HOW TO . . . deal with trolls

What is a troll?Trolls (when they're hanging out on the internet and not underneath bridges) are sad individuals who get a kick out of the attention they get online. They don't particularly care what kind of attention they get, be it positive or negative, just as long as they get attention.

They're not open to reason, logic or discussion. All they want is a response to their posts and will post the most ludicrous or offensive things in order to get that reaction.

How to handle a troll:They take themselves very seriously and don't like humour so you can laugh at them.

But the thing they hate most of all is not getting a response. So when you see a post by a troll, just fight the urge to reply to their idiot rant and move on. Put them on ignore if you need to. That silence will stop a troll more effectively than anything else.

To ignore another poster on this site:
I don't really encourage this as this should be the kind of forum where we're mature enough to deal with other people even when we don't like them or agree with what they're posting, but if there's a poster who's truly pissing you off and ruining your time here, you can try this simple thing:

1. Go to your profile (the icon under the title bar, underneath where it says 'a friendly place for fans . . .' etc) and select the 'friends and foes' tab.

2. Type in the username of the person you want to ignore in the 'foes' section.

3. Save..

I had Wolfgang Gunnerson on 'ignore' but she somehow crept back into my computer today. UGH I put her back on my black list.

I think it is WAAAY too transparent the fact that GCSY gets offended and then Wolfgang Gunnerson reappears suddenly. Sure gives credence to the allegation they are the same (schizophrenic) person.

I was thinking the same thing Lakin. Both are dripping with hate, although GCSY seems to be a little more 'wordsy.'

Well, if GCSY and WG are the same person, she is just using the other alias, hoping that no one will notice. Besides, how did GCSY get my real name? She was probably browsing the forum and found my "MM Meets Nick and Nina" thread, and clicked on the link that led to my Photostream account. Well, that was clever!!

She also asked my to emphasize with her about being called Fatty. So she thinks I'm a fatso, too, just by seeing my pics with Nick and Nina. If I told her to kiss my plump rump, that would be an all-day job for her (at least it would keep her busy).

Haha MM - It's amazing how people can find out information from the internet. Interesting, GCSY somehow found out that Wolfgang Gunnerson sent me a pm a while back. Now how did she find that out? A pm is supposed to be shared between two people. Unless she and GCSY are one and the same. I'm inclined to think they are the same.
