Before marrying George Clooney, Amal Alamuddin is taking time to toast with female friends and family. 

The bride-to-be arrived via water taxi on Friday night to the Aman Canal Grande resort in Venice. 

Stunning in a long red-and-black gown, the British international attorney, 36, was joined by a group of about 14 women including her sister, Tala, mom, Baria and fellow London-based lawyer Philippa Webb. 

With much of Venice whipped into a wedding frenzy, Alamuddin's arrival was met with some 30 boats clogging the Grand Canal. The traffic was so high that a second boat – this one carrying groom-to-be Clooney and his guy friends – was forced to maneuver to a side canal before departing for a nearby party of their own.

The luxurious Aman appeared to be well-prepared for a glamorous night, with outdoor lanterns and candles filling the first floor.

The mail says it's the rehearsal dinner all their family and friends were there. So this is the first party that was talked about.

I know there will be those who don't like the public showing. But this is what I hoped for not a lot of hiding them just enjoying themselves for their wedding.

The boys went off in one boat , the girls in another, and the guests in more. Maybe after rehearsal dinner the they all separated

NEWS/ Amal Alamuddin Has Ladies Night While George Clooney Grabs Dinner With the Guys Ahead of Venice Wedding
The big wedding countdown continues.
As part of their big wedding festivities, Amal Alamuddin and George Clooney were spotted celebrating their respective bachelorette and bachelor parties in Italy tonight, E! News learns. The bride-to-be donned a gorgeous red gown as she arrived in a boat with about 10 of her nearest and dearest gal-pals, including her sister, Tala, mom, Baria and fellow London-based lawyer Philippa Webb.
The ladies were accompanied by a second boat that had Clooney and his guys also riding to the Aman Canal Grande. Once the two groups arrived to their destination, "George escorted Amal down there then left," an eyewitness tells us.
It doesn't look like their last flings before the rings are going to be too crazy. A source tells us the actor and his fellas continued to Da Ivo restaurant for dinner, while his lady and her female friends enjoyed dinner elsewhere.
After tonight, the pair will prepare for the big day! A source says the bride will get her makeup and hair done in the morning at the Aman, where Clooney and guests will join her. Alamuddin and Clooney will have a symbolic wedding ceremony that night, which will likely be performed by former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni.
Festivities will continue on Sunday, when the newlyweds will have lunch with their guests, a source tells E! News, followed by another party. On Monday, Clooney and Alamuddin will wrap up their wedding weekend fun with a civil ceremony, at which point they will officially and legally be man and wife.

I can't be cynical or critical of any of this today. G&A look like they are having the best time. George makes a party wherever he goes. I'd love to just hang with the guys tonight. What fun!

Amal does not look so terribly upset that the "date of the wedding was found out".

Just a thought were we fed GARBAGE.

They certainly are loving all the attention especially Amal and her mother, they are acting like royalty.  She wouldn't have gotten this much publicity if she were marrying a KING or a PRINCE.

I love the dress it is beautiful and red is a colour that suits Amal. However the dress is too short in the front which becomes apparent when she climbs into the boat. All it would have taken was a few more inches of fabric and she would have looked sexy and classy.

George is a "leg man" after all, according to him. Maybe she was giving him a thrill.

But I would never wear a short skirt in public for George. Maybee that is why I am not marrying him. Oh and  I don't have the big hair either, and I could never starve myself that thin (like food too much and wine.) and I am too old for him (being his age he would rather float into space).

Just an observation....  what a change from the rather reserved woman exiting the NY hotel after the safari, to the woman waving to the press.   Many moons ago, there was a rumor/story that George wanted Cindy-type wife.  Looks like he's got her!

Are we sure she wasn't waving to the boys in the boat? According to one of the reports, he was shouting advice to her about maneuvering onto the boat in the choppy water, so the boys must have been outside the hotel as the girls boarded.

There's a pic on Lysa Heslov's Instagram of her dressed up and ready at her hotel suite, in a cream dress with black lace/print...not sure if that's for the pre-wedding/rehearsal night or actual ceremony today - i'm confused by the time difference.

  Richard Kind and his wife are still together i hope? He arrived alone. Wonder why he wasn't with The Boys on the boat...maybe just jetlagged and needed sleep..

   I thought Ben's wife is pregnant?? Based on the summer pics from Como. But from the back shot of them on the taxi-boat, she looked slim.

   She reminds me vaguely of that very beautiful widow of the journalist who was beheaded by terrorists in Pakistan many years ago..the one whose character was played by Angelina Jolie. But i doubt it's her.

She does look good, earlier in the day too.  Does not seem at all uncomfortable with the attention--even enjoying it.  Not sure we have seen this side of her before.

She seems to wear dresses lately that are loose in the front. I still have a feeling that she is newly pregnant. Look at her stomach in the profile of her in the dress. Could just be the cut of all the dresses she has worn lately too.

I may be wrong but I don't think she is pregnant. She has a lot of cases to handle don't think she would risk not being able to do her job. I also think she was waving to the boys in the boat. She and her mother have worked to plan this event I am glad to see them enjoying it. The bride should enjoy every moment as the wedding will be over rather quickly.
