Police hunt millionaire’s missing son after disappearing near George Clooney’s house
Nothing to do with George, other than it's near where he lives. Wishing them all the best of luck finding the lad.

POLICE were hunting for the missing son of a millionaire who disappeared close to George Clooney’s house.
Fears were growing for the safety of Alexander Stern, 36, who was last seen leaving a pub near the Hollywood star’s £12m mansion, in Sonning, Berkshire.

Mr Stern is the son of stationery tycoon Ronald Stern - who is famed as one of Britain’s top Ferrari collectors.
He sold one of the Italian supercars for £21million.
The Stern family live in an £8million home in Hampstead, London, while Alexander had moved to upmarket Kensington, where he had a business.
Alexander, who is thought to be boss of a property company, was last seen on a CCTV a at The Bull pub in the exclusive village.
A major police search in Sonning has failed to find any sign of Mr Stern amid fears he might have fallen into the fast-flowing River Thames, which runs alongside the theatre and the actor's home.
Det Insp Ben Henley, said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Alexander’s welfare and I would like to appeal for anyone who has seen him, or who might have any information as to his whereabouts, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "We are appealing for the public’s help to trace a man who is believed to be missing in Sonning.
"Alexander Stern, aged 36 years, who is from the Kensington area of west London, was last seen in the Bull Inn, Sonning at about 7.30pm on Saturday.
"When he was last seen he was wearing dark clothing and was carrying a rucksack. It is possible that he is no longer in possession of the rucksack."

Just wondering . Have they had any luck finding this man? Seems he's been missing quite a while. His family must be frantic.

Re: Police hunt millionaire’s missing son after disappearing near George Clooney’s house
Rubbish. The neighbourhood is delightful and the Thames runs through Sonning on three sides. It is absolutely overwhelmed with people wanting to buy property there - take a look online. And very few properties under a million
Oh..and they do not know if he's dead. He is the 36 yr old son of a millionaire and he could be anywhere.
And if we're talking about bodies, there were over 1500 gun deaths in California alone in 2018. The whole of the UK had 60. There goes the neighbourhood?

PAN - Well put! Some people can't see the forest for the trees.
When the story first came out it seemed as if the police thought Mr. Stern had somehow fallen into the Thames and drowned. Now it seems they're considering that he may have chosen to disappear. Are his family using the media to try and contact him? (On the off chance that he is still alive.) I can't imagine how not knowing must feel. Just terrible for them.

The news reports don’t give much detail on Stern. Was he mentally stable? He is wealthy and owns a property company. Could he have been involved in some crooked deals and was running away before the truth comes out? Or was he involved with some shady characters who caught up with him or he had to escape from. Melodramatic scenarios for sure but I guess anything is possible. No info about a girlfriend. Assume he wasn’t married. This isn’t the first recent incident that happened in Sonning. I can’t remember the details but there was another story over a year ago.

Wow! I just thought maybe he had too much to drink and fell into the river, or fell and bumped his head and wandered off. Those other scenarios never occurred to me.

Maybe just a bit, but they are all plausible scenarios. You'd make a good detective!

There is no need for George to run from his home. This man has nothing to do with George .

The body of a multi-millionaire's son was found floating in the River Thames by a canoeist almost three months after he mysteriously disappeared, an inquest heard.
Alexander Stern was last seen dragging a suitcase behind him just a few yards from the home of Hollywood actor George Clooney in Sonning-on-Thames, Berkshire, on January 11.
Despite huge searches by police in and around the swollen and flooded river, no trace of 36-year-old Mr Stern - the son of stationery tycoon Ronald Stern - was found.
That was until April 3, when Thames Valley Police said a badly-decomposed man's body was discovered in the river about two miles downstream near Charvil.
An inquest into Mr Stern's death at Reading Coroner's Court today said the mystery of how Mr Stern ended up in the river is still unsolved.

Mr Stern was carrying a rucksack and dragging a suitcase (pictured in CCTV footage) when he left The Bull Inn pub in Sonning around 7.30pm on January 11
Senior coroner for Berkshire Heidi Connor said: '[Mr Stern] has been found deceased on April 4 in the River Thames, within the Berkshire jurisdiction.
'It would appear that his body has been found by somebody out using his canoe.

Despite huge searches by police in and around the swollen and flooded river in Sonning, no trace of 36-year-old Mr Stern (pictured) - the son of stationery tycoon Ronald Stern - was found
'A post mortem examination has been carried out by a doctor at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and unfortunately the cause of death is unascertained.'
Mrs Connor said a full inquest would be listed for January 4 next year, where the days leading up to Mr Stern's disappearance would be fully explored.
It was thought other members of the Stern family, including Ronald Stern, could be called to give evidence.
The Ferrari-collecting tycoon once famously sold one of his expensive Italian cars for a staggering £21 million.
The family home is an £8million mansion in Hampstead, London but Mr Stern - himself a former property company owner and director - was living in Kensington, west London.
Witnesses said Mr Stern was carrying a rucksack when he left The Bull Inn pub in Sonning, Berkshire, around 7.30pm on January 11.
He was captured on CCTV walking towards Sonning Bridge.
A few days later it was revealed that a postman had found a rucksack on the bridge above the Thames, which was swollen and flooded following a series of storms.
One image showed Alexander in the bar of The Bull. Another showed him leaving the pub and wheeling a suitcase along the street, heading past Coppa Club towards Sonning Bridge.
The Environment Agency warned the Thames was swollen following weeks of relentless rain.
Many riverside footpaths were under water and people could be swept into the raging watercourses.
Search teams looked all around the flooded Thames at Sonning - where ex-PM Theresa May lives and where Clooney and wife Amal have a £10million converted millhouse.
Adjourning the inquest of Mr Stern, Mrs Connor said: 'I would like to record my condolences to his family and friends at this time.'
A number of search and rescue operations were carried out with the assistance of the Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue Team, as fears that Alexander might have fallen into the fast-flowing River Thames grew.
Alexander was the director of his own real estate company.
He had registered his firm 'Merchant Real Estate Ltd' at Companies' House on March 23, 2016.
He dissolved the company just over a year later in the summer of 2017 for unknown reasons.
