I don't think it will be the end of the world/civilization.
There will be climate changes, faster advance of technology.
The devil will make sure there is grief and resentment between
nations.

I know all that is active, but I'm talking about in an accelerated speed.

sadly we are still there
I previously didn't say
I don't believe in that 'end'
I wanted only make us talk about that
to learn one another

Re: 2012, the end?
12 -21-12 OR 21-12 -12
This date didn't exist before Man and measurement of time, which is an illusion, Man's greatest invention.
Time doesn't exist, clocks exist. The Universe can exist without time.
Nothing will happen then!
"...people like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion, although a convincing one."
Albert Einstein

Re: 2012, the end?
I've always thought that time is something humans invented, although time does seem to exist as an actual thing for physicists:
In physics, spacetime (or space-time, space time, space-time continuum) is any mathematical model that combines space and time into a single continuum. Spacetime is usually interpreted with space as being three-dimensional and time playing the role of a fourth dimension that is of a different sort from the spatial dimensions. According to certain Euclidean space perceptions, the universe has three dimensions of space and one dimension of time. By combining space and time into a single manifold, physicists have significantly simplified a large number of physical theories, as well as described in a more uniform way the workings of the universe at both the supergalactic and subatomic levels.
In non-relativistic classical mechanics, the use of Euclidean space instead of spacetime is appropriate, as time is treated as universal and constant, being independent of the state of motion of an observer. In relativistic contexts, time cannot be separated from the three dimensions of space, because the observed rate at which time passes for an object depends on the object's velocity relative to the observer and also on the strength of gravitational fields, which can slow the passage of time (from wikipedia - I don't even pretend to understand this!)

Re: 2012, the end?
well
past, present, and future are surely mind production
but my wrinkles don't
anyway
I think in some ways
travelling into some kind of different 'levels'
we can merge all those before
after
and now
I strenuously believe in the power of mind
it can help you in almost every bad time
if your mind can rest unattached
we can also push our brain
over our short sight
even if that can left me
worn out
good, I knew it would bring some discussion
thanks

Re: 2012, the end?
Hmmmm... thanks Katie for posting...
When I look at space in it's 3 dimensions (actually one can look at it with many more... anyways) it feels like a prism... with "time" being the light through it, to disperse into it's 7 colours...
If there are 7 colours to time (phases)... then there can be a danger of our history repeating itself... the not so nice parts... and so, it is important to remember where the "phases" begin, what they were, etc., so one can put forward for one's own satisfaction, an "improved version" of our "space" in it's "time"

Re: 2012, the end?
Quote AOL "The end of the world, it turns out, is marked by an economic boom. 2012 will be a momentous occasion, not only for Belize's large Maya population, but for all Belizeans"
Well, I'm happy for the Mayans but we could use some of this economic boom here.

OK, so now I'm totally confused.
Katie's post - so far beyond me, not even funny.
Pari's post - "so one can put forward for one's own satisfaction, an "improved version" of our "space" in it's "time"" - say what?
CindiGirl's post - So we're going to boom and then bust? IF I ever get rich, I don't wanna die the next day!!!! That would be just mean!

Re: 2012, the end?
At work we had a standing joke whenever we were broke.
One of us would be diagnosed with a terminal illness,
with only 3 months to live. So decides to go on a mad spending spree and maxing up the credit cards.
Then, on the last day, a cure would be found !
Well, we thought it was funny

hahahaha! I must think I only have 3 months to live as I've maxed mine out, but know that I still have to pay them off, so I wish I could die!! (not really about the dying part!)

Re: 2012, the end?
My former post on this thread was about hoping for an economic boom. You know, when you apply for a credit card or loan you can get it. I'm maxed out on all credit cards, loans, credit rating is in the dumper because I am maxed out.
I think I'll move to Maya - maybe then I can afford to buy a hamburger. LOL

Re: 2012, the end?
That means that space is dependent on time and time is dependent on space. But the universe doesn't run on earth time.Katiedot wrote: In physics, spacetime (or space-time, space time, space-time continuum) is any mathematical model that combines space and time into a single continuum. The date 12-21-12 is artificial, made up by humans.
For a table, chair, cat or dog time doesn't exist.
A wikipedia definition of time:
"Time is a part of the measuring system used to sequence events, to compare the durations of events and the intervals between them, and to quantify rates of change such as the motions of objects"
Without motion there is nothing to measure, but things still do exist.

Re: 2012, the end?
I think time is very important. In the Bible, God references time a lot. If time was not important, he would not have said anything about it. There’s a time for everything under the sun. And, if memory serves me correctly, our calendar is duplicated from this calendar in the Bible. Seasons, months, years, etc. He also wrote it in the stars. Not only that, numbers are very important to Him. Not saying something big is going to happen on 12/12/12 but not saying it won’t either. It’s whatever God deems that matters. IMHO
