Re: JULY CHIT CHAT
Hi Everyone
My little girl came through her tonsillectomy reasonably well. She had a bit of a reaction to the anesthetic or swallowed too much blood as the poor thing threw up all day Monday after her op, ended up on a drip till Tuesday morning when after drinking 1 glass of milk Dr's declared her fit for discharge!!! I know we have a big problem with lack of beds but 1 night in hospital stunned me. She's doing ok, on lots of codeine and just trying to keep her fluids up. She's a funny little thing, gets offered all the ice-cream she can eat is and is not interested!! She loved her new dancing teddy bear and Lalaloopsy pyjamas I bought her, it was a nice surprise when she woke up. She was very scared just prior to getting her laughing gas and was crying and hugging me and asking me to take her home, broke my heart. I went into theatre with her and stayed while she inhaled the gas and relaxed, kissing her and leaving her there was harder than I thought, so had a good cry and the nearly chewed off one of my false nails waiting to see how she went. So proud of her though, she was really brave. Thanks for your good wishes. x

Re: JULY CHIT CHAT
I can so relate to your story, theminis! When my son was only 2, he had surgery to drain the fluid that had gathered behind his eardrum. It was a fairly routine procedure, like a tonsilectomy, but he was so scared and it tore my heart out to watch them wheel him away on the gurney into the operating room with him crying for me. Argh! It still bothers me to recall it. But like your daughter, he came through fine.
Glad to hear your little sweetie is doing well! A speedy recovery to you both!

Re: JULY CHIT CHAT
Thanks everyone for the well wishes - the joys of parenthood - this is just one of the bumps you go through, you hurt when they hurt and I knew that I would have changed places with her in a second if that would have helped her. The anesthetist asked me before I left the theatre with tears running down my face if I would like to share her laughing gas - !! The surgeon operating on her and the recovery team were just brilliant, did everything possible to make her smile and that helped me feel better about the whole process.

p.s. Lakin I can understand how it still bothers you to recall. I'll have the image of her little scared face in my brain for awhile I'm sure -

So glad all is well. No one said being a parent was going to be easy. Mine are grown and I still get those jitters.

Re: JULY CHIT CHAT
I know - no-one can really explain how you will feel about parenthood, then you bring this beautiful little bundle of pink/blue home and they just so easily get right inside your heart in a way you never imagined. - I've had one child suffer an extremely serious asthma attack, another went into respiratory distress and had to be saved literally right in front of me, another one had whooping cough at 2 weeks of age and he was touch/go for 2 weeks - scary as hell I gotta admit - however it just affirms how much you love them all the more and thats always a good thing -
I really appreciate everyones kind words - I dont even know any of you personally, yet your thoughts have touched me and I dont take that for granted -

Hi It's Me - yes, my 3 beautiful little ones have scared me at times for sure and they are all still under 6 years of age!! They have also given me some of the best laughs I've had in my life, so it all balances out. Ciao
