Batman's Ben Affleck to reunite with George Clooney
On Amazon Studios flick The Tender Bar.

Argo buddies Ben Affleck and George Clooney are in talks to reunite on Amazon Studios project The Tender Bar.
Fresh from wrapping Ridley Scott's medieval epic The Last Duel last autumn – Affleck portrays King Charles VI – Deadline reports that the duo have been searching for an opportunity to work together again for years, and their wish is now almost sealed in ink.
The Tender Bar would potentially see Affleck in the lead role, while Clooney calls the shots from behind the camera (could there be room for a supporting role, too?)
Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan (The Departed) is behind this one – adapting JR Moehringer's memoir about growing up in Long Island and fishing for father figures at his uncle's bar.
Back in December, Clooney's latest directorial effort The Midnight Sky received four stars in Digital Spy's review.
We commented: "It's a visually striking, emotional and bold sci-fi, telling a bleak, yet oddly hopeful, post-apocalyptic tale of a scientist trying to save a group of astronauts. Just don't go expecting a light festive lark – and do remember to keep the tissues nearby because when Clooney goes for the feels, he doesn't miss."
Expect The Tender Bar to arrive on Amazon Prime Video sometime next year.

As much as I love to see George in any film he chooses to act in, I don't need to see him in every film he's attached to. I'd love to see a film where he's completely focused on directing and doesn't have to split his time juggling both acting and directing - and often producing as well.
Does anyone know why "Midnight Sky" wasn't recognized for any awards? Is it because of when it was released? Will it be eligible next year? Considering the reviews it got there should be some awards coming its way - even if only for visual effects.

Tye Sheridan Joins Ben Affleck in George Clooney's 'Tender Bar' for Amazon
Tye Sheridan, perhaps best known for starring in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, has joined Ben Affleck to star in The Tender Bar, which George Clooney is directing for Amazon.
Tender Bar adapts the memoir of the same name by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and film subject J.R. Moehringer, who will also serve as an executive producer on the film.
The memoir recounts Moehringer’s adolescent years, as he grows up on Long Island in search of a father figure among the patrons at his uncle’s bar.
Sources say Sheridan will play Moehringer in the drama while Affleck is playing the uncle. William Monahan wrote the screenplay.
Clooney and Grant Heslov are producing via Smokehosue Pictures along with Ted Hope, who is operating under his first-look deal with Amazon.
In addition to toppling Ready Player One, which adapted the best-selling sci-fi novel by Ernie Cline, Sheridan played Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, in the recent X-Men movies. In the can, the actor has a starring turn in The Night Clerk, a thriller with Ana De Armas which he also produced, and is also starring in Neil Berger’s sci-fi film Voyagers.
Off screen, the actor is a co-founder of Wonder Dynamics, a media-tech startup whose focus is utilizing Artificial Intelligence and machine learning to develop production tools that would allow indie filmmakers to work with tentpole-level VFX on a fraction of the budget.
Sheridan is repped by WME, Mosais and Genow Schenkman.
