Clooney and Grant Heslov's Smokehouse Pictures has moved from its previous home at Sonar Entertainment.
George Clooney and Grant Heslov are moving their TV deal.
The Catch-22 producers are expanding their relationship with Paramount Television, having inked a two-year, first-look deal with the studio behind the Hulu limited series. The pact arrives as Clooney and Heslov's Smokehouse Pictures' previous overall deal with Sonar Entertainment expired.
"We are thrilled to expand our relationship with Smokehouse. Our experience with them on Catch-22 has been an absolute joy,” said new Paramount TV president Nicole Clemens. “They are first-class filmmakers and producers with a nose for unique stories with deep thematic resonance. We look forward to this new partnership together.”
For Clemens, the Smokehouse deal is her first since she took over as president of Paramount Television, replacing Amy Powell. She previously teamed with Clooney and Heslov on Catch-22 during her time as a manager with Anonymous Content, which also produces the upcoming mini. The six-part drama based on Joseph Heller's novel is currently in postproduction. Paramount TV had the rights to Catch-22 and courted Clooney for the project given that the actor-producer is said to be a fan of Heller's book. He was previously attached to star but reduced his role to focus more on directing some of the episodes. A premiere date has not yet been determined.

"We couldn’t be more excited to be working with Paramount TV. Nicole and her team are great partners and our experience on Catch-22 has been nothing but terrific,” Clooney and Heslov said in a joint statement.
Smokehouse joins a roster of talent at Paramount TV including 13 Reasons Why showrunner Brian Yorkey and exec producer Tom McCarthy; Joe and Anthony Russo; Tracy Oliver; and Paul Feig.
Before signing with Sonar, for whom Smokehouse developed a drama with the creators of Making a Murderer, Clooney and Heslov were based at Sony Pictures TV.
Clooney is repped by CAA and Lichter Grossman. Heslov is with CAA and Gold Coast Management.

Corden collaborator Ben Winston also boards as executive producer.
CBS has tapped one of its go-to emcees, James Corden, as the host of upcoming alternative talent competition The World’s Best.
Additionally, the series has also firmed up a rather impressive roster of judges for the U.S. arm of the new global talent competition. Drew Barrymore, Faith Hill and Emmy favorite RuPaul Charles have all signed on to the project, which will air over 10 episodes in 2019.
“It’s only fitting that The World’s Best perform in front of the world’s best,” said Sharon Vuong, CBS senior vp alternative programming. “James, Drew, Faith and RuPaul are all amazing talents who have excelled in their respective fields on a global scale. We can’t wait for them to bring their distinct voices to a show that’s unlike any other.”
Additionally, Corden collaborator Ben Winston will now executive produce alongside Corden and their Fullwell 73 Productions — in which Hollywood Reporter parent company Valence Media recently purchased a minority stake.
The show, a clear play for NBC’s current reality crown holder America’s Got Talent, comes from genre veterans Mike Darnell (Warner Horizon Unscripted & Alternative Television) and Mark Burnett (MGM Television).
The series will see people competing in multiple fields to impress American judges and a panel of 50 experts from around the world in order to advance through the competition. (It reads like the kind of reality competition one really has to see to comprehend.)
All of the talent on board are no strangers to unscripted entertainment. Corden has his Carpool Karaoke series on Apple, and Charles is the face of VH1’s Emmy-winning juggernaut RuPaul’s Drag Race. (He’s won best host for the last three years running.) Barrymore produced a dating competition for NBC a few years back, and Hill produces talk show Pickler & Ben.
