Okay, so Amal changed for the after-show party (I guess to be able to move or not to be stepped on her trail). Looks very elegant and 'normal'.

Certainly is a stunning dress - although not something I'd classify as 'end of the evening comfy'!

Met Gala 2018 afterparty: Amal Clooney changes into red mosaic sequined gown to party with husband George after wowing with 4ft train
By Rebecca Davison for MailOnline
PUBLISHED: 13:16 BST, 8 May 2018
She has one of the most coveted wardrobes in the world, so it comes as little surprise that Amal Clooney wore not one, but two outfits on Monday night.
The 40-year-old barrister slipped into a stunning red mosaic gown which fitted her body perfectly as she partied the night away with her husband George, 57 shortly after arriving at the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum Of Art.
She matched her accessories perfectly to her dress, opting to wear red satin shoes and carrying a matching clutch, before heading out to party with her man.

Show-stopper: Earlier, Amal made a big impression at the event, wearing a two-piece with a detachable four-foot long train - she co-chaired the annual party with Anna Wintour
Her raven locks were styled into loose curls as the power couple posed for snaps along with their pals, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber.Handsome actor George remained in his black suit all night as he proudly walked around with his wife on his arm.
Couture-loving Amal wore two incredible looks on the night and was chosen to co-chair with US Vogue's Editor-in-chief;Anna Wintour, Donatella Versace and Rihanna.

Cute: She and George looked like they had stepped straight out of the pages of a fashion magazine as they linked arms with one another and headed back to their hotel
Earlier on in the evening, Amal looked stunning in a strapless gown that had a silver bustier, dark slacks and a floral train that was at least four feet long.
George joked on the red carpet that his wife had hidden twins George and Alexander under her enormous skirt.
This year's event has the theme Heavenly Bodies: Fashion And The Catholic Imagination.
Amal's outfit was certainly eye catching as it offered a very shiny bustier top that had no straps and came in nicely at the waist.

A-listers: They partied alongside good pals Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, (first and second left). at the Met Gala, where Amal appears to have got changed halfway through

Sweet: Amal draped her arm around George's shoulder as the good-looking foursome caught up
Designed by up and coming Brit Richard Quinn, Amal added dark slacks and heels.
And for a nice pop of the unusual, the skirt was attached at the back and featured a red rose pattern over a pale blue background. There were also white Stargazers in the design.
The duo seemed inseparable on the beige carpet.

The night before Clooney found time to take her husband to dinner in Manhattan to celebrate his 57th birthday.
She had on a very short black romper that showed off her toned, slender legs. The power couple held hands as they stepped out of Laconda Verde in the Tribeca area of New York City.
Both smiled as if they had just had the best dinner of their life. Amal looked perfectly styled in her silky outfit with a gold belt and strappy beige heels that showed off a pretty light pink pedicure.
The cover girl added bright cherry red lipstick and had her eyebrows nicely filled in for a Kim Kardashian arch.

Clooney was movie star handsome as always in a black shirt and suit with matching dress shoes. The ER vet wore his grey beard nicely manicured and seemed to sport a fresh Cary Grant tan.
Earlier in the day, the Crawford-Gerber family wished the Ocean's Eleven actor well. Taking to Instagram, both supermodel Cindy Crawford, 52, and her husband Rande Gerber, 56, were quick to send their wishes to the Hollywood star on his special day.

'No other religion would be made fun of in this way': Christian fury at Met Gala's 'blasphemous' Catholic theme as Rihanna goes dressed as the Pope and Katy Perry wears angel's wings
By IAIN BURNS FOR MAILONLINE and WIRES

Catholics have vented their fury at last night's 'disrespectful' and 'blasphemous' Met Gala theme, which encouraged celebrities to wear outfits inspired by Christianity.
The annual fundraising fete in New York brings out Hollywood's elite to celebrate the spring exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, with this year's titled: 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.'
Pop star Rihanna created the biggest stir, attending in a short skirt, robe and mitre-like hat reminiscent of the Pope's headgear.
Katy Perry - who met Pope Francis on April 28 - also drew a lot of attention by coming dressed as an angel, complete with huge feathered wings.

