Re: May Chit Chat
It's a May Public Holiday Weekend here in UK.
Which means a lot of people have Monday off from work.
And for once the weather is hot and sunny this weekend.
YAAY.
KATIE.....I'm pleased that you'll be here in UK
for the Royal Wedding on May 19.
Obviously there's loads of TV coverage of the event,
both on BBC and SKY.
So ENJOY.

Ooh, I can't wait! I've already placed an Ocado order for scones, clotted cream, jam, prosecco and other sundry delights. We're going to make an afternoon of it! I've even - pause to get over the embarrassment - ordered a tin of shortbread from M&S in a commemorative royal wedding tin.
Wait, I think I get share a photo of it. Here we go:

There was also a rather nice one for the new prince thingagumbob, but I decided I'm not spending twelve quid on biscuits and anyway, this is the third baby.

I love seeing how everyone gets all dressed up. I can't wait to see Meghan's dress and how Amal's hairdresser does her hair. I'm curious to get a look at her family and see how they interact with the royals - if they do.
Katie, the tin is very nice. Are the biscuits good as well, or are you just really paying for the souvenir tin? I love those things. They're great for keeping all kinds of things in once the contents are gone.

Me too! I love the show of it all. Can’t wait to see Meghan’s gown.
The biscuits look yummy Katie. They look like a proper shortbread .... made with a pound of butter? What’s not to like?!

Shortbreads are just yummie, I love them and always buy several boxes when I'm in England. (You actually can buy them in special shops in Germany, but they are just too expensive...)
When I was a kid, I always bought 'Kellogg's Variety' which are about eight small boxes of different cereals which you could never get in Germany (and my mum hadn't bought them anyway). Now you get them in every German supermarket, and it's simply not the same.
I also love Club Orange by McVitiesand just ate the last one I had bought in England last summer.
I really love to taste the food in other countries!

Carolhathaway -
I remember those Kellogg's eight-packs! They were great for a quick breakfast or a snack. I also remember only wanting to eat my favorites and my mother being annoyed that I made her buy the whole thing just to eat a couple of boxes. (The 8-pack was more expensive than buying a couple of larger boxes.)
I also just remembered one summer at camp. We went on a sleep-out in the "woods" (really just a small stretch of trees - the camp was in farmland). Anyway, when we woke up in the morning the camp counselors said they had hidden our breakfast - Kellogg's cereal boxes and containers of milk - all around our campsite. If we wanted to eat we'd have to find it ourselves. What they failed to tell us (and I'm not even sure they knew themselves) was that our little patch of trees was in the middle of a cow pasture. As the sun rose, so did the smell! We abandoned the hunt and headed back to camp where they hosed us down before they let us back on the campgrounds! ![Laughing](https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/icon_lol.gif)
I agree about tasting food in other countries. I think it might be the best part of traveling! My favorite? Peaches in Italy! Huge, so sweet and dripping with juice! Absolutely wonderful!

I read somewhere that he doesn't even know Meghan and is not doing her hair and the Clooney's probably are NOT going as per his initial tweet. What a bonehead!

We had primary elections in my state yesterday. For the first time in my voting life, I did not study the details of the candidates' histories. It went like this:
If a woman was a choice, she got my vote.
If there was an incumbent vs a challenger, the challenger got my vote.
Fortunately, there were no instances where the incumbent is a woman.
This is a prelude to the midterms. New blood. More women. And I don't care one whit who the Democrat is; he or she will get my vote. Vote Blue, no matter who. (And I'm a registered Independent.)

YAY, Way! Way to go!!!!!!!! Not sure I'd agree about candidates histories as there are some women whose platforms I don't agree with, but I honestly believe that voting blue is the only way to bring any semblance of ethics and responsibility and dignity back to our government.Way2Old4Dis wrote:We had primary elections in my state yesterday. Lizzy, I concur fully about the history thing. I didn't vote blindly, but it was pretty damn close. But, you know what? I figure that, even in the worst of circumstances, Democrats won't enable and abet a criminal. I mean, look at what they did to Al Franken, a perfectly good Senator.

Re: May Chit Chat
I just read a very sweet police report on our local newspaper:
A local woman called the police and said that she can't reach her daughter via phone and asked the officers to drive to her daughter's home just a few miles away to check if she's okay. The police did so and met the daughter who apologized and told the officers that she just had been out longer than usually so her mom wasn't able to reach her on the phone.
The sweet issue about is that the daughter is 80, and her mom is 105.
As long as your parents are alive, you'll always remain being a child...

Yep! Especially now because they're trying to re-energize the party and be as inclusive as possible. They want to remind people what's good about the party and bring all the different factions together. If we're going to take back Congress, Bernie's progressives and the millennials are going to have to figure out how to work with middle-of-the-road old school party regulars. There's a lot of work to do before election day. Just keep voting BLUE!Way2Old4Dis wrote:Lizzy, I concur fully about the history thing. I didn't vote blindly, but it was pretty damn close. Sad to hear that. I saw the first Christopher Reeve "Superman" movie at a screening and I remember her from that movie. She was really good. I seem to remember something about her not being well sometime after that, but I don't remember what the issue was. Sad to know she's gone.

On mother's day my daughter invited me to go to the movies with her. We went to a special screening of 'Mamma Mia' at our local cinema for mothers and daughters. The mothers got a glass of champagne, the kids got popcorn. The film contained the texts of all the songs, so about 100 women sung throughout the whole film.
A great campaign for the upcoming sequel. Not to forget the unvelievable news that ABBA recorded two new songs, just 35 years after they seperated...

My niece gave birth to a baby boy named Fynn on Tuesday,
I saw him today after they had returned from the hospital and was shocked how small he is - although my twins were much smaller due to their premature birth. But he seems to be healthy and fine although ny niece had ignored her pregnancy until six weeks ago.
