George Clooney Considering Backing Biden Over Hillary Clinton, Hollywood Sources Say
Actor once called Clinton ‘most polarizing figure in American politics’.

Actor George Clooney, a major Obama fundraiser, said he is seriously considering backing Joe Biden over Hillary Clinton in 2016.
According to The Hollywood Reportersources in the entertainment industry hub say Clooney is genuinely thinking about supporting the vice president if he jumps into the 2016 race for the Democratic nomination.
Clooney, who held a fundraiser for President Obama at his home in 2012 that netted $15 million for his reelection campaign, has spoken negatively about Hillary Clinton in the past. The actor reportedly labeled Clinton “the most polarizing figure in American politics” in 2006. Clooney ultimately endorsed Obama in 2008.
However, he told Fusion host Jorge Ramos earlier this year that he would support Clinton in 2016, months before rumors about a Biden candidacy began brewing.
The actor’s spokesman Stan Rosenfield did not respond to comment for the report published Tuesday.
The Hollywood Reporter story also noted that an anonymous entertainment industry fundraiser said that many Hollywood Democrats who supported Obama but who have now backed Clinton are “prepared to jump ship” and endorse the vice president.
“People in Hollywood have literally been begging Biden to enter the race,” the fundraiser, who recently met with Biden, disclosed. “Everyone seems wants him to run now. A lot of Obama people who went to Hillary initially are prepared to jump ship and go to Biden.”
Biden has won at least one big Hollywood endorsement. Jay Sures, the managing partner at United Talent Agency who has donated thousands to Democrats, enthusiastically backed Biden as someone who “really understands what the average American is going through.”
Meanwhile, unnamed Hollywood sources also said that Clinton allies in Los Angeles have had trouble selling tickets for her Sept. 27 fundraiser at the home of Rob Friedman, co-chairman of Lionsgate motion picture group, amid controversy surrounding her personal emails.

Re: George considering backing Biden over Hillary?
Silje - Most people here are having trouble finding anyone to support. We have over a year to go until the election and none of the candidates, in either party, seems even remotely "presidential". George is hardly the only one seeking a candidate to vote for.

All the democrats in Hollywood will get on board with whoever the nominee is once the nominee is chosen. What other choice do they have? None.

Who decides which of the democratic candidates will be up against the republican candidate?
I'm not familiar with the US election system, just remember what I saw in The Ides Of March?

Re: George considering backing Biden over Hillary?
It's decided by the vote of delegates at a convention. However, their choice may be already clear based on primary elections (polls of voters in various states) or caucus winners (some states have mini conventions instead of primary voting)

Thanks fava,
that's exactly what I remembered from The Ides Of March, that it's an inconsistant system in the states.

Re: George considering backing Biden over Hillary?
carolhathaway - It really isn't so inconsistent. It seems like a mess right now because both parties are in the process of choosing a candidate. Anyone can run, and if they belong to one of the major parties (Republican or Democrat) they are trying to convince the members of their party to make them the candidate in the election. That's why there are debates where all the hopeful candidates are supposed to state what they believe and why they should be their party's choice.
Later in the year each major party will hold a "primary" election to choose a candidate to run against the candidate from the other party. Then in November of 2016 there will be a general election where everyone gets to vote for whomever they want to be president.
It probably sounds more complicated than it really is.

Lizzy,
but don't you all get fed up until it's really election time? I mean, ir's such a long and tiring process...
And it just seems to burn so much money...

Re: George considering backing Biden over Hillary?
Absolutely! Which is probably why so many people just tune out the whole thing. The money part of it is a whole other issue which most people feel needs to be seriously addressed. Too many good people can't afford to run for office - and the people who can afford it are often people you wouldn't want to elect to any office, especially not President! (For example, Donald Trump.)

Re: George considering backing Biden over Hillary?
Lizzy,
I read some articles and watched some clips on youtube on Trump and just thought: "Please, not him!"
Sorry if I should hurt somebody here but I just don't like people who only tell others what they want to hear and just have slogans but no program.
In Europe we are just realizing which impact every decision - political or economical - has on the rest of the world. We are 'overrun' by refugees from Africa and the Middle East and even by people from the poor countries in Eastern Europe.
So every politician should be aware of this as well I think.
And it doesn't help to criminalize a whole country, it doesn't help to build walls and fences to stop refugees...
