Dont know suppose it to be held some theater in LA, as I know at least that Times blogger lives in LA.
But Brad Bird is attending an event today in San Francisco as he lives there.

Normally the director would be at the screening or did they just let George host that?

Depending on the event screenings could have some of the actors and crew (director / writer ) etc. at the event.
