George Clooney's www skills
Truly a blonde day for you! I'd say he's been online for the best part of a decade. He has a computer in his home office for at least 5 years, uses email for at least the past 7 years and has been pictured with a blackberry for at least the past 3 years. I think it's pretty clear he knows and uses the internet.Dexterdidit wrote:Whats the add for? What is fastweb? Cause doesn't even use the internet so it is funny he is spruiking for it.
The quotes that he uses a typewriter and not email are from at least a decade ago.

@Katiedot,
I think George still liked to give the public the impression he was computer illiterate intil the last year or two, heaven knows why, someone probably pointed out that it made him seem a bit Victorian.

Re: George Clooney's www skills
I can’t believe anyone still seriously thinks that Clooney is a novice when it comes to technology. When I hear a celeb saying oh I don’t use the internet or email or any of that stuff, I immediately think, why? Are you really stupid or something? It’s not a badge of honour and I guess George realised at some point that pleading ignorance of the www was not a good look.
Re the ads, maybe if he does more of these, it might earn him enough to kick the Nespresso habit. This Fastweb one is a bit on the lame side but rather this than ongoing endorsememt of a crap product for a corrupt multinational. I'd rather see him do an endless stream of adverts for socks, umbrellas, catfood, insurance, millionaire dating sites, pistol pouches etc than another nespresso ad.
I know, I know, he's just earning a living... And before anyone dives in to tell me to give him a break, yes, it's hard to criticise him when he's doing so much that's so positive elsewhere, but his Nespresso shilling is his one major black spot for me; it's always there in the background and is not negated by anything else he does.

Deniability...this way he can always claim to NOT know what's going on because he's not computer literate. I agree that after a while it became ridiculous to continue to assert that he's the ONLY one on the planet left under the age of 80 who doesn't have at least a cursory knowledge and understanding of the internet.
ITA that this would be great if he's moving away from Nespresso...for ANYTHING else! I really wasn't that well versed in the baby milk scandal as some posters but the little I do know would be enough for me to stear him away from shucking that product for any reason.

You know, I never thought of that. That way he can avoid all the online crazies who think he's reading every word they write, right?Lighterside wrote:Deniability...this way he can always claim to NOT know what's going on because he's not computer literate.

There are certainly some online crazies, all right! I never read comments on gossip sites until lately. What I've read makes me worry about GTC's safety.

Yes, same here. I suspect he's beefed up his security a lot over the past few years.PigLove wrote:There are certainly some online crazies, all right! I never read comments on gossip sites until lately. What I've read makes me worry about GTC's safety.

Does this mean we get to see more of Gio??? That would be a GOOD thing. But, I agree, there are some really crazy people out there *looks around cautiously* and I'm sure he has great security.

This was taken from an interview published in 2000:
Lisa met George, 39, on the set of a Martini commercial in Spain in November.
After flying back to Los Angeles, the "Most Eligible Bachelor In America" spent hours logging on to Lisa's Internet website.

Re: George Clooney's www skills
I think he knows everything that is written about him and is well versed in what is happening in the industry via the internet. When he did that interview a few years back where he mocked Rupert Everett (who said something to the effect that George could be President if he is straight and a couple of other bitchy things about his policy of one film for the studio that makes money then he makes one for himself that he is proud of), George was able to quote the name of some crappy film that Everett had been in on the spot. The one with the monkey. Now I can't believe that George just knew that off the top of his head. I would bet that he had visited something like IMDB and reviewed this guy's CV so he could accurately mock him when he knew that it may come up in an interview.

Re: George Clooney's www skills
Just for reference to my above post because it bugged me not being able to remember the name of the film.
Movie - Dunston Checks In (1996).
Everett :
"[George] Clooney thinks that, provided he does films which are politically committed, he's allowed to do Ocean's 11, 12, and 13", he says. "But the Ocean's movies are a cancer to world culture. They're destroying us." And Clooney the man? "He's not the brightest spark on the boulevard. He'll be president one day. Mark my words, if he's straight, he'll be president." Comment made in 2007.
Clooney response:
“Where did that come from? You kind of go, ‘Dude, weren’t you in Dunston Checks In’?” Comment made in 2008.

Re: George Clooney's www skills
I agree about him checking on the internet for stuff and I do believe that he's quite adept at the internet, blackberry, iWhatever, etc. But, he has some mad skills when it comes to movies. I saw an interview once, can't remember with who, where he was rattling off directors, movie scenes, actors, etc. I was totally amazed. And he compiled that list of the "best films" from the 60s and 70s (maybe 80s too). I'm sure he knows the good and the bad, in his opinion anyway.

Re: George Clooney's www skills
I'd guess that is knowledge of films is pretty much encyclopedic. I don't think he has to imdb anything other than for obscure films and/or obscure roles or facts from films.

For PigLove. The storyline on IMDB:
Robert's a beleaguered concierge of the luxury hotel owned by Mrs. Dubrow. She tells Robert an undercover reviewer is coming and to look sharp. If he does well he might get a promotion and some time off to take his sons, Brian and Kyle, on vacation. But then the villainous jewel-thief Rutledge checks in with his specially trained orangutan, Dunston. And when Dunston gets loose and tries to escape a life of crime with the help of Brian and Kyle, things go just a little lunatic.
