Host with the most! Smiling George Clooney welcomes Edward Norton and family to his Lake Como villa
It was claimed recently that George Clooney is considering selling his Lake Como holiday home and if he he does half of Hollywood will be disappointed.
The 54-year-old heartthrob regularly entertains his famous friends at his stunning Italian abode and on Monday, Edward Norton and his family were the latest visitors to the estate.
Edward, 45, and his film producer wife Shauna Robertson, along with their two-year-old son Atlas were greeted by the actor as they became the latest people to experience the Clooney holiday charm.

Welcome! George Clooney welcomed Edward Norton and family to his Lake Como holiday home in Italy on Monday
Earlier this year George and his wife Amal, who was not spotted on Monday, welcomed Julia Roberts and her family to their Italian getaway, while stars including John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber and Jennifer Aniston have all visited.
George kept it cool and casual in jeans and a white shirt while Edward was equally dressed down in a green T-shirt.

Family trip: Edward and his beautiful wife Shauna Robertson, along with their two-year-old son Atlas, made the trip to Italy
His lovely wife opted for a black dress and carried Atlas in her arms.
George appeared to be in high spirits, laughing and joking as he welcomed the family.
Later George was wearing his ever-present T-shirt emblazoned with the logo for his liquor company Casamigos tequila.

Tanned: It's clear George has been enjoying a summer break, he was sporting a deep tan
The star has revealed in the past that he likes to wear it when the paparazzi are photographing him so that he can get free publicity for the company he founded with pal Gerber.
And Edward changed into a casual white shirt as they took a spin on a water taxi.
It was recently reported that Clooney might sell his Lake Como estate at the end of the summer.
Sources told Page Six George is thinking of accepting an offer of as much as $100 million for his lakeside, 18th-century Villa Oleandra, which he bought from the Heinz family in 2002, reportedly for around $10 million.

The star is hugely popular in the northern Italy area but he is said to hate the attention that comes with it.
A source told the publication: 'George loves the area and the people who live there, but is conscious of the attention he gets when he is in town.
George and Amal, who is an international lawyer and human rights activist, met at a charity fundraiser in September 2013. He allegedly popped the question the following April as the pair enjoyed a romantic meal together at his home.

Two threads on the same topic and "Little Nicky" has been AWOL for awhile.
So how does G know Edvard Norton? They have never worked together have they?
Maybee he is thinking about him for a future film project like Hack Attack?

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
I think George knows just about everyone in Hollywood. They have probably crossed paths at many award shows and other functions. Both Edward and George were in Wes Anderson movies. I don't follow Edward Norton that much. Maybe someone else here has more insight.
Another munchkin at the villa. Lots of kiddies there this summer. And George still has the goatee.

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
Edward Norton had a time as The Next Big Thing, but he lost favor with his on-set behavior. Very arrogant, it was said. He also thinks he is a writer. He rewrote huge parts of Salma Hayek's 'Frida' (they were a couple at the time) but was refused WGA credit, and he rewrote some of the 'Hulk' movie he was in. The problem is, he had a habit of rewriting scenes and even screenplays when nobody asked him to. He pissed off quite a few writers and directors, and his star fell.
I think the experience humbled him a bit. He seems more mellowed out these days.
Wonder what he and George have cooking together. Doesn't necessarily have to be a movie project...

Massive philanthropist, Donnamarie. Started Crowdrise and heavily involved in a Maasi Conservation Trust ........
When I read that he was in the restaurant with George and Amal where they celebrated their engagement I remember wondering about that connection.....
Think he's at the Locarno Film Festival tonight just up the road from Lake Como.............

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
Yea the Graco logo looks very familiar!
Thanks Way2 and PAN for filling in some blanks.
I had heard Norton could be somewhat difficult to work with. Had no idea he was into writing that much. If he has mellowed that's good. I can't see George using him in one of his movies unless he was easy to work with. George wouldn't take that kind of BS.
But this get together could be totally social.

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
They guy has been nominated for a few Oscars. And good actors can be a bit excentric at times.
And good directors and producers choose the right actor for the role as long as they get the job done.
How far has Hack Attack come along? G has someone writing the script right? What kind of roles would there be in that script? I can see Norton as a dirty journalist....

Love Ed Norton's work, so I really hope he and George are going to work on something together. If it's Hack Attack, he can certainly do a good British accent, he's done it in other movies before.

........mm, i was wondering about Hack Attack. It depends if it's been written in the first person.
in which case, he could make a very good Nick Davies..........
On the other hand it could be it's a social visit as he's at the fiilm festival. His wife's a producer too I think

Edward Norton is such a talented actor and if he and George could work together...that would be a dream come true for me.
He is one of my favorite actors other than George out there.
It's great to see George being a friendly host there welcome the guests.

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
Seems Norton is getting the Excellence Award tonight at the opening of the Lorcano Festival just over the border in Switzerland. Then there will be a retrospective of his films.
Also he has been working on an HBO film "Lewis and Clark". But filming has been suspended because they have to replace the Director. Seems there were creative differences but the article didn't get into specifics. No indication that it had anything to do with Norton. But Norton and this director wrote this story. It's also being produced by Brad Pitt and Tom Hanks.

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
At the risk of turning this into an Edward Norton thread...
Things have to be pretty bad for a director to leave a high-profile project that s/he co-wrote. I have no idea what the "creative differences" were, but the director of photography left too, so there is obviously a huge rift in the vision that the creators have/had for this mini-series.

Norton is one of the producer along with Pitt and Hanks and a bunch of other people. Norton is also one of the writers. Casey Affleck is playing one of the main characters. It seems like they are looking for a new director. Could this be a job for G? He hasn't got anything lined up has he?

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
According to IMDB George has a lot of projects on his plate. Maybe not many of them actually in the works but would think a few are. And we don't know exactly where Hack Attack is right now. A screenplay is in the works but we don't know if it had even bee completed. I think George already has much to keep him busy.

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
George has a deal with Sony Pictures Television. I don't know if Sony produces properties to be shown on HBO, but I doubt it, and I don't know if the Smokehouse deal is for a set number of produced projects or just 'first look,' but I kind of doubt George would be taking on an HBO mini-series. As always, I might be dead wrong.

Way2 isn't he doing an HBO film on Gloria Steinem? With Marisa Tomei. Sorry I bet I misspelled both actresses names but I don't have time to check spelling.

Re: George welcoming Edward Norton and family to Villa d'Oleandra
Oh, yeah, I forgot about that one. He's producing; don't think he's directing, but I don't know. I think it's a Smokehouse/HBO production and not a part of the Sony deal, so obviously there's no exclusivity clause.
So, maybe he could be involved in 'Lewis and Clark'...

So the pics with George in his blue shorts are the Nortons leaving, right? Since they're carrying the playpen back to the boat? Must not have stayed very long, maybe just an overnight visit.

Mm, well I thought that they'd arrived on Sunday or Monday (one piece dated it as that) and then left for Locarno for the evening of the 5th, hence the delay in releasing the pix.
