Re: Media company for Nespresso promotional film November 30 2015
I watched this youtube video twice.
For me it was just hectical, a sequence of very different scenes that all seem to deal with coffee.
Maybe I'm not really awake. Might be different to rewatch it this afternoon...

It seems like an advertising vehicle for this company's many ventures. Nespresso being one of them. I'm not sure the entire video is showcasing Nespresso. If that is the case I don't get where the scientific research and medical references comes into play??? Is Omega featured here too?

by the way... for all of us concerned about the planet.... those little gizmos packets that contain the coffee are not biodegradable. That goes for pretty much all of them.

Re: Media company for Nespresso promotional film November 30 2015
I just rewatched the video and stopped to have a look at the watches in there. It's not Omega, it's another Swiss company that produces expensive watches, it's called 'F.P. Journe' from Geneva. I then googled 'Aftermedia Production', it's a Swiss company which seems to produce image films, Nespresso is one of their clients.
I didn't understand all of it because it's just in French. When I look on websites of Swiss companies it's usually multi-lingual since Switzerland has four languages (French, Italian, German and Rhaeto-Romance) and also English. So I guess it's about all sorts of campaigns they do or did. That would also explain all the food shown in this video as well.

Pigpen,
I know that the capsulas are mostly made of aluminium. That's why we decided to buy a machine with a different system (pads instead of capsulas) because the pads are biodegradable. And the coffee is okay as well. Sorry, George!

stateside, they are not aluminum, but rather a weird type of plastic feeling material.

I loved this film..clever because it managed to showcase all their accounts in one short space of time. Which is exactly how tv ads are made now with a maximum of one image per two seconds. That, according to research, creates more sales just through impact.
But also shortens our brains' concentration span, hence not a great idea for kids to sit in front of.

I thought that there are recycling programs for used capsules. Doesn't Nespresso have drop-off sites where you can bring your used capsules? I don't have a Nespresso machine so I don't know details. If they don't can't you combine them with aluminum that we already recycle, like soda cans? Like PAN mentioned.

Yep, you can, Donnamarie, but I guess it depends on your local recycling amenities. We've ended up in the UK with at least three super discreet bins (not! big things in brown blue and green)
Just checked the Nespresso packaging for the aluminium capsules and the symbols say they are recycleable. So choose your bin/bag/whatever!

aluminium is recyclable in Germany as well, sorry, I used a not-quite correcte term. And I guess we Germans are champions in waste separation
I wanted to say that we decided to buy a pad machine because pads (at least the ones our machine has) are biodegradable. So for us it just made more sense to avoid the aluminium or plastic or whatever.

Donna,
I just checked the Canadian Senseo website to find out how you might call it abroad. It's a coffee pod system in Canada which is as biodegradable as ground coffee you brew in a filter. I don't know if you've got something similar in the US.
I' sorry for using an unknown word. I just wish we wouldn't 'fabricate' a new word that sounds like a British / American word in German. We call them 'denglish' because they really seem to be English but aren't. The best one is 'handy' which us our word for mobile phone. Or now 'smart phone' instead of 'mobile phone''. Oh yes, and 'public viewing' for watching a football (soccer) match in public together, it was invented in Germany during the World Championships 2006. All these words have a total different meaning in your language or make no sense at all so I think we should either use the English word or find a German word for it.

Re: Media company for Nespresso promotional film November 30 2015
carolh, no need to apologize. I think I know what you're talking about. Pods I'm familiar with. It was the word "pad" that confused me.
I think Nespresso has recognized (environmentalists probably pointed it out to them along the way) the impact of these capsules as trash on the environment. In response it has started these recycling programs. Most important is getting the word out to users and having them follow through with proper recycling. The programs work only as well as people who are willing to participate.
I think here in the U.S. we tend to be a bit behind the curve when it comes to recycling. We do it but don't think it is standard practice in all communities in our country.
