“Language can give shape to our way of thinking. And Donald Trump knows this. " Linguist George Lakoff continues to provide tools to understand the mechanisms of political propaganda, not just us. Donald Trump has been doing the seller for almost half a century, and is now selling himself and his worldview, wrote Lakoff on the Guardian. To do this he uses the language and the media: the President of the United States knows that the press fails to resist the temptation to repeat his shots, especially the most exaggerated and offensive, and this allows him to transform journalists into Involuntary megaphones. Marketing and advertising experts know these mechanisms well. And there's the "balloon of art" to see how people react to an idea.

Lakoff gives reporters some suggestions. Stop spreading Trump's lies, avoiding repeating in the headlines his own words. Focus on the news from which Trump is trying to divert attention and facts that his strategies want to hide. Prevent him from guiding the political debate, not chasing his statements and, when it is strictly necessary to publish them, always providing a broader context to be able to interpret them better.
