So far i had no problem today.
Maybe it is the Internet browser you use Lizzy. Maybe the Internet browser has some errors. Try a different browser for few hours.
Or you have another window open which interfers with the COH site. This happen to me before too

I've had the 'timed out' error message several times today when trying to post a reply, but the font size looks fine.

Re: January 2015 Chit Chat
oh the time out error. That sucks. I had that a week ago or so and I could not copy or past or split threads it always gave me the "time out" error. when I wanted to reply to a post I had to copy my answer what I have written first, then post, then the "time out" error appeared, and then I paste again my answer and then posted.
Not sure what makes the "time out" error coming up... It was new to me.
Maybe by the next update it will be fixed

(hope no one scared by some detailed images)
See marvelously detailed images of the body taken by new CT scanner
An image of a chest cavity taken from the GE Revolution CT scanner. GE Healthcare
Images captured by a new type of CT scanner are something to behold.
GE's Revolution CT creates immensely detailed images of the beating heart and other organs, including bones, that could replace a barrage of tests previously required for a diagnosis.
It can, for example, capture very accurate 4D images to help doctors visualize vascular flow and organ motion. The device can also take incredibly high-resolution images of blood vessels, soft tissue, organs and bones, while reducing radiation levels by as much as 82 percent. And it uses technology akin to a camera's image stabilizer to correct for patient movements during a scan, which helps doctors get a good look at organs that are otherwise difficult to capture on film.
Since the Revolution CT can capture full images much more quickly than traditional scanners -- it takes just 1 second to complete an image of the entire pelvis and abdomen, for instance -- patients spend less time in the scanner struggling to hold their breath and to keep still long enough to capture a decent image.
Originally announced in 2013, GE's Revolution CT scanner has been in patient trials at Florida's West Kendall Baptist Hospital since early 2014, and the hospital decided to purchase the device to use on its patients in September.
"The advanced design definitely makes for a less intimidating, more comfortable patient experience, while yielding amazingly accurate and detailed images," West Kendall Baptist Hospital CEO Javier Hernández-Lichtl said in a statement.
The machine was created by GE Healthcare and GE Global Research scientists and engineers, who worked with practicing physicians during the development process.
The company released several images taken from the Revolution CT in its GE Reports online magazine last week. We've posted a few of those here, but be sure to head to GE's page to see all the images that show just how marvelous and weird the human body is.

This site has some great reports…sciencedaily.com
Like this: Are the effects of pornography negligible ?
" A new study has been launched in Canada to examine the effects of pornography on men. "We started our research seeking men in their twenties who had never consumed pornography. We couldn't find any," says the researcher. "
Uups, how did they convey the study then ?

Re: January 2015 Chit Chat
This storm is going to be a mess, but we've had plenty of warning so there's no excuse for any major transit or roadway snafus - although they'll probably happen anyway. To anyone out there who has to travel, be extra careful - stay indoors if you can and keep warm and dry. And if you're one of those people who feeds the birds and local strays, don't forget about them.
Donnamarie - I'd be more than happy to send you my share of the snow, but somehow I don't think you'd thank me for it.

Re: January 2015 Chit Chat
Liz, we could have Donnamarie come up and lend a hand with the shovel. My daughter, God Bless Her, has been shoveling since yesterday afternoon, trying to keep up with it. This morning she's been out for half hour now and God Bless my neighbor who helped plow driveway with his snowblower. Daughter started on rear steps, got them cleared off and 15 minutes later they were already covered with at least 1 inch. It's definitely gonna be a good one.

Pattygirl - I hear ya! The talking heads on tv seem to think the snow is pretty much over, but when I look out my window it's still coming down pretty hard. I'm guessing we'll get another 2-3 inches by the time it finally stops.
Tell your wonderful daughter to be careful shoveling and make her a nice cup of hot chocolate for all her hard work.

She is truly wonderful. Just moved back to NY after 23 yrs. in NM "to take care of me". Some intro back, huh!
Last time she had to do this much shoveling, she shared the chore with 4 of her siblings. While they get snow in NM, where she was it disappeared rather rapidly.
I'm truly blessed with her company, her ready smiles and her generosity of spirit.

pattygirl you're lucky to have such a wonderful daughter! Sounds like she's got her work cut out for her today. Tell her to take it easy though. Shovelling snow can take a toll on your body. I would LOVE to take some of that snow off your hands. We only got an inch last night. Hope you have power. It sounds like so far not as many power outages as predicted.

Re: January 2015 Chit Chat
Guess what! Snow has stopped. Hope that's the end of it. I'm watching out - she's doing about a half hour at a time. Only complaint from her - it's warm work. Fortunately, we rarely lose power. Last time was Hurricane Sandy - that was a doozy.
Admit it though, when DC gets hit, they really get hit. Seen some of those on TV.
I used to like the snow, but too old now. Can't navigate it too well. Afraid of falling (don't want any more broken bones and hospital stays).
Glad it ended before they promised it would.

Well girls, we got only about 8 inches. We were lucky. Out on Long Island, they got between 13 and 24 inches. We were lucky that the "low" moved a bit to the east, or we would have really been dumped on. Of course, we'll be having snow for a while because the temperatures are pretty cold right now, and will be frigid this weekend. All in all, we made out just fine.
Jo, I use a wooden ruler, not tape. It's good up to 18 inches.

Oyelowo supports Cumberbatch over 'coloured' comment
Press Association 14 hrs ago SNAP.PA
Selma star David Oyelowo has voiced his support for fellow
British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who came under criticism
for using the term “coloured” in an interview.
David, who plays Martin Luther King Jr in Selma,
said at the film’s European premiere in London that people
should focus on what the Sherlock star was saying –
rather than the terminology he used.
Discussing diversity in the entertainment industry,
Benedict said last week on a TV show that “as far as coloured actors go,”
there were more opportunities in the US than Britain.
“
The actor later said sorry for his “thoughtless use of inappropriate language”. He said he was “devastated to have caused offence by using this outmoded terminology”.
David defended Benedict when asked about the comment.
“In relation to Benedict it’s definitely gone too far in terms of political correctness,” said the actor.
“He was actually being very supportive of the likes of me, and other black actors and actresses – we do have greater opportunities in the US in relation to the UK.
“We use the term ‘people of colour’ in America. Is that immensely different to what he said? I don’t think so, just focus on what he was trying to say.”
Directed by Ava DuVernay, Selma follows the movement that led to the historic civil rights march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, and the subsequent passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act.
The movie was nominated for best picture at the Academy Awards. But the fact it was snubbed in other top categories has led to a debate on diversity in the entertainment industry.

Re: January 2015 Chit Chat
You heard about it in Germany?????????????????? Got well over 2 feet of snow. Two towns over, they got 3 feet of snow. More snow tomorrow ( not much) and more again on Monday. Homes on the coast line were destroyed. One gentleman living on the coast line was trying to secure a picture window when the waves broke over the rock wall, came crashing through the house- the window hit him in the face. Multiple facial sutures. We've had more snow than this, but wind was up to 75 miles per hour.Nicky80 wrote:I hope you are all safe. Heard in the news that this will be a crazy storm.
