Think With Your Head
It occurred to me today that being the woman in George Clooney's life is probably a lot more difficult than we like to believe. Many of us see him through rose colored glasses - he's so wonderful, life with him must be wonderful, too. But he really is just a man, and like all men he's got his good points and his faults - moods, temper, health problems, etc.. So, looking at it as realistically as you can, could you - would you - want to be the woman who shares his life on a daily basis? (And I don't mean as a way to get yourself public attention.)

Yeah I think I could take his mood swings whilst Im drinking a casamigos in Cabo?
I understand what you mean Lizzy, strip away all the exterior that we see and no doubt he probably has some annoying habits as we all do. Id still give it a chance though any day of the week (except Im married and cant but I can dream).

Re: Think With Your Head
Sandra Bullock said that although she loved him as a long time friend, George wasn't everyone's cup of tea.
I'd love to hear her expand on that, but she's loyal,
so I won't.

I'd love to...but I guess my father wouldn't agree as he's older than my father...and George wouldn't treat me seriously as a grilfriend.
If only I were ten years older...
Actually in my case due to the huge age difference I feel being a friend of his would be great!

Re: Think With Your Head
@theminis - Actually, I was thinking in broader terms than just time spent with him. I was wondering how long it would take before the public parts of his life began to wear thin - the constant travel, the media attention, the separations - and made the relationship harder to maintain - and maybe less desirable. And that's not even taking into account his personal "quirks".
Being with someone in a "normal" relationship is hard enough. Being in a relationship with him seems much more challenging.

@Lizzy, no doubt it would be challenging, I for one wouldn't like the constant scrutiny, media attention and yes the separations unless of course both parties are equally busy would more than likely becoming very frustrating. Also he seems to fairly regularly surround himself with many friends/family etc and though we have no way of really knowing, wondering just how much alone time you would get with George?? Id want a lot!

Re: Think With Your Head
@Theminis - Never even thought of that - the friends and family always around. When I was a kid our house was like Grand Central Station, with relatives and friends dropping by and visiting all the time. My mother practically never left the kitchen except to clean up after everyone left!
Maybe George wouldn't feel the need to have so many people around all the time if he was in a real relationship with someone whose company he enjoyed.

Re: Think With Your Head
Earlier today I posted regarding the bizarre behaviour in the vid of the double date thread.
Infact I stated if he had pulled that "stunt" on me in an effort to get me into the car & home, his teeth would be on the floor.
So if this is an example of day to day life, the only solution that would work for me is the 100% Wedded Bliss. I believe the only way, I would tolerate his behaviour and he would let me get away with socking him every now and then (without packing me away in the ex box) would be if at the end of the day I was The One.... then I could handle anything!
Lizzy, you must already know in life the unthinkable becomes the everyday, the norm very easily.
Give it a couple of weeks and you would be phoning Sandy (Bullock) with great website for kids, and asking Al (Pacino) for advice on your landscaping. That's just how life is.
G's public persona is just part of his work. The private George at home probably breaks wind like every other guy, just a bit more careful that he IS at home. (with someone who will slap his bum for doing it).

Re: Think With Your Head
Well then that would make a huge difference Maggy as I don't love George Clooney - Im merely imagining what it would be like to be by his side for awhile and Im sure it would be a total head spin to be immersed in his day to day life for a few months - it would be wonderful while it lasted.
Its a good question you posed Lizzy and I think a hard one to answer. I don't have any idea of what the real day to day George Clooney is like to be around, just a sense that it would be a lot of fun while the sun is shining, when its not, who knows? For all we know, he wakes up real grumpy everyday and needs 3 nespressos to turn into George Clooney LOL

Re: Think With Your Head
Here goes and let me have it.
Look George Clooney is 53..and has a number of injuries from what I have read and has some pain from them from time to time.
So he needs a partner who is attentive to him and would care for him in times of distress etc..
Now a woman doing a career would not be there for him...but as he has money I would assume she would give up her job for him.
You can say he has money and can pay for the care but its not the same as from a loved one...can never be!
If he was to have children with a younger wife...I can see big problems here...The woman would want his attention and need his help....He can pay? Yeah sure but this young wife wants to do it herself...problems.
Also a man with a younger wife(from my experience) has a woman who can hold shot gun to him...he is tired and working hard...has pain...gives in just to keep the peace.
Also from my experience younger women like older men for all the reasons we have discussed before.
I have seen Older guy/Younger girl Combos but the minute a similar hot match shows up of same age they are more compatiable. Think SK and JP.
Imo Younger women/Older men senarios work because of the cash involved.
For me he would have to take a ticket stand in line and goodluck...because I am probably not getting it!
Because regardsless of anything...he still has to win my love and heart...just like anyone else!!
Also it depends on what impresses you and what your values are!! iMo

Re: Think With Your Head
This could be very workable depending on the level of love and commitment on each other's part. If he loved me as I love him I could live what ever kind of life it takes. I would want to be with him all the time as far as where he is putting his head down at night.
I also would want to make sure he is taking care of himself when on the road. You would have to be able to be with him at these times and understand that he is not there to entertain you. It is your job to be there to assist him not hinder his productivity.
With George's many commitments the woman would not be able to have a career of her own and make it work. You cannot say that you will be there for him always you have to do it. Yes I would be able to except whatever life necessary to be with George, and love him more than myself.

