Why Do People Hate Amal Clooney And Why So Many Conspiracy Theories About Her?

Amal Clooney, international human rights lawyer and wife to actor George Clooney, has many fans, but there is also a group of people who look upon her with suspicion. There are a surprising number of conspiracy theories attached to Amal, and none of them are very complimentary of the lawyer and mother of two. Gossip Cop searched out the reasons why Amal seemed to inspire such animosity and we weren’t entirely prepared for the disturbing rumors we discovered.
To some, Amal Clooney seems to have the perfect life. The British-Lebanese lawyer attained a Masters of Law degree from New York University School of Law, even working for future Supreme Court judge Sonia Sotomayor for a semester. Following her graduation, she passed the bar in the US, England, and Wales before becoming an international lawyer.

Shortly after finding success in her career, Amal met her future husband, George, in 2013. The two quickly fell in love and married the very next year. A few years later, the happy couple welcomed fraternal twins, a son named Alexander and a daughter named Ella. To the casual observer, Amal has led a charmed life, but other people suspect the human rights lawyer committed dark deeds to get where she is today.
Perhaps because George Clooney famously remained unmarried for most of his professional life, some of these accusations come out of jealousy. It’s hard not to find derogatory comments about Amal’s looks, though we won’t repeat those comments here. We did come across some allegations during our research that the Clooneys’ marriage was totally faked in order to propel Amal to fame, though it’s not entirely clear just why George would do so, nor what precisely he got out of the bargain. There were also rumors that George was secretly gay, and that marrying Amal was a cover of some sort to hide that fact. It should go without saying that there is no evidence to support either claim, and in fact plenty of proof to the contrary.
One of the most disturbing allegations Gossip Cop discover over the course of our research were claims that Amal Clooney was actually born a man and became a transgender woman. These sorts of rumors constantly spring up about women who have the least bit of muscle tone, and it seems to specifically happen to women of color most often. Both Michelle Obama and Serena Williams, among others, have been accused of secretly being transgender women, despite the fact that all three of the women listed above are mothers. It might just be a coincidence that only a certain sub-section of women face these mean-spirited rumors, but when there are so many coincidences, it might be a pattern. Clearly, this particular rumor is false.
Speaking of bizarre conspiracies, there is a theory that links New York House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), Hilary Clinton staffer Huma Abedin, and Amal Clooney as part of some strange plot by Saudi Arabia. Supposedly, Ocasio-Cortez bears a striking resemblance to Abedin’s sister, Heba, which has led people to believe that the two women are one-and-the-same. That would mean that Ocasio-Cortez was not actually hispanic, rather she was Saudi Arabian.
That, of course, is laughable. First of all, Abedin is actually of Pakistani descent, and she was born in Michigan, though her family did live in Saudi Arabia for some years. Second of all, there is ample evidence that proves Heba and Ocasio-Cortez are, in fact, separate people. The two women do look somewhat alike, but there are obvious differences that make them stand apart. Where does Amal fit in? Well, she supposedly is the spitting image of Abedin, which must mean that she is also a sibling.
Some take this conspiracy even further and allege that Amal, Abedin, Ocasio-Cortez, and New Zealand president Jacinda Ardern are actually all siblings who were test tube babies. These women supposedly were able to rise to positions of authority thanks to the secret organization that created them and scattered them around the world. Does all of that sound confusing and hard to believe? You’d be right to feel that way. It almost goes without saying that there is zero evidence, beyond superficial similarities in appearance, that link any of these women together.
Stepping away from the conspiratorial side of the internet, there is also some outrage over Amal’s profession. Some people question why Amal, who is well known for her human rights activism, doesn’t take on certain cases. Then there’s the outcry over the cases Amal isn’t directly involved in, but has been spoken about. Amal has been very outspoken about the case of Maria Ressa, a prominent journalist from the Philippines, which rubbed some people the wrong way. It’s impossible for Amal to take on every case someone on the internet tags her in, especially since her jurisdiction for practicing the law is limited to two countries.
Tabloids have also done their fair share of tarnishing Amal’s image. Over the years, Gossip Cop has debunked an innumerable amount of rumors about her marriage with George Clooney. The stories usually fall into two separate categories, though the more inventive tabloids enjoy combining the two types of stories in new and interesting ways. Every story is either about how George and Amal Clooney’s marriage is breaking up or a story about how the spouses are having a second set of twins, almost without fail. To spice it up, some tabloids claim the couple are having the second set of twins to save their marriage.
When the tabloids aren’t predicting twins and a divorce for the couple, they’re doing everything they can to make Amal seem uptight and zero fun. For instance, there was the rumor that George and Amal were divorcing over George’s childish antics. Seeing as how that prediction was made last year and the couple haven’t divorced yet, it’s obvious we were correct to judge it to be false.
Another ridiculous story claimed Amal was grossed out by George’s beard and forced him to shave it. Then there was the time the Globe claimed George’s back injury from his Italian scooter accident was causing problems in his marriage. Of course this was just another untrue rumor. When they’re looked at individually, it’s easy to see how silly these articles are, but taken all together, it’s clear to see just how some people came to the conclusion that Amal is cold, bossy, and utterly unsympathetic.
It seems that Amal Clooney’s high profile career, her extremely well-known and well-liked husband, and, unfortunately, Amal’s ethnic background have made her into a controversial figure. Obviously, there will be those who disagree with Amal’s political stances and views, but that didn’t come up nearly as often in Gossip Cop’s research as conspiracy theories about genetic experiments.
It’s incredibly odd, and a bit disheartening, to discover such a well of misinformation and hate about a person, especially one who has clearly dedicated her life to helping those who are most in need of defending. Sure, people are free to dislike whoever they want for whatever reason pleases them best, but it’s so sad to see so many people hate someone for utterly nonsensical reasons.

