Re: George and others support writers strike in Hollywood
A living wage & residuals have always been a bargaining point, but now streaming & AI are really complicating things. The idea that a studio would scan a background player once & then use their likeness forever without consent or compensation is disgusting. So too is using AI to alter someone's appearance without their consent, or using their image in projects they're not connected to.
I think this strike is going to change the industry substantially - hopefully for the better.

In the NY Daily News this morning some of the SAG/AFTRA strikers are wondering why the "1%" A-listers aren't joining them on the picket lines. They said it's too easy to release a statement from an air conditioned mansion. Specifically mentioned were Ben Affleck and George. Any thoughts?

Re: George and others support writers strike in Hollywood
Given that he's not based in LA or filming there at the moment, is it a good idea to jump on another plane? He issued a pretty good statement ahead of all this which was way in advance of many - and given his credentials in starting the training school would it be a good idea to jump on a plane and travel even more airmiles to protest? I would have thought that he could be just as effective on a news interview and talking to the powers that be from wherever he was....

Saw something earlier today that the actors unions in the UK will be picketing in solidarity with the Writers' Guild and SAG/AFTRA. If G&A were in the UK maybe he'd do something more visible.
I can't help but wonder if he's doing something behind the scenes. He's connected on both sides of the situation & could use his influence to encourage negotiations. It doesn't look good for him to just sit back and watch.
