He was supposed to be honored by his longtime collaborator Julia Roberts. 
But when the actress had to pull out of George Clooney's AFI Life Achievement award ceremony on Thursday, he was instead honored by his father Nick, who delivered a few words about his famous son.
Veteran actress Shirley MacLaine presented the 57-year-old with his award on the stage of the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.