Amal’s mosaic dress was simply beautiful especially the design on the front. She could have easily worn this one for the actual gala. Cindy also looked terrific last night too.
Hmmm, I wonder what the Cardinal and George were musing about?

Tim is a wonderfully warm man... not surprised George is beaming...Tim looks like the celeb.... Looool....
Tim had noooo problem being part of this event....I just don’t think most high clergy, Tulku, Lama, Jagad Guru, Allamah, would have embraced the fashionisation of their religion with such good grace.....
George! George! Listen to me invite Tim to Como...He just might be in Europe late September....

Piers Morgan was highly offended apparently , he feels the celebrity's disrespected his religion.

I read that the Vatican sponsored the event, so...

Seems to me that there were a hell of a lot of priests who disrespected their own religion by abusing young boys for decades. No religion should be so righteous that you can’t joke or have fun through artistic expression. Agree with WWHS - ‘If you can’t take a joke don’t be Catholic’.

Yep, he doesn't seem to have appreciated that the whole exhibition was set up in conjunction with and advised by The Vatican who also lent many exhibits and artifacts! They even sent the choir of the Sistine Chapel to take part........

Amal's red formal dress fits her perfectly.

I'm not crazy about the red gown, although it is beautifully made. It must have weighed a ton and those paillets must have been pretty uncomfortable when she sat down. I'm not surprised she changed into a mini later on. Much more comfy and, IMO, much more her style.

Actually, I think that her short dress was the second one, because she was seen returning to the hotel with the red gown.

I got the impression she returned to the hotel in the red gown, changed into the mini and went out again. I could be wrong, and honestly at this point I don't really care what she wore or when she wore it. Time to move on.

George Clooney Was Having a Lot of Fun at the Met Gala After-Party, and by That, We Mean Wasted
By Jackson McHenry
The dressy outfit portion of Met Gala coverage is solidly over and now we’ve moved onto hashing out the events of the messy after-parties. On Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen took the opportunity to discuss who exactly was the most sloshed after the event. Cohen himself claimed that “another talk show host and it’s not Jimmy Fallon” was the most drunk (hello, Stephen Colbert?), while Winnie Harlow admitted that she met George Clooney for the first time and he was having the time of his life. Rihanna was apparently also in a good mood, but mostly because she was a perfect host. Because she was nice to everyone and totally charming. Because she is Rihanna.

Cheers to George. Glad our boy was having a good time! He looked like he weathered it well from the looks of the pix of him leaving the next day.

Absolutely Catholic Priests AND Nuns abused innocent kids... for decades....
But guess what some teachers did, a few widow cleaners did, a handful of sport coaches did, a number of bus drivers did, and rumour had it taxi drivers too. The police were not immune from having BAD BAD APPLES...Same for Dentists, Nannies, Nurses, Journalists, Pilots, Cleaners, Politicians, Tinker, Soldier and Spy’s...
So enough ...IN YOUR PROFESSION CAN YOU SAY “NOT IN MY JOB, HELL NO!!! NO PEADO’s IN MY JOB”....
If you turn a blind eye....Close the other quick....

Anna Wintoour was on the Stephen Colbert show. She said that Amal's first gown was made of tin foil, and she was afraid if she wore it all night it would rip so she changed to the red gown which was by Tom Ford.

"You sell this dress at the gift shop?"
hahaha! The exact same thought went through my mind when she said that Amal went into the gift shop to change into the red dress!

And we now know why she didn't wear it in the car it would have been ruined.

I don't understand why she would wear a dress made of foil. The foil had to be reinforced with some type of fabric. How does she get the wrinkles out.

I'm sticking with my first impression of Amal's dress. Not tin foil - mylar, like they make the balloons out of. It's lighter weight, easier to work with and doesn't crunkle up like tin foil. Also, I'm not too sure you can print on tin foil like you can on mylar. Maybe the bustier was tin foil, but I'm betting the skirt was mylar.

Which to me seems like another reason to use mylar instead of tin foil.ladybugcngc wrote:Mylar is extremely difficult to rip.
