Re: Leatherheads
Leather Heads will always have a special place in my heart! I live in Salisbury NC, and it truly is a magical, historic, small town that always invites everyone, not just celebrities, to enjoy what our town has to offer. We have a very rich history and are very proud of it. Just early this week, Justin Beiber stopped by the Transportation Museum in Spencer, (which is next door to Salisbury)Which is also where some scenes from Leather Heads were filmed. Of course the museum was closed for Justin, but he paid/donated a good amount of money to help keep it running!

I am with you cindigirl, I was very disappointed. I loved the music and the costumes and the style but the storyline and acting was just too much. I so wanted to like it too....

Re: Leatherheads
I'm with you girls; while I liked the script (the back and forth between George's and Renee's characters was great) but overall it felt over-acted and silly rather than funny.silly girl wrote:I am with you cindigirl, I was very disappointed. George was too old for his role and either Renee was too old or John was too young.

Unfortunately Joanna, I did not. I had rotator cuff surgery the Friday before they came on Monday to shoot the scenes at the Train Depot here in Salisbury and at the Transportation Museum in Spencer. I told every one that I was going to make it, but when Sunday night rolled around, I knew there was no way that I would be able to drive myself to the Depot. And all of my friends were working, so they couldn't drive me, plus, I felt soooo bad, there was no way that I could have stood up for that long amount of time. I was NOT prepared for what it was going to be like after having rotator cuff surgery!!! I thought that I would just have the surgery on Friday, take Monday off, and go back to work on Tuesday......my surgeon even said that I would be able to do that! And I'm not a wuss. When I had my hysterectomy, I had it on a Friday, and was up and able by Monday. Alas, it was just not meant to be.

Re: Leatherheads
You all probably already know this, and it might be in the thread -- which I haven't read entirely -- but the original script got bounced around Hollywood for more than a couple of years without making much headway. Then George got a hold of it, liked the concept, attached himself, and rewrote it from a light drama into a comedy.
He didn't get writing credit for it, though, which led him to change his membership status with the Writers Guild.

Re: Leatherheads
Yea some brouhaha about that at the time.
I've never seen this film nor Confessions and probably never will.
Subject doesn't interest me and Confessions being about Chuck Barris DEFINITELY doesn't interest me so I know not to waste my time on it.

Re: Leatherheads
WWHS - Thanks. I had forgotten that interview. Nice to hear him discussing his take on his career so objectively. I think you're right. This is closer to the "real" George than we usually get.
