From neighbors to roomies...sort of!
George Clooney and Rande Gerber, longtime friends and co-owners of Casamigos Tequila who own adjacent vacation homes in Cabo, Mexico, have decided to sell one of the homes and split the other, time-share style, sources tell ET.
Clooney, who is currently building a home in London, where wife Amal works as a lawyer and activist, is putting his home on the market and will share a mansion with Gerber and his wife, Cindy Crawford.
"When George was single and living a wilder lifestyle, having that big house for all his parties made sense," a source tells ET. "But now he’s settled down with Amal – those days are behind him."

The Cabo houses are said to be architectural masterpieces, custom-designed for the stars by world famous architect Ricardo Legoretta. They were the final two homes Legoretta designed before he passed away, and have recently been featured on the cover of Architectural Digest.
While Clooney’s home hasn’t been listed yet, the actor and director likely won’t have a hard time finding someone to meet his asking price. Real estate experts say each house, which sits in a private gated compound with 180-degree views of the sea of Cortez, should fetch in excess of $50 million dollars each. Each home has 7 bedrooms, 10 bathrooms, private screening rooms, massive swimming pools facing the beach, cabanas, indoor and outdoor dining areas, a bar area, separate kitchens and quarters for staff, among other luxuries.

I will believe it when it is confirmed, time share makes no sense both families are there for new year with guests it would be crowded. Why sell when he could simply rent it out when he is not using it.

The reason given by the "source" just doesn't make sense to me. Rather than wild parties George has had many close friends and family in his Cabo home. Yes and gfs. And I would think that would continue in the future. Well not his gfs. LOL

There is a pass through that connects both homes. If he were to sell his home that would have to be taken out. The houses are fairly close together.

Unless George is hurting for cash I'm just not convinced that he's selling. He will still spend time in his LA home and Cabo is a nice weekend getaway for him and Amal.

This is confusing. Will George and Amal move in with Cindy and Rande whenever they're in Cabo, or will they stay in George's half of the complex as their part of a time share?

It makes sense to me to time-share George's half of the place. He doesn't have to sell it - just turn it into an investment property. He can reserve it for himself for whenever he wants it, and share it out the rest of the time - to people they know and like. Since he really only brings family and friends there for the New Year's holidays he might as well put the house to use the rest of the time - and maybe make some money from it.

I don't see what being married has to do with anything. George likes to vacation in Cabo. That's why he built a house there. That's why he brings his family and friends there. Would he still be able to to that if he's staying with the Gerbers? They might enjoy hosting G&A, but probably not the family and friends he might want to invite. No matter how good friends you are, you're still a guest in someone else's home and that's a whole different vibe from staying in your own place. If I were him I wouldn't sell.

Donnamarie the sources are having a field day none of these supposed sales make any sense, if he was annoyed he would have sold the houses earlier in the year. Why be in Como if he so bothered.

I don't believe he is selling either I think Amal and Cindy like each other but sharing a house , makes no sense . The both have families and friends seven bedrooms is not going to be enough especially at new years.

Yeah I really hope it's not true. The time of the year that they always seems to gather with their families is at Christmas and New Year....most of the time during Thanksgiving too.

Cindy's sisters and their families always join them for Christmas. So do some of their children's friends. George has his parents over for Christmas, usually Ben Weiss and wife are also with them. There's no way all these ppl could be cramming together in 7 rooms - wouldn't make for a very fun holiday for anybody.

Unless they really mean to timeshare the property, meaning they aren't gonna holiday together anymore.

I don't understand the logic behind selling the house unless they're hurting for money - which I seriously doubt.

LizzyNY - I meant if they really mean to timeshare the other property meaning Cindy and Rande's home, so they would holiday there at different times and never together.
