Ladies, below is a petition regarding the injustice in sentencing a child rapist because he happens to be very very rich and an heir to the duPont  fortune.

Millionaire Robert H. Richards IV has been found guilty of raping his 3-year-old daughter after molesting his infant son for years — and been sentenced to probation because the rich, white child molester "will not fare well" in prison.

A serial child rapist shouldn't be given a wrist slap, especially when we can't imagine a poor, black man ever receiving the same "gracious" treatment from Judge Jan Jurden.

This is part of a horrific pattern of sentencing where wealthy people get off for violent crimes while the poor rot in prison for non-violent offenses, and we deserve to demand answers.

We call on the Delaware legislature to hold hearings on how Robert H. Richards IV avoided a single day of jail time.

A friend also sent me information regarding the above, couldn't believe what I was reading. Lets hope the petition works!!

This situation has me hopping mad...I've never seen such a miscarriage of justice; as if his son and daughter have no rights or expectations to safety from the very people who are SUPPOSED to protect them!

Next thing you know we'll be hearing the "affluenza" defense, every time some rich person gets arrested for ANY crime committed. They just let a habitual drunken teen go free with that defense right after KILLING 2 innocent people. The defense was that his parents didn't raise him with a strong moral compass and he thought whatever he did was A-OK because he was rich and they could pay to get him out of trouble, just like they've always done! So too bad for the two people who died and their families who are mourning but ya know...the rich kid didn't know any better!

Perhaps they should change the law and jail the parents, I mean if they are going to use the excuse that the parents did provide their child with a strong moral compass, then why not? Its such a shit situation. I mean what can you expect a teen to think if they have been raised with no responsibilities and the idea that if you f... up Mummy/Daddy will make it all go away - whose really to blame here, the teen or the parents. Tough one.

Oh I most definitely agree with you, the parents should be held accountable for their children's actions but once they turn 18, it's on them as a point of law and this teen was over the age of 18 at the time, I believe after his second DUI, which ended in the tragic deaths.  The first time, he only injured his girlfriend who was in the car with him while he was driving drunk but he has quite a complete file on misdemeanor charges he's committed while underage, which of course, all went away thanks to "papa's money"!

Thanks Maggy...I'm hoping they have an enormous participation and then the Delaware Legislature won't have anything to hide behind and will have to hold a hearing on this.

Here's another one but this petition is for the USA residents only.  It is from Senator Sherrod Brown (D-Oh) and it's regarding raising the federal minimum wage for ALL workers, including wait staff and valets who usually only get $2.13 per hour because they are supposed to depend on the kindness and generosity of strangers due to their bosses being too cheap to pay them a living wage.

I have signed the petition too (the first one) and shared it on FB.   

This is unbelievable that this guy is not in prison. I couldn't figure it out but is this case happening in the USA? Never expected that in this country. Crazy...

On the left side there is a box  "Sign the petition" and under that you can see how many have already signed 363 and after your registered you can see your vote too. Hope you mean that otherwise I have no clue what you are talking about

I live in the UK and signed

We have a "Rape Crisis" centre here, I will ask them to write an email to express concern, from my Country.  We all look up to U.S.A, and are so disappointed by this turn.

Don't despair WWHS...we're not going to take this sitting down!  We're going to keep fighting for the justice and peace that should be available to ALL people here in the US and many of us do as much as we can, to continue to help others who want to be free.  

That's what being an American is all about...the freedom and peace to live as you choose without oppression, no matter your background or station in life.  

If we don't stand for everyone's civil rights and protection under the law and defer instead to people's bank accounts, than we have NO real freedom and that kind of democracy is a joke!

It made the news in Australia though briefly - also signed - anyone who abuses the trust of innocent children should be held accountable regardless of who they are.
