Man Detained for Allegedly Attacking Brad Pitt at Maleficent Premiere

A man was in police custody Wednesday night after allegedly attacking actor Brad Pitt at the Hollywood premiere of Angelina Jolie’s new film “Maleficent.”
Pitt and Jolie were signing autographs outside the El Capitan Theatre when a man jumped over the barriers and struck the actor in the face, according to Sgt. Leonard Calderon with the Los Angeles Police Department.
Private security guards detained the man until LAPD officers could take him into custody, Calderon said.
He was taken to the LAPD’s Hollywood station for questioning.
He was expected to be arrested and booked on suspicion of misdemeanor battery, according to Calderon.
After the attack, Pitt and Jolie continued walking the blue carpet appearing unfazed by the incident.

Isn't this the same guy that Will Smith slapped for trying to kiss him, also at a red carpet event? And who tried to crawl under the gown of an actress at another? How the hell does security allow him anywhere near the actors?

Brad Pitt was the target of a crazed man who jumped a barrier and made contact with the actor while he walked a red carpet -- and TMZ has learned the LAPD currently has the man in custody.
Pitt was at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood for the premiere of wife Angelina Jolie's new Disney flick "Maleficent" ... when a man suddenly jumped the fence and ran up to the actor while he was walking down the red carpet.
We're told the man actually made contact with Pitt's face before being nabbed by cops. It's unclear what the man's intentions were.
Law enforcement sources tell us the man is currently being detained by LAPD -- and will be booked for misdemeanor battery.

9:45 PM PT -- The whacked out fan turned out to be the moron Ukranian reporter, Vitalii Sediuk, who also got slapped for trying to kiss Will Smith, was arrested after he crashed the Grammy's, and once got a face full of Leonardo DiCaprio's crotch.

It's quite worrying though that someone can get that close.
Knives, sprays, a small gun even, could have been used.
These could all be a "dry run" preparation for a real attack on someone.
Since John Lennon, anything could be in

Yes, it is scary. Makes me wonder about George's safety on the red carpet sometimes. I know that he always has his security right next to him (hello Gio!) but can they react fast enough to a threat?
