Laila Ali made a very good point she said Amal is a very good lawyer and that  Amals celebrity came later which many people forget. If she were not a good lawyer they would not have gotten where they are. Her qualifications and professionalism have gotten them where they are.

That is an interesting interview. Though the interviewer was suggesting that perhaps this situation was getting a lot of publicity because of Amal's high profile I think it can only be a good thing that many more people will be made aware of the kind of human rights abuses that occur throughout the world. Usually we would not see many column inches on the subject in most newspapers.

totally agree with you. I mentioned in the thread about the british minister of justice. Amal's cases get more and more attention by the press - not only by the 'serious' press who always wrote about these issues, but also by papers and magazines that usually don't take any notice. So that's a very good thing.

I really loved this quote by Laila Ali!
Did you notice that Amal wanted to answer this question first - I guess she was going to say the usual "We are grateful for the attention etc." thing she said as well when she was asked in the interviews about Mohamed Fahmy. She was going to minimize her role IMO but Laila Ali made very clear that they wanted her knowledge and not her celebrity status...
