She recently gushed she had found 'the great love she always hoped existed' in a rare public speech about her husband George Clooney.
And Amal Clooney looked the epitome of happiness as she arrived for the WAAAUB Uk Chapter Gala Dinner in London on Saturday night.
The human rights lawyer, 40, stunned in a crushed velvet gown as she headed into the bash, held at the Jumeirah Carlton Hotel.

The mother-of-two styled her dark brunette locks in tousled waves and enhanced her Lebanese-British beauty with a slick of deep pink lipstick, grey eye-shadow and blush-swept cheeks.

She finished off her elegant evening ensemble with a simple silver clutch bag and diamond bracelet. 
Amal is attending the bash held by the WAAAUB UK Chapter, which is the UK based alumni group of the American University of Beirut. 
Just two weeks ago Amal moved her actor husband George, 57, to tears when she paid tribute to him as he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute at Hollywood's Dolby Theater.

As the human rights lawyer took to the stage at the star-studded ceremony, she spoke publicly for the first time about the couple's one-year-old twins Ella and Alexander — and gushed about the 'joy' they give her.
She said of her Oscar winner husband: 'He is the person who has my complete admiration and also the person whose smile makes me melt every time. My love, what I have found with you is the great love I always hoped existed.
 'And seeing you with our children, Ella and Alexander, is the greatest joy in my life.'
'You fill our home with laughter and happiness and that’s even before the children have worked out that "da-da" is Batman, a talking fox, and friends with Mary Poppins.'
Her rousing speech came just a day after the twins celebrated their first birthday. During the event, Amal also candidly confessed she had 'resigned herself to life as a spinster' before meeting the superstar five years ago.

This is the worldwide Alumni Association of the American University of Beirut annual bash at which Amal is a speaker.

Her father was a professor there, and her grandmother was the first woman graduate

Amal's personality really shines in her absolutely beautiful burgundy crush velvet dress.

It has to be an honor for her to speak at the Gala.

Absolutely agree ladybug.  What a beautiful gown.  The rich color really complements Amal’s dark hair.  A busy week for Amal while George is filming in Italy.  Wonder when she and the children will head to Como.

I think George is in London too.......no sightings of him in Sardinia, but remember he can continue to work in his offices here - when he's not playing with the twins - I think it's sweet that they seem to take turns so that one of them is with them........and they talked on the red carpet about the twins celebrations when they were back in London. Father's Day tomorrow

I'm surprised George is not there with Amal.  I hope we will see George, Amal, their twins, and extended family in Como this summer.  I've only seen pictures of their twins on Clooney's Open House.  Is "Chi" the Italian version of the  "Enquirer"?  I can't figure out why more news outlets did not pick up the pictures of them exiting the plane.

I'm not surprised he's not there at all. Remember he did a Casamigos event in LA and Amal stayed at home with the babies. Like I said I think that's how they do things.

Worse than the Enquirer.

I think George is working and he took off time last week.  As for the pictures I  think the sites were worried about being sued.

I may be wrong but I don't think we will see the twins much if at all in Italy this summer.  I think they will continue to keep the kids away from the paps as much as they can.

How cold is it in London that wearing velvet in June goes uncommented??

Some of our evenings have been a bit chilly.

But Amal's dress wasn't a "warm snuggle" one with 
the top being quite exposed.