@NewFan - How very cynical! Some of the best marriages I know are of younger women to older men. And money isn't the glue that keeps them together - it never was. They're together because they have great relationships.
Sure, if you're shallow and marrying for money you'll cheat the first chance you get. But not every young wife is so clueless or selfish. If there's even a hint of maturity she'd realize that sharing and compromise are part of any successful relationship - with or without money.

Look..i do come across like that but I am fairly straight.
Its just my opinions based on my life experiences...and I have seen these matchings and love does come into it later yes.
But given the ages...GC is 53 not 43..and the aging process and his health now must Imo be his focus...to really enjoy the rest of his days and keep fit.
Just saying with everthing and the demands of a young family may be way too much.
And wait till you get to the teenage years...70 and with teenagers Omg.
Look I want the best for him it will work now...but nothing is a saddening and the recovery from divorce at a later age...I would hate to see this for him.
New wife, New kids, New life, New Aging...its all too much...People George's age are now preparing to retire and enjoy there lives.

Would you all do that?
Would GC do that for you?
Give up his Career for his partner and follow her?

@NFF they may be your thoughts, I think next time just take more care with how you express them as Mazy expressing how deeply she feels is brave and I for one respect her point of view even if I don't necessarily agree with some of the points she made.

I cant see how what I have said was not nice.
I complimented Mazy said she sounded lovely.
I was refering to the information she provided on how she would see life with GC and how this would be to me if I would live the way she described.
Perhaps reflection and my words have hit home.
Look the world is made up of millions and millions of fans like us...to undervalue each person is a mistake...iMo because everone's life is valuable, not one more than the other. I am not into status'es

Quotes from Mazy.
GC is not there to entertain you!
You are there to assist him not hinder his productivity!
Please I need to leave if you all go with this type of talk...it sounds like an assistant...not a loving partnership!

NFF there is no need to call someone a doormat. That's what was offensive.
We do have rules in this forum one of them is no name calling.
There are many other ways to express a thought - perhaps if you paused for a second before hitting "submit" and re-read what you write you might see how something like that would sound offensive.
Sorry Lizzy named the thread. But you know maybe it's a good thought to keep in mind before posting.

Well the forum closing is news to me. This thing goes 24/7 there is no such thing as a time when NO ONE is posting or reading.
And yes I did understand the point you were making. I'm just stating that I've yet to see a "quiet time" here.
I've never come on this site and not had at the very least one or two registered users and always tons of guests on the forum.

That's not a relationship.
Clarifying my position yesterday and getting me out of the hotseat.
Mazy sounds so hopelessly in love...that I feel she could be used...that was my worry.
The words I used were indeed strong and intended to make her see perhaps she was a little one sided...and not her side but that's her choice.
I love the English language and tend to use dramatic words or phrases when I can to gather impact.
I realize now my error...that this thread was not a discussion merely to be a statement only.

Re: Think With Your Head
Ah now I see it looks like it got corrected....Ok thanks Lorna
Lizzy, yes back on topic sorry :-).....the downside for me would be probably his bachelor image. Knowing nobody would take me serious and just see me as another one in the chain...... If that makes sense...

Yep definitely agree with that Nicky, though if George took me serious then everyone else and their opinions could easily be forgotten

Hi, theminis! I agree with you and Nicky that being taken seriously would be a problem. How could you combat that? Unless you're someone with your own serious public persona, how could you deal with that perception? And, would it be something you could live with longterm?
PS - I was off topic myself, which is why I posed the new question.

additional thought
LizzyNY wrote:Just to bring this thread back to my original idea - What if anything, do you see as the downside to a relationship with George? I'm not talking about the 2 year girlfriend deal, but an actual relationship.
Healthwise would not be a problem as that's what a loving partner would do.
Location neither a problem(That would be the fun part)
If it was me the biggest problem would be that you couldn't have him all to yourself(but he GC makes it that way)
But then again..I am a woman who can amuse herself..as you have seen and read!
And Deal Breaker would probably be pre-nups and relunctance or not...this often plays a big part! Imo

@NewFan - what would be the deal breaker about a pre-nup? It's standard practice for someone in his position, so should be expected.

I ment a pre-nup document can give peace of mind to couples both ways.
Have been reading a lot lately about peoples relunctance to sign these agreements... partners are objecting. And saying things like "You are accusing them of being in a relationship for money etc...and not love" I actually think its the reverse. I personally have worked and fought for every dollar I have..and not have had any easy money. So I value this and it.
Frees there love! iMo

Re: Think With Your Head
Just want to thank you all for your sticky up for me. I really think NFF sounded much worse than she might have meant it, my way of thinking.
As far as my opinion that's how I feel not every woman wants to be in a career or the center of attraction, some are caretakers at heart, me. That is not to say that you except being a "doormat." The is not enough space or time here to lay out a relationship. We need to understand that a lot is left out of our posts for brevity. I also have no intentions of leaving her, you are a great group of people, thanks. Let's end that subject, no harm no foul NFF.

Well for me pre-nups are a dealbreaker, wouldn't sign one nor ask anyone else too. I don't see the point in preparing for the end before you even begin?

Right it's like you put the horns on it before it starts, but I do understand some of the celebs and such having a need for one, sadly but true.
