Manny Hernandez, now 47, was still in college when he hit the streets of Miami and began photographing ­celebrities. It was the 1990s, and the city had emerged as a glitzy refuge where movie stars could let loose and the nightclubs were bumping. “People felt comfortable going out and having fun here,” Hernandez told The Post. “It was a new renaissance for the city, and I was lucky enough to document it.” The clubs, parties and the freewheeling celebs are all captured in his recently published book “Candids Miami” (Wynwood Books). Here, in his own words, are some of Hernandez’s favorite shots from a special time and place.

“Clooney was in Miami, shooting ‘Out of Sight’ and staying at the Delano Hotel. I got word that every afternoon a basketball hoop was brought to the [street] for him. I showed up, stood 40 feet away and shot pictures. One of Clooney’s guards came over and told me I was bothering his client. I said, ‘How? This is a public street.’ Then the police came. But the officers said, ‘We’re sick of people calling us for these dumb things. We suggest that you get closer.’ I did, and that’s when a limo pulled up and Bono stepped out.”
