Bet her husband's around - or not far behind........

Wish I could see more of Amal's skirt.  Looks like it has a contrasting color band at the hip.  Nice professional look.  She looks lovely.  

The guy with Amal is presumably her driver?  We've seen him before haven't we?

I think so, Donnamarie. I think he's their man in London. Last seen wearing a Marie Curie Cancer Care button.

Looks more like the top of a folder extending from her bag.

PigPen - in the third picture you can see more of her skirt and it looks like a wide band of black and another color across her hip.  

PAN - I think that's where I remember seeing him. Walking with her on the street in London in the long black sleeveless sweater in the spring.  I think 

Actually after going back and looking at the picture of Amal last month the guy with her is bald.  Not the guy in these pics.  Oh well.  He does look familiar.  "Their man in London".  Ahhh.

Really nice and elegant outfit. This is a style that suits her.

But look at the veins on her arms, hands,legs and feet. She is skinnier then ever.

Good to see she's logging some actual office time (assuming). 

She looks appropriate. "Stuns" is much to strong a word in this case.

Og, my God, this woman has the feet and legs of a woman in his sixties!

I noticed - I giggled! 

When I look at the photos, I often wonder "why carry a tote, if you don't use it for your paperwork and files?" When I carry a tote (or briefcase) to work, it's usually for that purpose. She looks a bit awkward with the tote at the crook of her arm, the files hugged against her body, and the jacket over her arm.

I agree...it's good to see that she is checking in "at the office"- before the Summer hiatus in Lake Como.

There are files in her tote, you can see them sticking out of her bag clearly. And there's probably plenty of other stuff in there that we can't see.

I carry a tote all the time too. And it's full of stuff that I feel I need with me, not necessarily files and paperwork all the time....but it's got my life in there lol. And I still end up carrying other stuff in my arms sometimes. I don't find it awkward, it just happens in the day to day hustle. Lol

The tote is also her handbag. She obviously has her handbag contents in there and what looks like an iPad sticking out of her bag. So she is carrying the overflow of papers and notebook in her arm.  And she is simply going to the car from the office. Doesn't seem unusual to me. 

Since Amal can work wherever she is (and she probably does quite a bit of writing) I suspect she will be doing work in Como.  We are just not privy to when she is working and when she's on "down" time.  But she must be looking forward to summer on Lake Como.  Chilled wine, sunsets and George.  Who could ask for more IMO.

She does not have to be in an office to work , she is dressed and carrying her bag with her work which she usually does.

I wonder if it's a uniquely American concept that one must be chained to a desk for 60 hours a week to be considered busy and successful? Europeans, at least, seem to be much more chill about maintaining a balance between work and life. I'd much rather read boring legal briefs and make phone calls with a glass of wine on the edge of Lake Como than in a stuffy office. Can't hate her for making that choice.

I'd imagine some types of working life can be managed
quite well out of the office now, by the use of all 
the modern technology available.

As for Amal carrying both tote bag and paperwork,
two things come to mind.
1. She is travelling by car, door to door, and may want to read some papers on the way.
2. I've seen Barristers going to court absolutely 
laden down with files, so it's quite the norm here
in UK.

Yep, Missa. People seem to forget that as a barrister she doesn't have a boss in an office as such. It's more usually a government who's a client or say, United Nations. Many of her cases have been instructed by the UN

Yep, Jo - and sometimes they have an entire suitcase on wheels-full. And in places like the Old Bailey, and al other UK courts, new evidence is always in hard copy form as well as email

I've been an independent contractor/consultant/freelancer for the bulk of my working life, so I understand very well the options Amal has (which are exponentially better than any of mine). But if I were representing clients of such importance that their cases are followed on an international scale, I would probably "chill" in a much more low-key way than being photographed in designer clothes and hobnobbing with celebrities on what seems like at least a weekly basis. And if I were the client, I think I'd like to see my lawyer at least look like she was putting in the hours on my behalf rather than being occupied with her celebrity.

None of which, believe it or not, is an indictment of Amal. Just a recognition of the perception.

That is the public's perception of her as in celebrity status......whereas I suspect she's simply conducting herself as she always has done.

We're not all wondering what Ben Emmerson's wearing today, are we? Or even Cherie Blair? Or whether they're on a beach, or in a restaurant? Just a thought.

The other thing that we don't know, of course, is how many of these celebrities have been her clients or sought her advice in the past........

That's kind of my point. She's in a position, for good or bad, where perception counts more than for some others. So she might have to work harder at making people not have those questions about her, if that makes any sense.

I'd think that her clients probably have a better idea of how she's spending her time than we do, since they are really the only ones to whom she has to account for her time. Since we haven't heard of clients who are unhappy with her representation or jumping ship, I'd guess they're perfectly fine with the work she's doing.

I believe that since the Tomorrowland takes Asia press tour, we've seen her in public at the U2 concert and in this photo op, clearly coming from or going to a business-related meeting. It's possible she's been in her office every day in between. Even in New York, we only saw her a handful of times that weren't on her way to Columbia/dressed for work. Should she skip dinner with her husband and his friends/work colleagues because those people happen to be famous? Or miss out on visiting him at work because his office happens to be a movie set? That seems unfair.

I probably should have skipped posting today. Having one of those yeah-but-what-I-meant-was days.
