Finally Saw Gravity Empty Finally Saw Gravity

Post by LornaDoone Sat 10 May 2014, 21:34

And all I can say is I am SO glad I didn't see this in the theater. Probably would have tossed my cookies.

And I probably would have had a panic attack. I also felt claustrophobic watching the film. I'm still feeling nervous from it.

I guess that's a good thing and what the filmmakers were going for.

If I had been Sandra's character that would have terrified me. To be alone like that in space not knowing if I would survive myself.

Just an awful feeling!

@ Lorna & Theminis - Hope you're feeling better. Smile  Vertigo and claustrophobia aside, what did you think of the movie?

Loved it Lizzy - I love all space movies, the fact that you can get to see the earth from a different perspective is mind blowing. I think I said it elsewhere that when George re-appears it felt a bit cheesy to me, other than that, amazing movie and I can see why it received so many accolades. My husband has watched it twice in a row but that could be due to Sandra Bullock running around in her underwear LOL

I saw it in an IMAX theater and expected it to be harder to watch than it was. Maybe it was the theater, but the 3D wasn't as extreme as I hoped. I want to see it again, but I'm not sure about seeing it on a regular tv. I'm afraid it wouldn't be as exciting.

It was a little cheesy when George popped up again, but it was nice to see him anyway.

Spoiler:

I didn't like how I felt watching the film. Like I said it made me panicky so I didn't really enjoy it.

Well it's been my personal No.1 film. I've watched it twice in IMAX and once in 3D. Then a few times on computer.

How was it watching it on computer? I'm afraid it wouldn't be as good as the theater experience.

The film was great on the special effects, why it won in that area. Sandra Bullock acted well. George and the other male astronaut who died off could have been written out of the story. The story was very simple though, mainly about handling the fear. If it did not have the special effects it would have been a bomb. Having the Clooney name with it along with Sandra was a draw. I think it even surprised Clooney it did so well. It clobbered Monuments Men for his bit role.

I think the audience for MM was much more limited than for Gravity, which appealed to almost every age group all over the world. MM is geared to a more adult audience and I would think its popularity would be greater in Europe and the US, which were more affected by the subject matter.

Yeah it wasn't as good. I just enjoy its spectacular view.
And I was literally in tears when I saw George's gone in the space! Sad
I wasn't spoiled so even though I felt it wasn't right when "Matt" came back, I just wished it could be the real case. Sad, sad,sad...when Sandra told "Matt" to bring messages to her daughter.
What I really enjoy about the film is the Chinese space station part. Funny details! For once, not the US saved the world! Very Happy Proud of our Shenzhou and Tiangong! cheers

@Sevens -  Very Happy  Very Happy  Glad the Chinese space station was there to save the day. And, for a second, I wished he had really come back, too. But I knew he couldn't. Yes, sad,sad,sad...

Do you think, at the end, she was really back on Earth? There are lots of other possibilities that people have come up with.

Lizzy, yeah I think she is on the earth.
Off the topic, George rarely "died" in his films, isn't it?
He "died" a few times but never in a bloody or nasty way. We never saw his body or such last breath thing. We cannot afford to. George died gracefully in films. He's such a gentleman.

Sorry Mel I can't find that kind of old film here and I can't watch it either without subtitles. No one made subtitles for that I guess.

He went into the boiler room and his bloody face smeared down the glass in the door. Really cool!!!

Thanks - thought it fitting for Mother's Day.
