she envisions a whole line of different furniture pieces for the series including pillows, sofas, love seats and foot stools. "The combinations are endless. Just think about having a dinner party surrounded by your friends fighting over who gets to sit on Angie, Brad and George!"
