The Hollywood A-lister had been known for his many relationships and life as a bachelor. Then in 2013, George met Amal Alamuddin, a brilliant human rights lawyer, and his world changed forever. Things moved fast for the two, who in April of 2014 got engaged after just months of dating. All eyes were always on the stunning couple, who exuded elegance and sophistication with their regal fashion ensembles, wherever they went. George and Amal officially became husband and wife on Sept. 27, 2014 in a breathtaking wedding in Venice, Italy. In 2017, it was announced that George and Amal were expecting twins together.
The relatively private pair welcomed son Alexander and daughter Ella, in June 2017, and have yet to share photos of their little ones. While they may keep their family out of the public eye, the actor continues to share stories about how much he loves his wife, and admires her.

I have to agree their love story is the biggest fairytale of all time. I wonder why they picked that picture, George looks miserable.

I find that pic especially flattering of both of them. In fact George looks exceptionally distinguished. Sure miss seeing him in real time though ... those candid shots of him on his motorcycle (no more I guess), walking to his car, out on a date with Amal ...

Maybe they could have picked one of the pictures where George Clooney looks happy to feature the cover story.

Wow! I did go back and read the comments on that thread (funny!) and to be honest, what struck me most was how many COH posters we've lost since then. Even our mods have gone. Too depressing. I'm going back down my newest rabbit hole to cheer myself up before I get dragged away to watch the ball drop.

Thank you, guys!
You really made my daa!
I've just spent the morning reading through all the threads in the news section from 2013 to 2014.
Since I joined the forum after the wedding, I hadn't been aware of the previous posts and speculations but really enjoyed reading them...

Oh great, Carol - so pleased. You could have many happy hours tracking through the years 'til now!
I also think the forum has become much more topical which is great. and also reflects Clooney family views and values
And don't forget, Lizzy, that when there is any real news, looks like 1100 others tune in!

Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
PAN - I know, I know - but lately those times are few and far between. I love coming here to chat about all kinds of things but I miss George! He's becoming the "invisible man". I can understand why he'd want to step out of the spotlight a bit at this point in his life, but it's hard to stay interested in someone who gives you nothing for months at a time. I'm not giving up, but I do wish he'd pop his head up once in a while.

Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
Yep, I do get it, Lizzy.
And when he's filming in London for six months - and lives here - it must seem a bit distant, no matter that they live in NYC quite often.
They have definitely shielded their lives for all the obvious reasons, and Sonning folks - and Laglio - will always respect his privacy and nowadays as he said in Finland recently he spends way more time on a daily basis on all his charity work.
For all we know, they could be in Lebanon visiting all their sponsored refugee schools they've set up.............
Have wondered if Clooney Sr. is well....

Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
True. They could be anywhere. I was wondering if they spent any holiday time with Nick and Nina. Nick has had some health problems and he is getting up there. I would think George would want to spend as much time with him as possible.
Anyway...I guess we'll see them when we see them - which will be when George decides to surface (or as PigPen would probably say, when he has something to do publicity for). I'll just keep listening to B&B while I wait.

I have thought of his parent's also they are up in age. We didn't see them in Italy last summer, hopefully they are doing well.
Making movies is probably second to his and Amal's charity endeavors.

Not on our watch, was mostly done in private. Signing on with Amal put George Clooney's charity work in the main stream media. And made Amal Alamuddin-Clooney a household name.

George got involved with the crisis in Darfur in 2006 and led the way with John Prendergast and Matt Damon, Don Cheadle and many more with Not On Our Watch and has been heavily involved with South Sudan, The Lost Boys and the country's stability despite Omar al Bashir ever since. He also led on the Hope for Haiti telethon after the hurricane hit (2012?) and has worked tirelessly - the funding of Satellite Sentinel etc - ever since

He was also pretty vocal about US politics for years, although he hasn't said much lately. Maybe too busy, or maybe not as interested since he doesn't really live here anymore.

Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
I agree with others here. George’s humanitarian work has always been a big part of who George is. And his many causes and non profit work was very well known before Amal came on the scene.
Lizzy echoed how I feel about not seeing George publicly as much as we used to. But because his life has changed in the last few years I think that we have to look at him in a different light to some extent. I still adore George but it’s not the same as before he married. Not swooning as much I still appreciate his work ethic, integrity and values. He has expanded his humanitarian work and its extremely important to him... on equal footing as his film work and may be just as time consuming. After all those years being in the limelight I think he appreciates his new role as husband and father so may prefer not being the center of attention. He hasn’t been front and center in the movie business the last few years and he may be quite content about that.

Have to say that after what CarolHathaway was saying about going thro' the threads at the start of the romance, I started to do a bit of that myself.
And then started laughing at all our posts wondering about their relationship when all the time he was hanging out in Amal's flat in Notting Hill for over a month!!

I have to agree Donna, I truly believe as life transitions it's important to keep the relationship with Amal Clooney and their twins out of the media as much as possible.Donnamarie wrote:I agree with others here. Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
I think the life transition began when he met Amal . He met his match and began working towards what he wanted for the future. he said himself there are no scripts he really wants to do. He loves directing at this point more than acting. He also doesn't need the money. As for what he let's us know if you go back and look at his interviews we really only know bits and pieces, which to me makes perfect sense. He was protective of his privacy and now even more so with Amal and the kids.
I am grateful his life isn't as public as all the reality supposed stars of today. Way too much information that no one really needs to see.
He may be the last old world star, by that I mean not may interviews keeping his life with his family to himself.
I think that may be why the tabloids go after him, we seem to live in a world where misery loves company .
rags know there are those who don't like him for what ever reason so they feed them the lies that they keep rehashing, knowing full well that those miserable people who don't like the idea he is happy will buy the nonsense.
If you know anything about a Taurus, you know his family friends and home mean the world to him .

Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
Annemarie, for the last five years George Clooney and Amal Clooney were photographed everywhere; especially with Casamigos promotions. You use to see them with Randy and Cindy alot, after the sell of Casamigos that faded.
The transition I'm talking about is where George Clooney's relationship with Amal Clooney and thier twins will now be kept out of the media as much as possible; especially the relationship with Amal Clooney. I'm sure Amal Clooney is happy the media attention has faded; their twins have pretty much been kept out of sight. I'm sure that will be the case as life moves forward.
I thought for once we shared the same understanding regarding George Clooney and Amal Clooney's marriage relationship.

Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
You and I know nothing of their relationship . I don't believe any of the crap the rags print they know the lies will sell because there are those who want to believe the nonsense that they pay for to get the lies. I believe George and what he says how happy he is and how much he and Amal are a great team period. I also believe Amal in her speech at the AFI . I think this is the other part of the transition is they are older have two kids and want to protect them from the crazy.
I had noticed going back three years we didn't see as much of them as before. I think that may have been in part because they had their home . Amal did say that is why they have the house they can have family and friends there with no paps bothering them. Also, they do have security concerns with Amal's job so being seen less is probably a part of the plan to insure their security. What I think is interesting is even after they married we rarely ever saw and even now see Amal out and about other than work or a charity event.

Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
I have not made an assumption. For the last five years George Clooney and Amal Clooney were photographed everywhere; especially with Casamigos promotions, that's a true statement. Since Casamigos sold I have not seen them out as much with Rande and Cindy; that's a true statement. That has nothing to do with a rag magazine.annemarie wrote:You and I know nothing of their relationship we are simply making assumptions. Re: The Biggest Love Stories of the Decade
We know nothing of their relationship other than what they have said. Them going out is simply one part of their relationship certainly nothing that defines it.
I think priorities change and going out is not as important with the kids, George has said they would rather be home with the kids. I believe the kids
have brought the biggest transition for them.

Brilliantly stated, .Annemarie. George and Amal are doing wonderful things for the world. And in doing so set an example to many others.
All the rubbish in the rags bears no relation to their lives and how they live them. Such a shame really that people choose to buy and believe that stuff rather than reading about all the positives they are involved in.