I don't hate her, I just don't find her very beautiful, she dresses well, she puts on make-up well, but who wouldn't look more beautiful with all the money she spends?

Only one True human rights victim is Nadia and she already did her fight alone long before amal was attached to her!!
george and baria PR is really weak to any one graduated fro a A UNI.
To sum it up I personally care about human rights way before amal faked in to"ehm human rights " lawyer to some famous names.

I'm sorry PAN, I could not find where Amal's human rights cases were highlighted in the article. And from what I've read and seen regarding Amal Clooney's work as a Human Rights Attorney I'm absolutely not impressed. As I've stated in great detail, I don't trust a word that comes out of Amal Clooney, the wife/mother of two's mouth.

PAN - Sorry. Maybe it's the weather or being locked up for months, but today at least I'm sick of hearing how wonderful Mrs. Clooney is. I respect her work. As for the rest - I don't give a fig! I don't think she's beautiful. She is, as Lelacorb said, good with makeup and she dresses well. Of course she does! She's a high profile clothes hanger so all the designers want her to wear their clothes. Personally, I think she's built like an undernourished knobby-kneed 12 year old boy. Just the body type for high fashion. Now that I think of it, she's built a lot like Vera Wang.
It;s a lot easier to have a career and be a great mom when you have a staff to do all the grunt work. Too many of the women I know are stressed to the breaking point during this lockdown, having to do it all with little or no help.
End of rant. I'll probably like her a lot more tomorrow.

That's okay, Lizzy. I've met her and yes, she is incredibly tall and thin and charming (I'm 5ft nothing!) but so
is George and exercises madly to stay that way like most of Hollywood. But it's a shame that
the way people look seems to be important than anything else and it says a lot about
society.
But she's very funny, has a huge brain, is incredibly caring and believes in the welfare and fairness of people -
and very fortunately has George to guide her through the morass that is Hollywood.
Ps Of course,
you're not exactly going to be without funds or influence if you're wandering into a huge
villa on Lake Como with a friend in high places - unless of course you're staff!

It is great that she is all the things George says she is and his pride in her is wonderful. The fact that she is a role model
and inspiring young women around the world is commendable.
The fact that she had made her name before she met George is great she didn't use him. Amal was known in her field well before she became George's wife. And , for those who
say they never heard of her why would you, If you didn't need her service and you weren't interested in human right's law.
Amal has said herself marrying George has shined a bigger light on her cases .

'Hating someone' seems to be a hard word for somebody I don't even know.
I don't know Amal, have never met her, but PANs impression is exactly my impression from the very distance which might of course be wrong. My impression about George is also influenced by articles, reporrs of other people - not just collegues but also staff - about him and how he treats people.
So for me Amal seems to be George's perfect match.
Her fashion style:
I've never really cared about fashion, and she does have her own style which is not classic. I've said it before: I've followed the fashiin blog about her for a while and don't think that the lady who runs it, does her a favor in reporting about everything, the designer and price.
But I don't focus on her clothes. I know I couldn't wear any of them and I'm shocked about the prizes, but lots of others wear them as well. And I don't know if these men don't wear a different different designer suit and tailored shirts every day
About her work:

I had never heard about the fact that lawyers can specialize in human rights before, and oc course these clients have suffered a lot before - and most of them are able to speak out for themselves. And yet, they aren't able to bring these cases to court, and she's also someone to shine a light on them and also up pressure on courts. So she uses her fame and her influence in a good way which is something I like.
All in all, I do admire her for marrying George, knowing that she will never be unnoticed anymore and also that she will be a target for the rest of her life.

heartlove - She has legions of fans outside her inner circle, for everything from the work she does to the clothes she wears. I have days when I don't want to hear about how great she is (yesterday was one of them) but I know she is an accomplished professional who seems to lead a very blessed life.
It's just a bit galling to hear how wonderfully she juggles it all while so many of us are struggling just to stay afloat. We'd all be able to sail through life a lot more easily if we had her support system.
(I guess I'm still not too thrilled with her today.

Amal has many people who admire her whether you believe it or not she has people who love her and know her for who she is. People who get upset at the press hyperbole need to realize that is them trying to sell papers. It has nothing to do with Amal. If her husband describes her as wonderful then he would know and that is what matters. She live her life out of the spot light and keeps her family life private.

Annemarie, we all have the right to believe what we want to believe. You believe Amal Clooney has fans and I believe outside of her inner circle and Carol there are few to none. I am confident NOBODY hates Amal. If she was not in a marriage relationship with the Actor George Clooney, nobody outside of her inner circle would know or care who she is.

heartlove - If she didn't have fans the media wouldn't bother to cover her - no matter who she was married to. They're selling a product. If nobody buys it they're out of business. Do they cover her more because she's married to George? Yes, but if people weren't interested in her even that wouldn't be enough for the media coverage she gets.
And Annemarie, you're right. It's the media's image of her that's so annoying - not her personally. For all I know she's exactly as wonderful as they say she is.

The problem, if I can call it that, is that we don't hear from Amal herself, but from journalists writing stuff about her -- and most of those 'journalists' are from the gossip publications/websites who only write brainless idiocies, mixed in with one or two facts they've pulled from the internet. They've not actually met her, nor are in the position to evaluate what sort of person she is, nor how good she is professionally. Then those articles get repeated ad infinitum.
This gives the impression of there being a lot of favourable (ok, arse-licking) media coverage when she hasn't in fact given any interviews or done anything specific for that coverage, other than being married to George Clooney.
I don't know about Amal having fans as such, but I can tell you for a fact that the posts about George's other half ALWAYS get far more clicks and comments than posts about George himself. As the owner of a George Clooney fan site, it often made me tear my hair out with despair: there'd be a sighting of George, and it would get maybe four, five, six comments, then a sighting of Amal and there'd be many more comments. If there was a sighting of the two of them together, guess which one of them had the most written about in the comments?

Katie - I think you're right. I guess I'm just tired of having her "perfection" shoved in my face while George is treated as if he only exists as a backdrop for her. She may be accomplished in the field of human rights, but so is George - and he has been since long before he met her. He also, as some of these tabloids seem to forget, has had a very successful career of his own that far outshadows hers.

Heartlove I'm sure your wrong. Amal is rarely seen she and George lead a quite life. We have seen them twice this year.
The paps take her picture because there are those who like to see her and like to hate on her. The same way they do George.

Katie, I think your observation is very interesting. Over the years I've had this conversation with the love of my life. I want to thank you for being the piece of the puzzle that proves me right. I've also noticed before Amal there were tons of posters, who no longer post here. Even within the last year or two many regulars rarely post or stopped posting all together.
